im rereading septimus heap and i remembered your fanart… i actually love this series SO MUCH and ur like the only other person i know who’s read it AND MADE FANART so like. hi i guess. thanks!!!!! for the awesome fanart. ugh i love them so much

yeah sep heap is definitely one of those books from my childhood that are sort of permanently ingrained in my brain and im pretty sure had a lasting effect on how i approach fantasy. something something stories that center on family and friendship something nontraditional fantasy with folklore influences. somethin about the illustrations too i think. anyway here's a doodle for you.

for the ask game — its gotta be that one scene in aftermath where zelda and link are in the kitchen and theyre fighting over where the forks go and its such a random scene but. i think about it so much because it makes them just so human and real, squabbling about something trivial because neither of them have slept in a week. honestly i’ve been meaning to tell you this for a while but haven’t had the opportunity but this is one of my absolute favourite things about ur fics — how you make the characters so honest and believable and individual even while they are part of the larger themes at play in the narrative. imo it just makes everything that much more poignant and lovely to read. anyway yeah i think about the fork scene way too much. hope you have a really great day/night <3

the fork scene is very special to me too because it’s, like, the most domestic they’ve ever been at that point in time. It’s also right before shit starts to get Real and the plot kicks in, so it’s that last little bit of normalcy Link and Zelda have before they embark on their little road trip vacation that turns into something bigger than they could have ever imagined.

thank you for the compliment also!! character work is my favorite part of writing, making these fake people come alive with all of these facets and flaws, and the fork scene was actually where I really started making Link and Zelda “mine” in terms of their characterizations, how they speak, etc. it makes me so happy to know something about that stuck out to you!

HI okay i was scrolling through your art tag (your art is awesome btw) and i saw the septimus heap fanart you drew like really long ago and holy shit my brain exploded bc i so forgot about how much i used to like that series. i’ve read the series like 5 times. and the way you drew them is just. WOW. my kiddos. they are alive and on paper now. this is so long and random i’m sorry but it really flipped me out,,, my inner ten year old is rolling on the ground screaming. thanks for the time travel experience lmao.

hell yeah!!! yeah occasionally I will remember those books exist and be like hm. I should do art about that. and then every couple years I actually do so but yeah they’re such a big part of my childhood and I’m so happy to see my art invoke that same nostalgia in other people!!!
