I've only recently started having my own thoughts about Emanator!Sampo and I think my favorite version of this is that he is technically an Emanator, it's just that he doesn't talk about it because Aha is a dick who only blesses people that don't want it and Sampo hates it here dkjxkdkdck

Aha blessed the Mourning Actors! A whole faction of people who have specifically made it their life's mission to resist Elation! They made a literal worm their Emanator just to see if it would be accepted into the Genius Society! And when it wasn't, Aha just as easily killed it and tossed it aside! So I feel like there is a good possibility that Aha looked down at Sampo, this little oddball who doesn't seem to even like Epsilon or a lot of the Masked Fools and was like.

Hey.

You know what would be really really funny.

And I feel like being an Emanator wouldn't even be a plus for Sampo, because of how he operates. Sampo excels at blending in; he managed to smuggle himself onto a planet

that had been isolated for 700 years,

with only one (1) single city on it,

and going even further, he snuck himself into the Underground,

where the population is even more sparse,

and STILL. Not a single accusation of him being an alien! Not even after the Astral Express lands and proves that interstellar space travel is possible! Sampo is so thoroughly ingrained into Belobog that yeah, some people admit they don't know his origins, but none of it ever comes with the question of whether he actually is a Belobog native or not. Sampo knows exactly how to blend himself into his surroundings in the most subtle way possible. And being an Emanator, something far more powerful than any normal human or Pathstrider could ever hope to be, would only throw in a massive extra variable for him. Sampo would have to be so so careful to keep a lid on his Emanator traits, to keep up the appearance of being totally normal and average at all times. It doesn't help him at all.

And this part is pure indulgence, but I love taking Aha's closeness with mortals, and THEIR tendency to take human form, and twisting it into a case of THEM using Sampo as a vessel.

I want Aha to look at Sampo the same way all of us look at Sampo. A chew toy. A plaything. Something to shove through the meat grinder. Aha thinks Sampo is hilarious and a funny, silly little guy, and THEY want to put him in Situations just to see what he does. Sampo is not a fan.

This though, this is what makes Sampo so wildly entertaining as a vessel. Because Aha knows that Sampo does not want to be a vessel, does not even want to be an Emanator, and THEY find it SO much fun to watch the mental gymnastics he has to pull to convince himself he's ok with it, this is fine actually, because he's not exactly about to tell off a literal god. He doesn't feel like getting a smiting today, please and thank you.

Because squeezing yourself into a human vessel is so different than merely adopting a human disguise, there's already a human soul in there, it's kind of a tight fit. If Sampo doesn't make room, doesn't all but dissociate right out of his own body, it could cause. Consequences.

And so, Aha always gives a warning, just to watch him squirm.

It begins with the sound of bells.

Just little ones, at first. Small, clinking little sounds that could even be considered nice. Something almost gentle, like a wind chime in a pleasant breeze on a warm day. This is the signal for the countdown.

Sampo breathes in, breathes out. Makes himself as small as possible within his own body.

The bells rise and multiply, tinkling wind chimes give way to sleigh bells, to shopkeepers bells, the sound of something inevitable approaching, something entering.

Sampo breathes in, breathes out. Dilutes himself, weaker and weaker concentrations.

The bells rise and rise, multiply and multiply, celebration and tragedy resonating in the sound of church bells, ringing bright and loud, the sounds of weddings and funerals both the same.

Sampo breathes in, breathes out. Becomes like smoke, like vapor. Hollows himself out.

Empty, empty, empty until he echoes, like a bell, like something with the sole purpose of being shaken and rattled around, a thing to be struck, the sounds jarring and punched out and gasping and piercing the air, the lung, the eardrum.

Sampo breathes in.

Beaten he rings, bashed in he sings.

Aha breathes out.

Honkai Star Rail Men and how they act when they’re sick, and taking care of them

Dan Heng: is the type to try to push through it when he’s sick, and continue to do his job. Unless he’s literally on the brink of collapse, it’s nearly impossible to convince him to rest in the archives and let you take care of him. He doesn’t wish to trouble you. Not that he doesn’t like it when you take care of him, he’s just…not used to it. When you do have to take care of him, he frequently apologizes for taking up your time, not that you mind. You’re happy to take care of him. He’s very quiet when he’s sick. Kinda frustrated that he has to just lay around and heal while there’s STUFF he could be doing, but there’s nothing he can do about it.

Gepard Landau: Also tries to push through and do his job when he’s sick. However, it’s a lot easier for you to convince him than Dan Heng to come home and get some rest when you can tell he’s feeling under the weather. He likes it when you take care of him, so he’s willing to put his work aside to get some rest. Although he does get antsy with time, so he might end up doing work anyways, even if that’s just writing a report or something, regardless of your insistence he doesn’t work while sick.

Jing Yuan: is very willing to take a sick day off, especially if you’ll be taking care of him. He loves attention from you, and him being sick is a great way to get some. He prefers to just sit outside with you and relax when he’s sick. He enjoys the escape from work, and the lovely company. He’s not one to fake being sick for attention though, he still has a sense of duty and his job to attend to, as much as it pains him to pry himself away from you. Still, every time he gets sick, you’re the first one he calls.

Welt Yang: knows to admit when he’s sick. He’ll send you a text to let you know he won’t be leaving his room today, and you surprise him by showing up at his room to spend the day with him. The two of you have a very lax sick day for him. Drinking some tea, reading some books, he’s very well behaved when sick because he knows he doesn’t want to get anyone else sick. Unfortunately, YOU might end up getting sick because you decided to spend time with him. He appreciates you taking time out of your day to be with him, but he does feel bad that he got you sick. He’ll take care of you too.

Sampo Koski: is very dramatic when he’s sick. Very whiney and needy when he’s not feeling well. He just wants to lay on your lap and complain about his headache, and you always indulge him for some reason. He’s hard to resist somehow. You tend to get him whatever he wants because you feel sorry for him. This guy would totally pretend to be sick to get attention from you.

Blade: oh, Bladie…he just doesn’t listen to you or anyone else who insists he’s sick and needs to rest. He’s so STUBBORN and refuses to back down from his missions, even when he’s on the verge of collapse from sickness. He doesn’t really like being taken care of by you when he’s sick. It makes him feel weak. So he avoids it as best he can. Until he literally passes out and wakes up to you bringing him some soup. He does appreciate that you don’t say ‘I told ya so’ though he probably won’t say that. The second he can stand up, you know he will be up and trying to get back out there, regardless of your protests.

Is quite confused sometimes by your studies, yet asks as many questions as he can. Mainly so he can understand what you love so much about the topic and why you're passionate to study that of all things.

Definitely has many talks about you regarding any theories or studies you make, always open to learn something new along the way. He finds your opinions and ideas very intriguing and wants to hear everything you have to say.

Will also add any new information to the Data bank with you, just so he can revisit them later and study them too for you.

Your Geo vision impresses him greatly, always watching in silent awe as you move and control the earth and rocks at your will. It also puts him at ease to know that you can defend yourself and therefore won't get hurt, if he isn't with you.

Absolutely doesn't understand the point to your studies, mainly since his view of the world is quite simple. The world is just evil and dark, there is not much more to it in his eyes. And finding a reason for all of that just seems like a hassle and waste of time. So it's hard to get him off of that mind-set at first.

But you try to anyways, having long talks about your theories and thoughts, until he finally begins to try and understand your views. He's s little grumpy and reluctant about it, but still does his best for you. As long as your happy, he'll try his best to get it.

Your cryo vision is something that immideatly catches his attention though, especially during battle. He likes how strong it is and how you're able to just freeze your enemies and defeat them easily with no effort. He's definitely very proud of you for that... though he'd still want to protect you himself.

The most interested person in your studies for sure. Wants to know all about it and perhaps even cares for the subject himself. He likes helping you out with his own knowledge and notes down anything new you tell him.

He'd definitely have very long conversations with you about all your study topics and likes to add his own opinions on the subjects. He could listen to you speak for hours on end too, finding the way you look so excited and passionate about your theories super cute.

He'd our hydro vision fascinating and nearly calming in a way. Especially when you move so elegantly and smoothly during battle. He likes to stand back and watch you do your thing often, stepping in only when needed. But he's proud, when you can protect yourself just fine too.

Is definitely intrigued by everything about your studies and wants to know more about it. He would also get you all the research that you need, just so that he can help you get further with your theories.

He will try using the knowledge he's gained from you in his work as a Captain too. He thinks it may help him think of his next moves easier, if he tries assessing past mistakes first.

Gepard would also be willing to have long conversations about various topics in your field too, just so he can watch how passionate you get. He likes to learn about new view points and opinions through your talks as well.

He is very interested in your hydro vision, as it compliments his ice abilities very well. You two would be an unbeatable duo on the battlefield, even if he'd never put you in a position, where you'd ever need to fight.

Doesn't really ask much about the topics of your studies, unless it benefits him in his little endeavours or in his, well, "work". He also wouldn't have much to say on the topic, as he never thought about it much before.

With that said, he'd still be willing to listen to you talk about it all day, mainly just to spend time with you. If the topic is interesting enough, he might be willing to learn some things here and there. You never know, where it might come in handy after all.

He tries to form an opinion on some topics for you, but they won't be very elaborate or deep. But it's the thought that counts!

Your Geo vision on the other hand is very interesting to him. You'll have to stop him from using your abilities for anything not so legal though.
