Here I have put together a list of places you should visit if you want to go off the beaten path in Andhra Pradesh. Let’s check them out!
Lambasingi –
Lambasingi is a small village in the Visakhapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh. This place is often referred to as Kashmir of Andhra Pradesh. The temperatures here go as low as -2 °C in December – January.
With quaint valleys and chilling temperatures, Lambasingi is the only place in the southern region that sees snowfall. Apart from being the only place in the southern region that sees snow, Lambasingi is also home to an isolated tribal community that works at the pepper and coffee plantations. The vast expanse across which these plantations are spread is a sight to behold!
Yaganti
Yaganti in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh is renowned for Uma Maheshwara Temple of Lord Shiva. The temple dates back to 5th and 6th centuries with contributions spanning thousands of years from the Pallavas, Cholas, Chalukyas and Vijayanagara dynasties.
The Yaganti caves are found in close proximity to the famous Sri Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple and it consists of three main parts –
Agastya Cave

Veera Brahmam cave

Gandikota is a village in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, known for its fort which lies near the canyon formed by river Pennar with the Erramala hills.
Recently it has become more famous for the canyon and has begun to be referred to as ‘Grand Canyon of India’. The entrance to the fort has a granary used to store food during droughts by the Nayakas.
There are two temples and one masjid inside the fort complex. The fort complex also has gorgeous gardens. The other structures within the fort, include a big granary, an elegant ‘Pigeon Tower’ with windows and a palace built using decorated bricks.
Efforts are being put forth to give Gandikota a world heritage status.
Orvakal Rock Garden
Orvakal Rock Garden is a wonderful site with the profuse natural beauty of rock formations. It is located just 3 KMs from Orvakal village.
Orvakal Rock Garden is an exceptional silica and quartz rock formation place with beautiful surroundings. The rocks are fashioned around a natural lake in the middle of the site that increases the exquisiteness of the place.
This is one of the must-visit places around Kurnool. The garden has been a site for film production.  Baahubali – the beginning was also shot here.
Pulicat Lake
Nestled on the border of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, Pulicat Lake is India’s second largest lagoon. Although 90% of the lake falls in Andhra Pradesh, the other 10% comes under Protected Areas of Tamil Nadu.
This beautiful lake comes under the category of ‘brackish water’ lakes, that which is saltier than freshwater but not as much as seawater.
Previously known as “Pralaya Kaveri”, Pulicat Lake is home to a wide range of aquatic creatures and birds. Therefore, the lake has been turned into a bird sanctuary.
