Hubert: ahaha wouldn’t it be funny if you died and came back to life and then got dumped for acting weird? Felix: (genuinely fears this daily)

And then right after hinting it would happen, Hubert (and Byleth) are put in their place as Ferdinand glows to them the second he touches Felix’s cheek. And ohhhhhh. That’s interesting. Ferdinand fell for Felix, quite literally. He used to be an angel. Very interesting!

And in the AU, fallen angels are not frowned upon and it’s not seen as disgraceful. It’s really rare that an angel opts to give up their wings to be a mortal but it does happen. So when Hubert sees Ferdinand’s flicker of his past with the glow, he realizes Ferdinand gave up immortality for Felix. This isn’t just a guy to give up and leave if Felix is a little quiet (and doesn’t mention dying).
