Ok here is my suckening theory

Emizel and Shilo are twins, Shilo was kept locked up bc of some vampire bs while Emizels vampiric nature was locked away by the queen and the main like. Figure in their lives was meant to keep things under wraps, Lazarus w keeping Shilo sated and making sure he never leaves the castle and learning about the outside, and Jeffery(?) in making sure Emizel never learns of his vampiric unlife.

And i think Arthur Bennett is the outside factor that brings them together, and eventually becomes a sort of mentor to the both of them, along with something akin to a mediator

The Queen definitely dominated Shilo a lot, like we can all agree on that, right? That’s what normalized casually upending people’s free will to Shilo.

I’m just curious how far she took it. Shilo was capable of leaving his room and the castle, but was that because The Queen didn’t want to dominate him to never leave, or because that would’ve been a safety hazard? While Shilo was growing up did she dominate him whenever he wanted to stay up past bedtime? Whenever he didn’t want to eat his dinner yet? Whenever he asked one too many times to see the outside world, read new books, to have a friend? Did she dominate away tantrums, dominate him into sitting still for portraits, dominate him into apologizing after arguments?

Did she use her discipline to skip over all the times a normal parent would discipline their child or adapt to their needs? She’s an old, old creature, and grew up in a very different era, it might not have even seemed wrong to her, exactly, just a useful trick that let her speedrun parenting because she knew what was best for Shilo even if it deprived him of every opportunity to be a person.

Did that extend out to Jeffrey (assuming he’s actually their dad and not like, some guy that The Queen dumped Emizel on to hide him and just dominated into believing that he was Emizel’s father), back whenever they were dating/whatever the fuck led them to fuck? Did she dominate away rough patches, rewrite his memories of plans when something came up and she knew she couldn’t make it?

Did she ghoulify him?

Think about it. She’s this great, wise, powerful Queen of all vampires with enemies around every corner, and then she falls in love/?lust? with this frail, vulnerable human. He’s a weak spot that can be exploited, a hole in her armor, and that puts him in danger. His first line of defense seemed to be secrecy, but why not have his second line of defense be a bunch of blood points to use at will? Ghouls are stronger, heal faster, and even have limited use of disciplines! Heck, if she love loved him, then she’d be extending his lifespan so they could be together for all eternity, at the low low cost of his free will and independence. But hey, it’s not like he didn’t already love her, right?

I’m not sure what would’ve had to have changed for her to have cut contact with Jeffrey and Emizel, especially since she clearly didn’t learn any lessons because she still raised Shilo to be the way he is, but like. I just want you to imagine Jeffrey slowly transitioning out of being a ghoul once he’s cut off from The Queen’s blood, slowly realizing what happened, slowly realizing he’d had a kid while under a blood bond and all the fucked up shit that entails, and then having to wake up everyday and look at Emizel and be reminded of it all.

If he stayed away from The Queen under a level 3 blood bond then she probably explicitly told him to do so, maybe even dominated him into doing it, so even just taking care of Emizel might’ve been by her orders, and as he de-ghoulified he was actively choosing to continue to follow the last orders given to him by someone who put him through all of that. That might’ve strained his relationship with his son, just a little bit.

Idk if Charlie would’ve made things that dark, but I still doubt dating The Queen of a society that sees people as walking talking buffets went super well for Jeffrey.

I love suckening enjoyers theorize about stuff and as someone who has is fully educating themselves on VtM 20 anniversary edition (the version they play) and 5th edition; It feels like i know so much more than I should. Like I found the secret back door to vampire lore.

I f I talk about VtM lore and where it plays into The Suckening’s story, it feels wrong. Like I’m telling you how the magician did the magic trick so now it’s not as cool.

There is a specific stat condition for weed blood and I think it is very fucking funny

(also if you like ttrpgs it’s actually so cool and so easy to learn when it comes to the mechanics, super recommend)

I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK ABOUT THE QUEEN WITH

(I am referring to the vampire queen from just roll with it. Do Not want to lose context in the tags)

Spoilers upto episode 10 btw

1: Bathory. As in actual serial killer Elizabeth Bathory (and yes I did check the episode transcripts it IS spelt the same way).

2: Her unconditional compassion is was what got her seated at the right hand of FUCKING DRACULA. She then used that power to burn down an entire village.

We love a girlboss who contains multitudes <3

3: Everything about Luna's ritual could imply SO much about the Queen.

Firstly, she sought the tremere Luna to help her. Luna, of the Lunarchive? In all likelihood a very powerful, and influential vampire, if not the clan's primogen. That's a lot of trust to give, and makes me wonder if the two are particular close (maybe over being perceived as witches?). Second, the degree of intentionally opposes the theory/assumption that this was the result of some hook-up with a mortal that miraculously resulted in a pregnancy she decided to keep. And Shilo being born a vampire was something that went wrong with the spell. She wanted to raise mortal children. Shilo being a vampire was the thing that threw off her plans, not Emizel being born mortal. What was she planning to do before this happened? Was she going to do a Dracula and ditch the throne?

3: Why does she straight up have Lisa Tepes' backstory.

(And on that note, I don't follow the theory that Dracula is the twin's father. In fact, the magical nature could call into question if they even have a biological father)

4: Is Lazarus actually her brother, or is she doing that thing where you call your parents make you call their close friends aunt and uncle?

The former could mean a couple of interesting things. He looks a fair bit older than her, was he turned later in life? You could even see this an an early example of her consolidating power for her family.

I posted this on the Patreon chat already but something stood out to me during the first EP of The Suckening is Shilo can, apparently. piss. For people who aren’t familiar with VTM lore, vampires don’t do that. They’re corpses, dead bodies, and them ingesting blood is more like draining essence than “eating”.

Okay. Maybe the campaign is somewhat more homebrewed, and certain Vampire things are different. Or maybe it’s just a minor plothole. I thought. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL.

Shilo is described as “less dead than the others” and has an aura befitting of it. Shilo can drink soda without puking. And the way Shilo talks about her mother doesn’t seem like the relationship between a sire and a childe. The Queen is his actual biological mother.

Conclusion: Shilo is a Dhampir. The Queen, by some miracle, was able to give birth to him without the fetus dying like how vampire pregnancies mostly go. The Queen’s reason for keeping Shilo locked up makes more sense, as Shilo’s existence is a danger to the both of them. Gregory is both the father of Emizel and Shilo.

Okay, major spoilers for the suckening episode 5 not below the cut anymore cuz the episode’s out.

In ep 1, when the Fangs vampire is biting into Emizel's neck, Emizel's eyes close involuntarily, he sees himself drifting through a "thick, crimson liquid that seems to stretch on forever", and when he 'opens' his eyes he sees himself from a third person view from somewhere above the fight.

Now, the blood thing sounds like episode 5 when he reincarnates, and I'd bet actual real life money that the 'third person view' was from his cat's perspective, and I kinda think that maybe Emizel straight up wasn't supposed to be turned here. Like, I think he was always supposed to have nine lives, and maybe it wasn't added in just because he died in ep 4, because the blood thing happens right before he would've died from blood loss here in episode 1. The sequence would've made sense if he 'closed' his eyes again and found himself back in the blood ocean for the next 8 hours. He would've woken up, and because he didn't get the chance to tell Soda to run one last time or distract the Fangs vampire with surprise fatherhood, Soda would likely be dead, and that would've been his motivation for hunting down the Fangs vampire.

However, through the power of being a fucking gremlin, Emizel bites the Fangs vampire back, turns himself, gets up immediately and inadvertently saves Soda's life.

I feel like Soda dying might've deepened Emizel's character, because he's always at his most human and most interesting when he's worried about people and he straight up doesn't know how to handle Shilo's grief and I think this would be the equivalent of smashing in his mental stability with a hammer. I really really really wanna see what that would've done for his characterization but also THANK FUCKING GOD.

Charlie also describes a 'searing pain' and then it being 'peaceful' before the whole blood ocean thing, which i think might be similar to what Charlie describes in ep 4 before Emizel fucking dies, but idk if those are necessarily related.

suckening episode 10 spoilers below the cut

am i the only one that's still Super confused at the circumstances of emizel and shilo's birth and separation? like we now know why shilo was born a vampire and emizel wasn't - and it makes sense to send emizel away since he's a human in a castle full of vampires, but why keep shilo in his room? from what we've seen he's a fully functioning vampire

and the whole timeline? the queens backstory was Super Cool, but now we've established vampires can't get pregnant, and the twins were born 18-19 years ago, there's no way the queen has been a vampire for that short period of time - we saw in shilo's questions she's been alive for centuries! so what's up with that??

and is dracula Actually their dad? emizel's dad looks so much like the twins, unless that was just to throw us off? there's so much stuff that hasn't been answered yet and has honestly left me with more questions that answers? unless i'm being silly and i've missed something super important, if anyone has any theories or suggestions they want to talk about please feel free to with me im so curious and confused

Theory discussion! Spoilers for ep 4 of The Suckening.

I wanna talk about Edward and the spiked blood real quick.

Either Edward spiked one (possibly more) of the bodies himself or knew that they would be ahead of time.

Edward drinking from his own glass, and not touching the body in front of him makes me think that more - if not all - of the other bodies were drugged as well.

This can't just have been to spite Shilo and/or Arthur - they were invited the night before + there doesn't appear to have been a guest list, since the bouncer outside was writing names down as people came in. (mini-theory but I think the invitations were just a way to ensure only other kindred knew of the event)

So Edward was totally prepared for something to go wrong at the Elysium. I'm not certain that he knew about the Grimmslayer raid, but they do have vampire informants like Arthur so it's a possibility.

Alternatively, Edward may have had his own power-grab scheme that got interrupted.

been thinking about this for a little but it’s basically what i think some campaigns would be if not podcasts, i haven’t listened to some of the older ones so i’m sorry they’re not on here :(( if you have any ideas feel free to add them btw :DD

RIPTIDE!!!!! - really long animated series

not an anime though, no matter how much grizzly wants it, it would be an animation style where the characters could have very clearly different nose, face and body shapes, really pushing my riptide nose agenda here sorry, each episode would be like 20-40 minutes long and instead of coming out in seasons there would be massive gaps in between episodes, from 2-6 months long, to leave time for writers and animators to get stuff done (massive team of animators btw, i feel like it would be pretty successful)

PRIME DEFENDERS!! - comics

literally nothing else they could be, just really well made, well performing comics (i’ve already talked about this before you can stalk my talk tag if you really want to find it lmao), the comic company making them would be keeping well away from movies n shit btw

APOTHEOSIS!!! - i wasn’t really sure about this one to be honest

i had to ask my friend and she said anime which i don’t agree with but i can see it, i think maybe a short book series where each book is 150 - 300 pages and is about a different god they have to kill/a different episode, i think that works but if anyone has any better ideas please tell me :D!!

BLOOD IN THE BAYOU!!! - i hate to say it, i really do…

bitb would be a really long really good 80s horror book with strong homoerotic undertones, a satisfied fanbase and lots of active members in the community making fan comics, films, writing, theories and art ect… until well after the book came out……….. and then it would be made into the most egregious and awful live action movie you have ever seen, the most awful casting (like chris pratt as officer dudes….. throws up) and even worse sfx, oh yeah and the characters would be ruined and the story would become so butchered it wouldn’t make sense, they would do some shit like cut out becky so kian just kisses some random lady (removing both a really good and well written character and a layer of kian’s character that i think is super important) and make rolan really be an evil bug spy the whole time so rand has to kill him to save the town also add in a whole new sub plot that never existed like the rand family is secretly a long line of bug alien hunters or something fucking stupid like that and the entire fanbase would murder whoever thought re-writing the story was a good idea (ahaha can you tell ive been through something like this before ahahaha, character morals and motives being removed and whatnot ahahahhahahaha.)

it would be well made though, unlike the bitb movie it would be its own original thing, have great makeup and effects also be well casted and well shot, well written, ect ect, it would bloody and gory and not suitable for people who can’t handle showing bones and organs all over everywhere, lots of shitty rip off merch would be made though and the fandom would be 99% gay little freaks (normal suckening enjoyers) and 1% homophobic straight white men who get mad whenever they see soda and emizel having gay sex on screen or whatever fag shit that biting thing was

Time to talk about my Just Roll With It: The Suckening Theory about Shilo and Emizel

Fair warning? Spoilers for those who haven't listened yet and mildly unhinged thought process pulling apart really small details

Please know I've chewed on these for so long, it's like the piece of gum Violet has in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Don't believe it cuz it hasn't been explicitly stated? Dunno how to help you there, simply a Dumbass Moment™

First and foremost, let's simply get it out of the way, yes, they're twins

Imma be focusing more on the situation surrounding them being where they are and who they're with

Base Work:

All of these theories revolve around it not simply being a one night stand type thing, that the parents met somewhere, were together romantically for a while then ended up having kids either accidentally or intentionally

Theory 1: Divorced Family of Four

Basically a Parent trap type situation goin' on here, Parents get in a fight, twins separated at birth, they meet when they're older, and if the podcast is going a more humor based route, maybe getting the parents back together

Personally, I'd score it a 4.8/10, giving points for the humor aspect, but seems unlikely due to how the queen was keeping tabs on Emizel but Jeffery didn't seem to recognize Shilo

Theory 2: Temporary Living Situation

Essentially, when the twins were born, seeing that one was more predominately either Human or Vampire but they couldn't safely raise them in the same household, for fear of the other side being exposed to their respective society

So the plan was to raise them in their own worlds, then when they were fully grown up they'd introduce them to each other, and give Emizel the option to join Vampire society, Jeffery probably will also Turn when Emizel does

Rating this one a 6.3/10, does g really explain when the mom didn't want Shilo to talk about the stuff, again, Jeffery not recognizing Shilo, the mom not reaching even though theyre both adults (at least by human standards)

Theory Three: Uncle Dad

This one takes a bit of a different take. Alright, so starting off, Jeffery isn't the actual Dad, he's the twin brother of the Dad. Now, you may think that specific connection is random, however I promise it's not. Twins is a genetic trait, in order for twins to be born it has to come from one side of the family, in this case, the dad's side. However, I think the dad and Jeffery weren't in contact, or at least not in constant contact. Not a malicious thing but more of an 'talking didn't take priority' type deal. Now, I don't think the dad is still alive for this to work, he probably died a short while after the twins were born.

After the dad died, the mom didn't have the ability to keep up with both twins, one being a human child that she wouldn't have a clue where to start with, thus she reached out to the brother, whom the father would have mentioned a few times probably. Probably explaining as much as she could without giving away the whole Vampire thing. She asked him to raise Emizel. And she did it in a way that would allow him to live a completely normal human life. She gave up seeing her son ever again so that he could have a happy human life. Which would be why she kept constant tabs on him, to make sure he was still safe and alive. Which would be why she didn't want Shilo to look into it or even mention it. Which was why she was crying when Shilo was leaving the castle in his Frenzy, because she lost the love of her unlife and her son in quick succession.

It would also explain why Jeffery didn't recognize Shilo, because he didn't know Shilo existed. Or the Queen would have had to mention why she was able to keep one child but not both, or at least why she couldn't keep both children in her side of the family.

This theory has a rating of 8.7, it seems the most likely as far as the two episodes have presented so far, but there's no telling if it'll hold up for the rest of The Suckening. I personally think that with the evidence we have now it'd be quite the interesting turn and would explain some of the odd plot holes of "Jeffery not recognizing Shilo" and Condi's mention of "a few months after birth" in regards to how long Emizel has known Jeffery, which was quite interesting.

Not Theory related, but if Grethgor isn't alive after what happened at the end of 2, bc I don't trust that Sheriff as far as I can throw him, I'mma be screaming, crying, throwing up, because how the Sheriff worded it made it seem like the order stayed the same but worded different to appease Shilo.

Also, shout out to @cant-think-to-save-my-life for listening to my theories, even the unhinged ones, and listening to me be hysterical when I'm having a new theory, and also when I'm hysterical about if Grethgor is alive or not, put up with a lot out me, but they signed up for it to be fair ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
