   soft voice comes from the doorway where si-u HOVERS AWKWARDLY, hands twisting in a nervous action around his cane. he’s still uncertain in his surroundings in the school, very much OUT OF HIS ELEMENT, and he’s just been looking for somewhere quiet to sit during lunch break. unwittingly, it seems he’s happened across someone who’s done the same -- he just hopes he hasn’t interrupted them too badly.

     “ i’m sorry, i thought this room would be empty, ”  he apologizes in accented japanese, bowing slightly in further show of his remorse.  “ i, uhm. i’ll go find somewhere else to sit... ”

"Who, me?” He sounds genuinely startled and it’s enough for him to abandon his iced coffee on the table, the contents of the metallic flask clattering as he slams it against the hardwood surface. It’s times like these he should be grateful he’d bothered to stock up on these flasks-- he was no stranger, in the past, to treating those plastic, disposable cups the same way and spilling coffee everywhere. Besides, caring about the environment is, like, important or whatever. Once the shock fades, that’s when the laughter hits. Granted, he’s trying to hold it in --- he doesn’t want to look as though he’s laughing in her face, not that his laughter is at all unkind.

“Y’know, a lot of guys don’t like being called cute”, says Tomo, speech more measured now that he’s calmed himself down, “I don’t care.
