I momentarily considered making a “character parallels chart” for Black Sails to attempt to summarize my thoughts but then I realized that it’d look like a very fucked up shipping chart so I probably should... Not Do That.

Gotta say tho, there’s smth really funny to me about the idea of a chart that looks like a shipping chart but it’s just me drawing increasingly insane parallels between random characters. 

#this theoretical chart would probably have different colored lines depending on if it was smth Mimetic or just a normal parallel #bc there's def both in the show and it is an Important Distinction #some characters are paralleled by the narrative whereas others are actively doubling each other but it all leads to the #same 'oops! everyone is everyone' conclusion #but honestly - i don't think this kind of chart would cut it - as fun as it sounds #like. some parallels are super minor and unimportant but still There whereas others i could write essays on probably #i have Much To Say #i'm thinkin about this one thing and like... Boy..... #i'm sorry i'm being so vague about all this but like #i need to say this One Time and i need to get it Right #and i'm considering new thematic elements to the whole thing now and i am Thinking.... #i should honestly just rewatch the whole show with all of this in mind and then report back lol #yeah ya know what - i'm gonna do that #rewatch starts like. tomorrow ig lol #better get my Thots in order!
