okay so first of all i'm going insane about this

but also to dive deeper into it, I'm also thinking about how sarah's parents would have affected her confidence in her own ability to parent. her father left when she was seven and she didn't hear from him for twenty years, then when they finally reconnected he turned out to be a serial killer, and her mom? well

like damn! no wonder she doesn't think she'd be a good mom

also this comes to mind, and it makes me wonder if it's an excuse she heard time and again from her mom that she eventually started to internalise

what's the betting her mom said that to her again and again after her dad left to explain away her own shitty parenting skills. "I'm on my own Sarah. How am I supposed to do it all?" or maybe it was when sarah was older and tried to talk to her mom about how she treated her as a child. "Your father left us, Sarah. Did you really expect me to be able to do it all?"

like yeah absolutely, being a single parent isn't easy, but there are other people with less money than sarah's mom that do a better job of it. based on what i can find, sarah's mom would have been making bank, even without working 90 hour weeks, so she most likely could have afforded to work less and spend time with sarah instead

also this is just a headcanon but i think sarah had at least one nanny growing up, which again, feeds into the "how is anybody supposed to do it all?" because her mom didn't do it all. she had to hire someone to do most of it for her (also not shaming people that have nannies but. i am shaming sarah's mom. fuck her fr)

anyway. this is all because @lumalite sent me a tiktok about a cryptic pregnancy and captioned it "sarah and crockett" so. this is on him for causing the brain rot
