Beging for your Take on Rudolpho in a regency AU. I love my man, I love your AU, I love your writing style !
In this space that is your blog I'm full of love.
Another man in uniform, charming in a quiet way. People are drawn to him, to the accent and the way his eyes smile. He's a commanding presence, but you don't think anyone else has noticed. You have. The way he pulls people in and holds them there is magnetic. You hear women titter about his calm charisma, his well mannered and easy laughter. You think they fail to mention the pressure he carries with him, the proud set of his shoulders, the well practiced scan of his eyes. As if anyone in the room could be a threat to him, a man in uniform who can't turn his vigilance off.
Still, you have to admit he's quite handsome. It's all those same cool dangers that keep drawing your eye back to him. You wonder what he must be like when he's mad, if he ever allows himself to get mad. He strikes you as a man in control of himself, but... he's still a man. Men are always weak to something.
"You're here without an escort."
You look up from trying to identify the next name scrawled on your dance card. It's not a voice you're familiar with, but with the accent you hardly need to guess. You smile politely at the man of the hour.
"Sergeant Major Parra," You give a short curtsy, he nods his head, neither of you affording more than the necessary greeting for a stranger.
"Rodolfo," He corrects you. You shake your head.
"Forgive me, but I don't believe we're familiar enough for first names." He hardly seems to hear you, taking your hand to inspect the dance card around your wrist.
"No," He relents, "but I would like to be." He mumbles something to himself in Spanish, the roll of each word against his tongue making you curious. It's short, only for his own benefit, but you feel like you're missing a joke. He meets your eye and holds out his hand for your pencil. You watch as he pencils his name in to the last two slots on your card.
"Not eager to pass me off to another man?" You joke. Most men space their timing out unless they're particularly jealous, but you hadn't gotten that vibe from the Sergeant Major.
"You're too pretty to be that smart," Rodolfo hums, just barely smiling, "A me hermano le vas a gustar."
You want to ask what he means, the low tremor of his voice making your chest feel warmer than the heat in his dark eyes, but he hands you your pencil back and turns you to face your next conversation partner. His hand is a firm presence low on your back, pushing to you forward without waiting for your answer. It's more words than you'd heard anyone get out of Rodolfo all evening, you can't leave the conversation now. He doesn't give you the choice.
When you turn to find him again, he's standing with a man similarly uniformed. Both of them seem to feel your stare, their eyes darting to yours. The unfamiliar man smiles and Rodolfo leans closer to whisper something, you look away quickly. Never have you felt so much like a deer caught in a hunter's crosshairs. Though, you do wonder which of them is the hunter, and which is the dog chasing you into their trap.

Round 2 for CoDMW HC'S:
Alejandro will always share his food with others. He opens a bag of chips? He holds out the bag for anyone to take some. If he's eating lunch and you walk up and ask for some, he'll share no questions asked. He's always been like that according to Rudy.
Soap enjoys nighttime in Mexico on account of using black lights to see scorpions. He's a grown man and doesn't really like bugs, but there's something surreal about seeing them light up so brightly under that light- he's fascinated.
Ghost moves very quietly for someone so large, and he always freaks Rudy out, even without meaning to. Often you'll hear swearing in Spanish that abruptly switches to scolding Ghost in English. Alejandro thinks it's fuckin' hysterical, but Ghost has gotten him a few times too.
Rudy, Alejandro, and Valeria used to play Village Idiot when they were bored and had some time to kill. Valeria's an asshole when she wins and Alejandro is a bad sport when he loses, and Rudy rests somewhere in the middle.
Ghost knows a surprising amount of constellations. Some for navigating at night, some just to look at and admire. He teaches Soap about them sometimes.
Price is really good at crossword puzzles but he finds them boring and only good for a brief distraction. As a joke, Soap buys him a little pocketbook full of them with different themes. He denies this, but it stays in his back pocket with a miniature pen everywhere he goes. It's grown old and beat up, a little ripped and dog-eared with time, but you can usually see the imprint of it in his back pants' pocket. Soap thinks it's still sitting on a desk somewhere, but Ghost has seen it and finds the whole thing endearing.
Gaz doesn't really like older music, but he does like Billy Joel. Price finds this delightful, though he won't outwordly show much support aside from nodding along.
Soap is amazing at Subway Surfers.
Rudy introduces Soap to fresas con crema (strawberries and cream) and now he goes insane for it. They love food trucks.
Gaz has one of those little square iPod Shuffles from 2010, one of the later models before it was discontinued. It's full of all of his favorite music, a mishmash of stuff downloaded from online or actually bought. He doesn't always have headphones to use with it and he's also not superstitious, but he keeps it now as a good luck charm.
Ghost observes the cat naming game the others have put together (see last HC post) and the ONE time he chimed in was to call a white cat Paul. Alejandro, Rudy, and Soap immediately agreed because they didn't want to piss him off. There's a white cat in Los Almas named Paul. They've seen her more than once!

CoD MW2 HCS (that nobody asked for but I'm vibing with)
Alejandro has started a habit between he and Rudolpho: everytime they drive by/pass a stray cat they figure out what kind of name the cat seems like it would have. They'll explain why they think a name fits or one suggests something and the other either offers a counter-name or goes 'yeah that seems right.'
Soap tries to join in on the cat naming, but he always takes too long trying to come up with something. Alejandro thinks this is funny. Soap's never named a cat.
Price likes half-n-half lemonade ice tea. Ghost thinks it's an abomination.
Alejandro likes gryos and always goes crazy when they pass a place that makes them. If there's time to kill the others oblige and pull over, if not they sigh and make note of the location.
Gaz is wary of pigeons. Soap likes to throw fries to them from wherever they're eating, prompting Gaz to smack his arm lightly. Price agrees that they're getting too friendly.
Ghost likes learning about local legends from Alejandro and Rudy. They'll share especially when it's dark out or halfway through a long drive, with mouths full of food and interrupting each other to add their own little anecdotes/experiences. Alejandro is big on interrupting stories and finishing them.
Ghost in turn tells them about Spring-Heeled Jack, the Black Shuck, and other English myths. everybody listens with rapture- even Price finds it interesting. Ghost even gives dates and detailed incidents of sightings/witness accounts. Where does he learn these? No one knows. Soap thinks Ghost was just born with the knowledge.
Gaz loves Arab food, especially sweets. Farah introduced Price and him more recently to knafeh. During time off he'll find local Arab-run shops or restaurants for treats you won't find in a western store.
Ghost and Price exchange jokes, the same kind Soap found insufferable during his time being hunted by Graves. Despite them always drawing groans during downtime, they have an arsenal of silly, sometimes fucked up jokes. They help during times of stress.
Soap teaches Alejandro and Rudy Scottish slang and they forget it immediately. They bond over football and even play impromptu games when there's a moment to breathe. Soap is fearsome on the field, but Rudy's close behind.
Price is also interested in these games, but he'll yell from the sidelines and hype both sides up. No one knows who's side he's on, but he's definitely the coach.
Soap has a soft spot for the cartoons he'd watch as a kid. Being grown now and a soldier in the military, he doesn't have time to watch much of anything, but he recalls them fondly. Ghost pokes fun at this for being childish, but both he and Soap know warm memories are worth holding near.
Gaz doesn't like horses. He says they're always up to something.
DON'T startle Price or Ghost. There's fight or flight- they both fight. The second you pop out of trash bin or from behind a door, you're getting a solid set of knuckles to your face. The second they realize it's you they're apologetic, but of course, you know not to Fucking Do That.
When they were kids, Rudy's grandmother had a parrot that had a perch near the kitchen and otherwise free roam of the house. Alejandro taught her how to swear. Rudy's grandma found out and called them over, but Alejandro felt bad enough to blurt out that he had done it before she could even say anything.
Gaz likes the movie theater and always feels rotten smuggling candy in, but he's not paying the outrageous prices for stale M&Ms. Soap feels fine about it.
Price doesn't like McDonald's but he'll steal your fries. You won't even notice him doing it; he's that good.

CoD MW2 HC's for round 3:
Rudy doesn't make much body heat and his fingers are almost always ice cold, as opposed to Alejandro who's a furnace compared to his counterpart. Rudy starts bundling up for the fall pretty quickly, but Alejandro can be seen walking around in basketball shorts well into November.
Ghost finds small comforts in the smell of cigarette smoke. He's not exactly sure why, but it puts him just a little more at ease.
Soap can handle SOME spicy in his food, but because of his cocky nature he always vastly overestimates his ability to handle any at. He'll do his best to down a plate of hot wings to impress people and start wheezing 2 wings in. But if you give him milk he'll just fill up on that instead, so Price thinks it's better to let him re-learn this lesson till it sticks. It's also funny to him.
Gaz and Price both like Juicy Fruit gum and will go through a pack like it's nothing while Ghost watches in disgust. Ghost doesn't like gum.
Price likes the desert at night. It's cool and the flat land provides a wonderful clarity of sound. It makes him feel better about hearing any approaching threats.
Ghost's great at measuring height/distances without a tool and nobody knows why, not even him. In another world where he actually watched TV, he'd be a god at finding the TV remote on the first try.
Rudy fucking loves horchata.
The Vaqueros have a tradition of writing stuff with their fingers in the dust on each others' vehicles. Rudy always leaves little positive affirmations with a little heart, Alejandro likes to put 'wash me!' or a dad-like 'Stop slacking!' They joke it's the Vaquero messaging board. Someone has recently taken up drawing penises but no one will admit to it. After the 141 left Los Almas, Alejandro discovered their signatures and a 'thanks for the food! :^)' on the back of his truck. He cherished it.
Price keeps sharpies on him as a general rule of thumb for labelling/directions, but sometimes they explode and get all over his vest. It doesn't happen often but when it does he makes a great show of annoyance. Laswell thought he was shot once when a red pen got its ink all over him.
Gaz hates cacti and when he was informed about jumping cacti (from Alejandro, who made them out like they jump up and grab you from the ground) he started pulling his socks much higher on his legs. However, he goes apeshit the cactus fruit candies Rudy shares with him.
Gaz took one of Price's sharpies and wrote his name on Rudy's football, along with a little sketch of a cat face. Rudy pretends to be mad about it, but he can't hide his smile. It's an old ball and already has tons of scribbles on it from when he and Alejandro were younger.
Ghost misses Paul. She did seem to like him when they'd pass by in Los Almas. Soap agrees she was a good cat, and they're both thrilled when they receive a message through Price from Alejandro informing them that she had kittens.
