Both have aestically unique home bases and while it's fun to pick a side and actually have an impact on the outcomes, it's more important to stress that each team actually comes with gameplay benefits worth considering.

Clearly, there is a love for the game of basketball on display in modes like MyNBA and Mamba Moments. But a lot of that love is lost the moment we’re asked to pay an absurd amount of money to compete in the main multiplayer mode. There have been a couple of new additions for 2K24 including an all-new player market and salary cap. The companion who started the trend of all DWM original companions being lesbians. In fact they had so many lesbians that when they wanted to give ten an original companion RTD said that they where not allowed any more lesbians so they introduced a Bisexual companion instead. By the way that’s RTD at he one who did Torchwood and made everyone queer had to tell someone to stop putting lesbians in. And Izzy Sinclaire started that trend. DWM is famous for is queer companions all thanks to Izzy’s compelling coming out arc which included body swaps with a bisexual fish and snogging a Time Traveling WW2 era British Lesbian Spy who had been merged with a Time Lord matrix creation agent. Also Izzy is a orphan and we never find out who gave birth to them because part of their coming out arc also involves them coming to terms with the fact that they do love their adoptive parents and it does not matter who gave birth to them and that they are not Izzy Someone but Izzy Sinclare. Showdown 2k24 Nominations!

alright, redoing this post now that I can give a concrete start date of Monday the 15th of January!

Nominations for the tournament are open up until the start date, and you can submit anyone who could reasonable be considered a companion, either by sending me an ask or by filling out

this form.

If you make your nomination via the form you can also submit some propaganda to go alongside the poll. Anyone who was considered a regular at any point in the last year will automatically be included, as well as anyone who was in the original tournament (+/- a couple I might miss or misremember as being a regular because I don't have old lists anywhere). The exception to this is last years winner, Rose Tyler, she will not be getting a place in the main tournament, however after the final I will run a poll to see if our new winner can beat her. (oh and also maybe I'll leave the TARDIS out but not fully decided yet)

The tournament is going to be run in the same way I did @adventure-showdown, meaning I'll keep companions from different periods of the show and different mediums segregated at first so the nicher ones don't immediately get knocked out, and slowly get mingled together. The exact details are going to depend on just how may characters get included.

If they are from teh TV show they have to be on this list to qualify, and for EU companions I'm going with them needing a TARDIS wiki page, and also I will give them a quick proof read to make sure they pass, the bar is low but it is there

The impossible girl. The hybrid. So many stupid names were given but that doesn’t negate the incredible arc this woman went through. She is THE Icarus, flew too close to the sun, died and became the doctor herself. No one does it like her. Clara made 12 who he was, in season 7 she became an expert in doctor studies and then spent season 8 being his teacher when he forgot what it meant and had such a big impact even when he forgot her he became a teacher himself. What an icon she is, an unstoppable force of nature (@spaghetti-taako )

you already know who she is bc she's the most iconic companion of all time. imagine teleporting into the tardis on the worst day of the doctor's life (so far) and not clocking any of his angst and SCREAMING at him to take you back to your wedding not only is this THE funniest introduction it's symbolizing how she saw the doctor at their worst, underneath the front that they put up, and due to this she understands them on a level like nothing else and changes their life forever. "you don't just need someone to stop you, you need someone to keep you going". AHHHHHH. she isn't in love with the doctor she calls them out whenever they're being awful and need to be whacked on the back of the head. she is filled with so much compassion for the smallest person she reminds ten of the kindness that was beaten out of him and she is so so loving to everyone except for herself. she loves her trans daughter so much. she changed the narrative of the doctor back from the tragedy it was into something hopeful. healing is real and possible through the power of queerplatonic relationships actually. donna sweep or i blow up the website (@aq2003 )

He's a bitch I love him! He hates earth so much he's the worst liar ever he signed on to kill the doctor and then immediately proceeded to not do that even a little he's THE cringefail assassin of all time he wears the shortest shorts in existence he hates humans and earth at the beginning and by the end he still hates them but he'll reluctantly dive into the ocean to save one of them he has actual character growth and common sense. Most doctor who companions: I will risk my life for this person who I have .0001% chance of saving. Turlough: lol nope. have you ever died horrifically but came back (mostly) correct because of your immortal sludge girlfriend. she's quite literally everything she is THE quintessential companion of moffat's whole era she is so terminally some guy and she is so special for it!!! she saved twelve's life multiple times, saved humanity through her memories of her mother, and she always holds on despite everything (the monks. the cybermen) and still always looks at the universe with wonder and curiosity and love and her storyline ruined my life. oh good lord WHEN the "i would rather die as i am than live as something else" hits and WHEN that directly ties into twelve's own refusal to regenerate. anyway bbc i am asking you to bring her back for the 70th and give her a happy ending or [gif of bill shooting twelve with a gun] (@aq2003 )

Clara Oswald

The impossible girl. The hybrid. So many stupid names were given but that doesn’t negate the incredible arc this woman went through. She is THE Icarus, flew too close to the sun, died and became the doctor herself. No one does it like her. Clara made 12 who he was, in season 7 she became an expert in doctor studies and then spent season 8 being his teacher when he forgot what it meant and had such a big impact even when he forgot her he became a teacher himself. What an icon she is, an unstoppable force of nature (@spaghetti-taako )

she's so iconic. spent so long with the doctor that she started to become too much like him. died and then brought back by the doctor after 4 billion years. has her own tardis that looks like a diner. bossy. controls the doctor like he's a dog. short queen. sassy and iconic. (anonymous)
