i saw "bondi rescue" and "the pacific" and immediately started SWEATING in excitement -lewis-winters

asfjkhd i love that i'm not the only one excited about this development, and also the overlap between bondi rescue fans and the hbo war fandom is not something i had predicted

i just answered another ask about this but it was so uninformative on my part that i don't think it's worth even linking here lmao i mentioned how it's gonna be a bit more slice of life than usual and more about dynamics and character focused and just a bit more of a fun writing experience than my usual pit of despair and angst, but i also have this overwhelming urge to drown someone we love, so hey, maybe i'll drown one of the lads and see what happens :)

kinda obsessed with the ocean taking what it wants, when it wants. god, what if i drowned eddie? that'd be fun. ack ack's "eddie" whisper beachside, knee deep in the water, every single night, because they couldn't find eddie's body, and now his whispers are more of a calling, a desperate plea to the waves to bring him back, and to eddie, wherever he is. ack ack paddling out past the shark nets in the darkness as an offering to the ocean: take me instead. give him back.

ahh decisions, decisions!

anyway, pro-surfer-turned-lifeguard hoosier all the way!!!! that man not moving for anything but then taking on those massive fucking waves like it's nothing? yes please!

niehcikwpapxojcjeh don’t mind me coming back lmao. “stupid bondi rescue au for the pacific what r u doing stop typing” for the WIP ask game because i’m pretty sure that we’re the only HBO War fans that also like Bondi Rescue. i must know more about this!!

hello lou!!! well, surprise surprise, apparently there are more fans that overlap the two than we thought!! i got four asks about it so maybe we can form a little club after all!

ok so i already answered two about this au here and here

they're rather conflicting answers lmao but generally it's just gonna be a bit of fun for me and i'll probably upload it eventually as a little serialised thing focused on characters and little incidents and such. maybe i'll even make it more of a tumblr post series thing with moodboards and short oneshots, i'm just writing little scenes that interest me and thinking about everyone's dynamics working together and what their strengths and weaknesses as lifeguards would be, who would be in what role etc.

kinda considering writing a more serious piece bc i do enjoy piling on the angst, but it's bondi rescue at the end of the day, so probably gonna be focused on the boys and their antics!

but i would once again like to draw attention to pROFESSIONAL SURFER TURNED LIFEGUARD BILL HOOSIER SMITH BECAUSE THIS IS ALL I NEED TO BE HAPPY ACTUALLY

stupid bondi rescue au for the pacific what r u doing stop typing

as an Aussie I have to ask about it lmao

as is your duty ofc! lmaoo but yeah, bondi rescue is one of my silly little comfort shows and i couldn't help but start daydreaming about our fav boys as lifeguards at bondi. it started off as a bit of a lighthearted joke imagining who would do a jesse/harrison trying to get the rat out of the skate bowl or who'd be terrified being sent to check the shark nets, etc, but then i started writing things down and planning things out and now it's a thing that is happening bc my brain has decided this is what the world needs. the pacific boys have their little connection to australia so in my head, that was the greenlight needed to write a bondi rescue au for them lmao! so now we have head lifeguard ack ack, deputy/senior lifeguard eddie, and all their boys getting up to all kinds of antics on the beach!

this hasn't really given much info about it bc i've written a lot of little scenes that aren't necessarily narratively connected yet, but it's gonna be pretty slice of life and more about dynamics and little things happening anyway, so a bit of fun really (until the bluebottles come out and everyone starts panicking)
