I feel like the even the choice of lingerie blair chooses to wear for herself and dan in 5x18 reveals so much about how much power and freedom she feels in her relationship with dan. Like we can assume that the sets/pieces she wore for ch*ck and even louis were probably less dark, probably exuded frailty and softness which would have made both men feel more powerful. whereas the piece blair chooses in 5x18 just exudes well…pure sex but also confidence and power and it’s not while it is for dan’s enjoyment and pleasure it’s more about if she feels great then he feels great. 🥰

oh we don’t even need to assume—we see that the pieces she wears when she’s with chuck are often soft colour palettes, lots of silk, not very elaborate but very feminine and pretty.

iirc the only time she wears something akin to the 5x18 look is the s2 finale look, what she has on under the dress which she reveals not unlike how she reveals herself in 5x18. there’s a similar feeling of her holding the power, really one of the only times she seems to with chuck, but it’s still unbalanced. he’s still holding out on her. the look there seems to be her grasping for a power she knows/feels she doesn’t really have. whereas of course with dan she finally does have that power.

the 5x18 look is different from a lot of the other lingerie we see her in and i love how proud/happy she looks when she reveals it, she clearly feels very sexy in it and i see it as her finally being comfortable enough in a (sexual) relationship to assert her power and not have it undermined, but it instead being the focus of what’s sexy. and they hadn’t even been with each other yet at that point!
