Some photos from my visit to Cafe Fan Base. I really ate too much.
The Shinsengumi's black lemonade was a good mix of sweet and sour.
The curry was a bit spicier than I expected.
The sandwich plate was good. I made a joke about the sandwich not having enough mayo, but I was wrong. There was plenty of mayo in there for a non-mayora. I was surprised that the cake was banana-flavored. I don't know why.
The parfait was fine. I don't like matcha, but I wanted the chocolate tower. It turned out to be too much chocolate. I should have gotten the other parfait. That one was raspberry and coffee...
The Prince Hata drink was good and in no way looks sillier in person.

A trio of mascot coasters I got with my order. I also got a Shinpachi.

Eli came home later, you had thought it would happen when he left earlier that evening. You expected him to come home wounded, but nowhere near the level that you'd see him in.
He had taken the care to unlock the door to avoid waking Yenna up. However, you had been awake the whole time and noticed when the lock rattled. You stood up, worried, discarding the clothes you were mending to the side.
Even if there was a small chance it was someone other than Eli, you didn't want to take the risk. Your shoulder remained tense while the lock continued to shake, briefly, you glanced towards the broom left at the corner of the house.
To your relief, Eli appeared behind the door after some struggles with the lock. You breathed out in relief, "Hey—" but that only lasted for a second, "Eli."
He smiled when he saw you again but his eyes landed on what was behind you. Yenna was tucked under her blanket, snoring softly in the dark of the rented room. "Did she go to bed long ago?"
You didn't know how to feel about what you saw, he was covered in wounds and his eyes were tired, but somehow, he managed to prioritize his daughter first. It was admirable, you had to admit.
In the end, you could only nod and gesture for him to follow. "Yeah, she has been asleep for a while," you surveyed his attire and found them tattered in blood, "sit down, I will patch you up."
"Thank you for looking after her," Eli nodded, sliding out of his shoes, "sorry for coming home late."
Eli sat down on the floor, breathing out the stress of the day while you rummaged the closet for the medical kit.
It was there because Eli accidentally cut himself cooking as compensation for taking care of Yenna. You were meant to get him some band-aids, but after browsing the pharmacy, you thought it'd be better for him to be prepared in case something happened.
You guessed something did happen tonight. "It's fine, I don't mind staying over for the night," you reassured him while lifting the kit out from the closet.
When you turned back, Eli was fiddling with one of the shirts you were touching up. "I hope you don't mind me mending the clothes," you suddenly felt self-conscious, maybe you should've asked him beforehand, "I was fixing up Yenna's clothes when I saw some of yours had rips in them."
"You didn't have to but I appreciate it," he smiled fondly at you, easing your worries about invading his privacy, "you're really too good to me."
"I was only doing it to busy myself during the wait," you mumbled as you dug through the kit, finding disinfectants and bandages, "look like an intense night."
When you looked up, Eli was already shrugging off his shirt, too covered in blood and grimes to salvage. Only when he noticed you were staring that he became self-conscious.
"Sorry, do you mind that I...?"
You shrugged, unfazed. "Tough fight," you approached him with the disinfectant, if he felt any discomfort at the sting, it only showed by him closing his eyes.
"Yeah..." He sighed. "A lot happened today... But how was Yenna today? Did she behave?"
The mention of her had you smiling, even while you were wiping the blood from his face. "She was super sweet today and didn't create any problem at all, but... Yenna called me 'mama' earlier," the confession came out before you could stop yourself, "I know I shouldn't have encouraged her but—"
You were meant to pull away to create some distance while you explained yourself, but Eli caught your wrist before you moved back. He was looking at you again, his eyes warm. "It's fine, thank you for taking good care of her, mama," he released his hold, watching you while you continue with your aid.
"It's weird when you use it," you mumbled.
"Is it?"
That amused him, you didn't know why. "Well, I don't mind being her mama," you admitted, "I really like spending time with Yenna, either way, I'm happy she likes me too."
Eli barely flinched when you apply more pressure to the disinfectant wipes, you wondered if he was used to the physical pain. He watched carefully while you worked on the wounds on his torso, his entire body was tense but you didn't think it was from the sting.
Strange.
"What do you think about spending more time with her?" Eli's focus remained on where your hands touched him, you were only a little offended at how he appeared to doubt your capability.
Really, if he didn't trust you to do this then he shouldn't have allowed you in the first place. But he hadn't protested, so you didn't know what was his problem.
"If that's not too much of a bother for you, of course," Eli added with a shaky sigh when you touched a wound on his ribcage.
"I don't mind," you lifted your head up, looking back at him, "are you going to get busier after this?"
Somehow, eye contact with you made him bashful, he turned away, finding the broom at the corner of the room infinitely fascinating. "Something like that," he said, "would you like to..."
You returned to your previous task, rounding behind him to see if there were any other bruises while he worked to find the remainder of his sentence.
"...stay the night? I'm sorry if it's a lot to ask for, but I don't want to be alone at the moment."
"I already told you earlier, I don't mind staying," you flopped back down on the floor, cleaning up the used wipes, "do you want to talk about what happened?"
Eli smiled at you again, but you could feel that it took everything left in him to do it. "...No," he finally answered, "maybe later, I'm a bit worn out from what happened, I just want you to stay with me... at least, for tonight."
You didn't know how to answer him then, he'd not be exactly alone with Yenna around. But you guessed he needed someone who could understand him, even if he didn't want to talk. In the end, you relented, giving him his necessary peace.
"All right, for tonight."
