hello in your infodumps in the notes on that post you said that about dan that 'his dad is homophobic and no longer in his life'. is that something we actually know? all i can remember is him talking about a homophobic remark his dad made one time

yes, dan's only talked about his dad making a homophobic remark one time, but that was really notable to me because like? dan stopped talking about his dad after a certain point in time. he used to mention him occasionally the way he mentions his mom and grandparents.

i'm pretty sure his parents separated which we maybe have more solid confirmation of but which i can never solidly remember the details on? it's not something that dan told us about. iirc that was around 2014/15. and dan fully stopped mentioning his dad Ever.

and then like. the one and only time he mentions his dad individually since then is in a main channel video where the only impression you get of him is that he was at best casually homophobic when dan was a little kid. that wouldn't be the ONLY acknowledgement of dan's dad if he didn't want to give the impression that his dad is homophobic.

& when i say his dad's no longer in his life, i don't mean dan's dad made that choice. i mean i think dan disowned his dad. and so does every other long time phannie i've discussed this with.
