obviously everyone is valid and has the right to do their own thing & whatever makes an individual feel safe & comfortable is the best policy but like: what a bummer when adult people go “if you’re not in the same 2-3 years age range i am pls don’t follow” i’m not sure if there is Actual Ageism involved in that or if it’s like Problematic now bc people 5+ years older are all creepy predators or what but like...the vast majority of this website is late teens early 20s like...if i only followed people my age i would not be following very many people. and now i am following 2 less people than i was this time last month because of posts like that. and it’s making me feel bad for being 30! like i’m not still supposed to like stuff and have hobbies and write fanfiction at 30 when HELLO i hope i am still writing fanfiction when they put me in the ground! i 100% get not wanting minors on ur blog if you post nsfw i have a nsfw sideblog myself for that exact reason but....................man.

when i was a kid i was always like “i’m not gonna be one of those women who lie about my age i’m gonna be proud i even made it to 30” because i always thought it was sooo sad and embarrassing when my mom joked “oh no i’m 16 and have been for years” when she was clearly in her 30s and 40s...and thats still highkey true but now i absolutely understand why people start taking their age out of their bios. i’m not taking it out of mine because i’d rather be, gasp!, a decrepit old lady of 30 than someone who’s pretending NOT to be 30, but still :/ idk, maybe it’s my imagination, but since my number ticked over from 29 to 30 most of my Random Day To Day Tumblr Interactions With Strangers get like........ghosted or ignored. feels bad! (a couple of years back when the ace d*scourse was going strong i noticed the same thing happening on certain blogs...i’d get a weird hunch and go and check and sure enough almost every time it’d be someone who didn’t like ace people.)

anyway. for the record. i would absolutely follow someone 20+ years older than me on tumblr arey ou kidding. that would be baller as hell. i saw a post made by a 70yo the other day and i swear if her blog hadn’t had so much j*hnlock on it i would have followed on the spot. i still might. @ this point it’s like all you have to do is be 25+
