From our trip to the @elysiumhotel This is the library. It felt like we were in a Palace. Like a Jane Austen. Proper ladies get together. The library was perfect for our event; a baby shower, meaning we could make as much noise as we wanted. It just meant that we were a little bit far from the staff so sometime we were a little out if sight out of mind I think when trying to get someone's attention. When the staff came though they were very polite and nothing was too much trouble. The afternoon tea was beautiful and their attention to details in the way they serve things was great. We ordered 2 vegetarian afternoon tea and it was no problem at all! Vegan is also available. There were SO many cakes and scones with clotted cream. The sandwiches were so tasty too. When we go again I think I will ask for less cakes and more sandwiches, which I'm sure will be fine. The sandwich fillings were very surprising as well as some traditional and they were all great. The hotel itself if 5 star and the decor and atmosphere is beautiful. I saw some really unusual 3D canvasses on the wall. Next time I want to find out who the artist is. Next on my list is to try their which is apparently also beautiful! Mandria is renowned for it's peanuts. Almost all the fields in mandria are sewn with peanuts seeds in season. There is even a festival every year where there's music, food and with your ticket you get free bags of the peanuts from that years crop! The agricultural machines do the harvest and then the local farmers let the villagers just go and hand pick whatever is left. It's one of my favourite things about living in Cyprus; that Raphael gets to grow up in touch with an outdoor life and learn about where things come from, how they are grown and what happens to them before they reach your plate! Some of the food from a lovely meal out at The Manzanillo in Kissonerga. Such a beautiful setting. Nice lighting. Gorgeous olive trees. The tables are nicely spaced out. Lovely ambient music. Mavrokolympos River... This is actually the dam they built on it! It's a fairly small dam and usually overflows fairly quickly. The water is used for the agricultural land of chlorakaand kissonerga. It was built in 1966 and is a great spot for bird watching.
