それはさておき

少し晴れてたからダメ元で仕事後に撮りに行ったら

とても天の川沈む時間までに撮るポイントに届きそうになかったので

途中でとめて適当な田んぼで星撮った。

こういう変なの好きなので混ぜて蔵出しwww

hc + favorite season / things in nature

send me  ‘ hc ‘  + a word and i’ll write a headcanon about it regarding my character.

autumn in wallachia brings an onslaught of rain and a slow drop in temperature. snow kisses the mountain peaks in mid-october, sliding down into the forests of twisted fir and weakening birch. and when the fog rolls in with the promise of winter’s first blanket, the feast of saint andrew is already upon them. 

 he loved st. andrew’s day.

he recalled visiting hermannstadt as a young man, moist crimson leaves shredded beneath his heel. the mortals would stuff themselves with garlic and rub it across their windows and door frames, pouring salt across their thresholds to keep out any unwelcome guests.  but the best was the night of wolves; the thracian tradition where they were allowed to roam the city freely and be respected by men, allowed into the fields of their farms to eat whatever livestock they may want. He recalled smelling sweet basil and bushels of rosebush, apple and cherry tree branches. it was a night that he prowled in a coat of white fur, weaving invisibly through the fields of wooden houses and dilapidated churches that might’ve once held men to block his way.

he loved most the scent of the rivers in the autumn. a mineral-rich smell where carp and sturgeon gathered in near the stone. he loved the smell of freshly cut wheat as it was gathered for their windows. and the sight of gold and crimson trees that carved a stark border on the timberline.

it was a time of warm candlelight in his father’s study, and of hot hearth and delicious foods requested by his mother. warm dough baked in sugar and spice that filled him with love and memory. younger years would bring her close to his room, glass-lined boxes made by hand to display the brilliant maple leaves he’d bring in from outside. 

there was scarce more that he loved in the autumn as a child than becoming a little collector. strength spent on great bundles of pine branches and cones brought in to study and create little towers on the rug in his bedroom. snuck upstairs under the noses of vampire guardsmen who were less than interested in what he had to offer. 

their time in targoviste, in that warm, little cottage was among the best. a young man studying the sciences at his mother’s behest, barely understanding his father’s view on humanity and their superstitions and religions. but a unit. a family of the darkest and most sickeningly romantic means.

autumn was and is a time for him that means MEMORY. the good and the bad, the nostalgic and the painful. it is a time that he may be more traditional and simultaneously less social.
