if the original gossip girl had aired in 2023, dan and blair would’ve been endgame and chuck bass would’ve gone to prison.

Hey! I don’t mind answering at all!
My viewing experience was kind of weird because the reason I started watching it was that gifsets and edits and everything were on my timeline a lot and it looked interesting, especially Murphy and Octavia. I actually thought Bellamy and Octavia were dating in the show for a while, so it was kind of weird seeing the pilot and being mildly worried I stumbled into a Game Of Thrones type thing.
But I also thought Emori would be someone I loved. I actually have a post on my old blog somewhere guessing what I’d think about each character after watching it and I said I’d thought she’d be one of my favorites. Maybe that was why I was so disappointed in her.
I saw the first episode she was in and got excited when she first showed up because I was expecting to love her and have a new cool, badass, hot female character to love. But then I watched it and I just..... didn’t like her. I didn’t not like her, she just wasn’t all that interesting to me. I didn’t like when she had a knife to Murphy’s throat and then knocked him out and actually almost yelled ‘you bitch’ in the middle of a laundromat when I was watching it on my phone. But, I still decided that I’d give her another chance. That’s far from the worst thing a character I like has done on this show.
But then she came back and I still didn’t like her. At first, it was just, she wasn’t interesting enough for me to have a real opinion about her. I felt like they were giving Murphy a love interest to make him more likable to people that didn’t already love him and that she didn’t really have a storyline of her own or really any characteristics besides a thief that flirts with Murphy. Then she tried to steal from the people she was stealing for and everything went to hell and I was kind of mad that Murphy finally had a little bit of stability and she messed that up, but Murphy didn’t really mind leaving, so whatever. He’s Murphy, he’s gonna get in trouble somehow, he might as well have a cute girl with him while he does it.
The first time I didn’t really like her was when he caught and brought to Polis and she just hid. She couldn’t really do anything, she would’ve gotten taken to, they would’ve died, I know all of that, but I still don’t like that she didn’t even try.
The first time I really hated her was when her and Murphy were in the cave, she asked him if there was anything else in Polis he liked besides the food, meaning Ontari, and he said that he ‘told her he didn’t have a choice’, which not only means they already had this conversation, but that he straight out told her he didn’t have a choice and she still got up and walked away from him, refusing to look at him. I know he didn’t say R*pe and didn’t explicitly say ‘she forced me to have sex with her and I told her no but she still forced me’, but I think it’s pretty well said in just ‘I didn’t have a choice’. And I just haven’t been able to like her since then.
In Season Four, if I forget about the scene in the cave, I would actually like them. They obviously cared each other, tried to take care of each, and worked as well as a team. The cave scene is the only thing that stopped me from fully shipping them.
It was Season Five, though, that I was even angrier than the cave scene. It’s partially because I’ve been in Murphy’s shoes so I’m probably over sensitive to it, but she was downright cruel to him, told him to die in space alone, said he was only worth loving when he was fighting for his life, it’s useless to list all the things because we’ve both seen the show but once I get going I can’t stop and those things really pissed me off and negated anything I liked about them in Season Four.
TL:DR, because I can’t help but ramble and I should’ve said just said yes or no and I’m so sorry, but anyways: In Season Two I didn’t care enough to have an opinion, the first part of Season Three I didn’t like her, the second part of Season Three I hated her, Season Four I started to kind of like her, and in Season Five I absolutely despised her, oh my god, my shortened version is still really long, I’m so sorry, but hopefully I explained a little and you don’t hate me for rambling.
