Beta Queue:
One birthday prompt (Tony+analgesia) Three Happy Steve bingo fills (hint: colours, soulmates, and sharing a bed) My project with the amazing @franzwantscoffee is still in progress An dark-ish Ults thing I’m..... not sure about
Wips:
1) Prompt party continues! Once this next one is out of beta, I’ll be making another masterpost for the second group of eight. Work on this will likely slow for a little while as I have other things on my plate, but I do intend to come back to them.
2) @ashes0909 and I are still working away at Held Season Two! We also have been working on the Firefighter AU, wherein all Tony wants is to slide down Steve’s pole.
3) Still working on Yet I Will Try the Last, chapter two. It’s very, very close to being done, so I hope you’ll get to see that soon!
4) I still have quite a few Happy Steve squares to fill. Thanks to the MCU discord, I have ideas lined up for several of them, but we’ll see if I can manage a... line (*cough*) before the deadline.
5) I have two amazing winners for MTH! I’m so excited and so grateful for their super generous bids. Both fills are likely to be long, so it might be a little bit til you see them, but I’m beginning work on those right away!
6) Couple of things are floating on the backburner and we’ll see if any of them get picked up by the muse.
I have eight more work days and then I’M ON VACATION WOOOO. I have two weeks off, which I need desperately, and besides cleaning my furnace room (ugh) I plan to do a lot of writing and relaxing. I’m also visiting @ashes0909 so you might want to ignore me around Thanksgiving if you don’t want nothing but sappy sugary love declarations and then tears and sobbing and dedicating songs to each other after. We’re a hot mess, we know it, we accept it.

Things are slowly starting to fall into place around here...my anxiety has lessened somewhat as dates for future travel and work are finalized.
But today was also a little hectic, since I am subbing for a STEAM teacher at a local summer camp. Today the kids were just crazy! However I’ll admit it wasn’t just the kids that were a little off today - the staff (myself included) had a hard time staying focused and keeping things under control.
One of my biggest challenges as a counselor and educator has always been discipline and being authoritative. I have never been an assertive person, and it shows in how I handle situations with the kids. Rather than talk down to kids to fix a situation or yell at them, I’m very much a let’s-talk-it-out-together-and-figure-out-how-to-make-things-better. Although collaboration and getting kids involved in the problem-solving process is a great technique as a school counselor, as a substitute teacher and camp counselor it hasn’t worked so well.
Today, for instance, my big job was to run a 2.5 hour activity at the STEAM station. The previous teacher left me a coffee filter flower activity to do (which was SO FUN) but only about five kids ended up coming to my station to participate. This left another fifteen or so at the other art station and about fifteen at sports. After about an hour of no one really being interested in my activity, I was asked if I could add something else to my station to even the groups out. That made total sense, but ended up being more work for me, since I ended up having to manage the flower activity plus a group of rowdy boys playing with K’Nex...oy vey.
On that note, isn’t it amazing how much drama boys create?? You always hear about drama and relational aggression being a “girl thing”, but working as a summer camp counselor has certainly shown me that boys create their fair share of problems as well. They also tend to be more physical when trying to work out their issues.
I’m also buggin’ because the camp pays us bimonthly, and has been mailing me my paychecks instead of direct depositing them so I really only have like $30 for the next few days.....ugh.

Anyway today was a whirlwind, and it’s only Wednesday. The good news is that I’m not scheduled to work again this week! Hopefully this weekend turns out nice!
[One final note: does anyone remember this episode of the Fairly Odd Parents when Timmy’s gerbil, Eddie, comes back to life??? And he says his parents were supposed to have fed him while he was away at summer camp (camp, camp, camp, camp...). Good times.]
