a few months ago i decided to post all the poems i wrote here to my tumblr and then life happened and i forgot i was doing that so uh. here ya go.

Scion of Sorrow

you came into the world in a screaming squall. your face an innocent mirror; my features untouched by desecration and pain. i float on a pool of pride. your cries like a lullaby, the song of my salvation. you are the best of us; the best of me. my young son, hearing voices we cannot discern; an all too familiar melody. the water rises, but i fight to stay afloat. you are the best of me; i will not fail you. red shards in your veins, your father's green eyes limned in pain and fear. this chant of calamity is my legacy to you, scion of sorrow. is there nothing i touch that stays untainted? the wave crashes. i fight for you, but it is not enough. i am never enough.
