thinking about how katniss repeatedly expresses her self-image of being an unfriendly and frigid and somewhat mean person, yet she attracts the attention and love of so many people - the baker wanting to take care of her sister but also choosing to visit her, madge being her best girlfriend and giving her the mockingjay pin, cinna taking a liking to her and being the person she can open up to emotionally despite her reservations and desire for privacy, delly saying everyone at school was intimidated by her amazing qualities, effie growing attached to katniss and wanting her to live a life of happiness, and even her prep team (superficial and vapid and embodying the capitol ideals, people she should have despised on principle) have a relationship with her based on mutual fondness...

katniss always regarded peeta as the social extrovert and friendly one who could inspire others, but at the same time, like peeta said, "she has no idea, the effect she can have." katniss might be more shy than peeta but she also does form relationships with others and endears people to her because of her kindness and empathetic nature.
