Let's talk about the Seiko KS Vanac today. The Vanac was only produced between 1972 and 1976 and was especially meant for the younger generation with their sporty and colourfull dials. On top of that the glass on the VANAC's was mostly cutglass, not all the time though. The cases were edgy and the bracelets were always made of steel and of a higher quality than the other bracelets Seiko produced then. The sizing was like a lot of vintage watches between 36mm and 38mm. Because of the daring designs and the firm bracelets it never wears small on the wrist.
The KS VANAC were produced by the Suwa factory (5626 caliber) and the Daini factory (5246 and 5256 caliber). In this period the KS were second to the GS line and due to the great quality a Seiko KS can still march like it was bought yesterday eventough it might be almost 50 years old. But of course a KS needs some love and maintenance once in a while just like any other watch.
Hope you liked this one!

Some Seiko LM history
Did you know there are actually two types of LM. This mid- to high range automatic watch was first produced in 1968 by the SUWA factory and carried the 56xx movement and is 21.600bph. These movements were then used for the King and Grand Seiko as well.
A couple of years later, around 1971 the first LM Special models were presented. These were produced by the Daini factory and carried the 52xx movement and is 28.800 bph. Unlike their Suwa brothers (or sisters, whatever you prefer) the LM specials were more excentric with cut glass, various shaped cases, different striking colours and only available in day-date configuration.
Then there were the special LM's that weren't LM special (you get it?). They were called LM De Luxe (same movement as the King Seiko and produces from 1975-1976) and LM Silverwave which was water resistant with a screw down crown. These are somewhat more rare than the other LM's.
Did you know that all of the LM's had a stop second (hacking) function.
Then there was the Lord Quartz, but that is a different kind of watch and maybe I will discuss that one another time.
Production of LM's stopped around 1975 and didn't have a successor.
Hope you liked the info!
