chan is the youngest prince among the 13. dont ask me how they're all royalty together, i'll probably say adoption or something. but he's the youngest among them, and therefore he's just... kind of the person who gets teased the most. they tease one another, sure (they all goof up too often to Not give one another shit) but he's the baby, time to bully him--

except for you, his personal guard. you've known chan pretty much ur whole life, and while you can gently tease him a little sometimes, you care a lot for him. not that his hyungs don't--he knows they do--but its nice how much you look out for him. he's caught you gently shutting down someone's teasing when you know he's having a bad day, or seen the way you always have a watchful eye on him when he's with the others. maybe its because ur both the same: you're the youngest among the royal guards. like him, you show a lot of promise. so you were tasked with keeping chan safe by watching over him.

unfortunately, the downside of being royalty is tht there's a target on his back and he has to be careful. he can handle himself pretty well, but it doesn't mean things don't happen. so when he wakes up in a holding cell the night after a ball, wrists bound, he knows bad shit is going to go down. he finds out he's being held for ransom (but suspects they'll kill him anyway once they get what they want). chan remembers when he hid from you once with the others--he was younger then, and jeonghan had talked him into it. he remembers the call of your panicked voice, but the way you seemed to find him with ease (before you chewed him out for the one and only time you've done it) while your eyes were still glowing, a strand of his hair still stuck between your fingers.

see, the thing people don't know about you (that he and his brothers have sworn to keep secret) is that you're magic. you told him you hide it so people don't think you're overly reliant on it, because you've trained hard to earn your position. but you tracked him with a spell then, so chan just kinda kicks back and waits knowing that you'll do your magic and find him again. the only thing he's actually afraid of is the fact you might straight up bring an army.

(you do. they give you time to go into the fortress on your own, but they'll storm it once they have a solid plan. cheol is sure of that since there was literally no way u were going to come here without him)

you show up, you straight up kill a guy in front of him, and then waste no time literally melting the lock to free him. and then you immediately call him an idiot for accepting a drink when you weren't there to watch him and then wandering off, only telling mingyu that he started to feel unwell. he expects you to rant a lil longer, about to tell you to save it until he's safe at home, but then you hug him tight and tell him you were terrified you really lost him this time.

(and then he realizes all the teasing about how oblivious he was to someones reciprocated affections made sense.)

oooh... tbh i think i'd straight up just go for a joshua prequel for cause you're my flower.

this is probs gonna get long so uh. tw for angst + illness depictions via hanahaki + hospital mentions + also suffocation mentions (via the flowers). if you skipped the seungkwan fic, you should probably skip this too.

like. you know how it ends, sure, but i think there's a lot to say about joshua meeting reader in their sophomore year of college and falling for her (altho i can easily go back and change details to make this gn!reader) since there's not the full story in the other fic. i think it'd be a slower thing than illustrated of joshua slowly falling until he's in love. he decides to go ahead and act by asking you out, and you turn him down because you only ever thought of him as a friend. he accepts it with a smile and says that he hopes this doesn't damage your friendship at all: he still cares about you, and it isnt your fault he fell for you. just a very clear 'you aren't responsible for his feelings, it's his job to deal with them on his own.'

except he goes home and starts feeling... off. jeonghan comes back to their apartment and joshua coughs up flower petals, and both just immediately know whats going on. i dont remember if i said what joshua's flowers were? i don't think i did. maybe chrysanthemums since they mean death in some places in the world. jeonghan tells him he needs to see a doctor, joshua says he will.

and then he just... never does since he knows getting the flowers removed means he'll stop caring about his friend. he won't be able to love you at all if they're taken from him. he thinks, still stinging from rejection, that he'd rather die than live without you in his life. he told you that he wanted to stay friends with you, how was he supposed to turn around and tell you 'lol nvm, i can't see you ever again'??? he can't.

not all cases are fatal. joshua knows this. he just hopes he'll be lucky. he stays your friend and hides the petals well, because he just can't lose you. it eats him up inside to hear you talk about some dick you like (not out of jealousy--joshua has told you over and over that the guy you're crushing on is an asshole, but you claim he's always been nice to you, and he genuinely fears for you).

jeonghan fights with him. he calls him an idiot, and tells him that his mom keeps begging him to say something??? to find a way to convince you? she's tried so hard to get him to see a doctor, and she tells him she'll be flying back from the US to see him and help him through everything. it breaks him a bit when jeonghan tells him what she said: that she can't lose her son.

just. joshua angst. hes deeply conflicted between his love for his mom and his friends and the guilt he feels over this happening all because you didn't love him back, which isn't even your fault. he reads online where some ppl talk about how they hated the other person because of the flowers putting them through hell, people who did recover well, people who didn't... jeonghan comes into his room one night and takes his phone, setting it aside before curling up with him and telling him he has to take care of himself or he'll die. his mom doesn't want to lose her son. he doesn't want to lose his best friend, either.

he wakes up in the middle of the night coughing up flowers, climbing over jeonghan to make it to the bathroom in time. the buds are getting bigger, and he just stares at them with wet eyes bc it hurts so bad. and deep down, he thinks he should just accept it. he's the one who fell for you. it's his own fault for not loving someone who loved him back.

things get worse. you catch him coughing up petals (and an actual flower, but that much you don't see) one day, before it gets bad, and you confront him about it. he tells you outright that he didn't want you to feel guilty because it isn't your fault. you remind him that it is, and he only tells you that he could never hate you. you tell him he should because you don't love him back the way he deserves to be loved. you wish you could, at least to stop his suffering. you tell him that as much as you do love him as your friend, you'll make things easier for him and let this be the last time the two of you see one another. you've been planning on transferring to a different school for a while. you weren't sure how to tell him since you didn't want him to think it was because of this--you just had better scholarships there and the program was better for your major. but since the two of you don't share any classes anymore, you'll stop seeing him entirely. with one last hug, you tell him to please take care of himself and that you do love him (still not in the way that would fix this).

he goes home and probably just kind of breaks down in his kitchen after telling himself that he's completely fine. that this is good. but he can still feel shit in his throat, and he drops a glass, and it all just kind of comes crashing down around him. he texted jeonghan on the ride back about what happened, and he said he'd be home in a few minutes but he'd stop and grab him something sweet from the store. just as a tiny distraction from how much he's hurting. he sinks down onto the floor as he lets himself cry the way he needs to, everything just kind of coming to a crescendo.

and then he just realizes he can't catch his breath anymore. he reaches for his phone, trying to breathe. the door opens and he hears jeonghan call out for him, only to hear him scream his name before immediately pulling out his phone. the paramedics are on the way, and jeonghan is doing the best he can, guided by the person on the phone to help him. by the time they arrive, he's passed out and they're already working to clear his airways and making the call for an emergency procedure.

when joshua wakes up fully (coming in and out of consciousness for days bc fucking ouch), its to the sound of his mom talking to the nurse taking his vitals. he rouses, and the nurse is gentle before leaving to get his doctor. his mom cries and hugs him tight, calling him stupid for the first time since he did something dangerous as a child. but his limbs feel heavy as lead, and he tries his best to hold her and apologize.

when the doctor starts to ask questions, joshua realizes that... he doesn't remember anything about the person he fell in love with at all. not their name, the way they look, etc. and jeonghan has to be the one who steps in and tells him that the person isn't in his life anymore. its not unheard of for joshua to not remember anything about the person he fell in love with, but it isn't exactly common. they'll check back with him in a few days since he's staying for observation until he can be released: sometimes patients wake up not remembering, but remember more over the following days.

and he doesn't. joshua begs jeonghan to tell him something while his mom is out of the room (to get a proper meal--after joshua begged and jeonghan reassured her that he'd stay until she came back). so jeonghan agrees to tell him the basics: he met someone. he fell in love. they rejected him. and then he came home and began coughing up petals, and refused to get help to the point where jeonghan came home and found him collapsed on the floor. all of it gives him a headache, but he's thankful to have a little piece of his story back with him.

uh idk where i'd go from here. i'd probs leave jeonghan's story out and unwritten for a reason, but i'd maybe end it off a few years later with joshua getting the call from seokmin asking if he could convince his friend to go through with it bc he remembers enough about the suffering he went through. and joshua agrees without a second thought, not wanting anyone else to go through what he did.

dino soulmate au !! i don't have a specific trope in mind, but im curious to see which one you think fits him best :D

hii <3 hmm... technically dino was where i left off on my soulmate series (which is currently paused until i finish either sweet night (more likely) or under the sun (unlikely lol), then i'll try to finish out those fics before i start a new series), so i'll avoid what i've got planned for him there

ill play around w a lil bit of angst. reader has lost the soulmate that they were dating ever since they met in high school bc (insert cause of death here). not even minutes after he's dead, the name lee chan writes itself across the back of their hand. out of resentment for the universe immediately pairing you up right after you lose the love of your life, you resolve to keep the stupid name covered as much as you can and never meet this lee chan the universe is replacing your soulmate with.

elsewhere, chan realizes that there's a name written up his forearm that he didn't have before. a certain percentage of ppl are born w/o soulmates, and chan always thought he was one of them until now. he probably excitedly shows it off to his friends (only abt half of which have soulmates imo bc i like having a mixed bag there), and they promise to let him know if they happen to run into someone w his own name on them.

enter jeonghan, currently going through practicum to become a licensed therapist. enter, you on a summer day without a bandage on the back of your hand and his friend's name contrasting your skin in neat lettering. also enter the fact that jeonghan can't say/do anything about giving out your information because of violations, so he's stuck trying to figure out how he can lead you or chan to one another.

ultimately, he figures out a way: you mumble one day a week or two later that your favorite coffee shop is closed for renovations because you'd always treat yourself with something sweet from there, jeonghan asks if he can make a suggestion, and he pushes you toward one of chan's favorite places before immediately getting both seungkwan and vernon on the task of getting chan there. you end up sitting in the corner to kinda just people watch and chill post-therapy session and wait on your drink. your name gets called out, and you notice the way another guy's head snaps up immediately. you retreat to your corner with your drink, only to hear the name lee chan read out soon enough and you aren't taking any chances. you get up to leave, and immediately the guy tails you out and asks for you to stop before rolling his jacket sleeve back to reveal where your name is boldly written along his arm.

you tell him you aren't interested. he's immediately heartbroken by that kind of talk, but asks for your number anyway because he'd at least like to be your friend if nothing else. you give it to him after making it clear you aren't looking for a new lover, and then leave.

and idk insert more stuff abt you and chan getting closer until you finally open up and mention tht ur in grief counseling bc of ur soulmate dying and that you'd always hated chan (as a concept--you like him now as a person) because it wasn't even five minutes before his name appeared on you. he apologizes, you tell him not to bc its not his fault, and the two of you agree to take ur friendship slow.

insert chan feeling guilty as he falls for you. insert u feeling guiltier because you fell harder after that and you try to push him away again. fic culminates in you admitting to him or to a friend that you're terrified of losing another soulmate. maybe its w a family member of deceased soulmate who reassures you that he would want you to be happy before asking if it had been you, wouldn't you want him to move on one day? it ends w you crying on them and apologizing because you feel like ur betraying ur first soulmate, but accepting that its okay to move on.

its just a lot of talk abt grief and whatnot lol with a side of chan helping you heal because he wants to be there for you, romantic feelings or not. you confess to him that you've fallen for him and ask to take things slow now and the fic ends off with the two of you going to get coffee together or something

oooh... i'm a sucker for tht kind of thing. def not when its taken to the level of 'is a dick to everyone but you' but i do think the idea of feeling safer expressing things w someone special.

i think i can see cheol not being a dick, but he's just more openly doting with you a lot more? office worker au where ur all at the same company, and while he does check in with others, he makes the excuse that you're the newest hire so he's just making sure you're adjusting well. and then ppl point out that he's never been this warm to anyone except jeonghan (and sometimes shua) and even then he took forever to open up to them a lil more. he literally drove you home last week AND stopped to get you dinner. the one time seungkwan needed a ride, cheol took him straight home ??? and told him to go ahead and get inside meanwhile you were literally kinda gushing abt how sweet he is bc he parked and walked you to ur door.

this might not be what you mean but just... cheol who dotes on u So much compared to everyone else. not to the point where you get away with certain things, he'll still correct you, but he'll buy you lunch or leave a snack on your desk or quietly leave a new pack of sticky notes for you, etc. chan asked him for the sticky notes tht were next to him and cheol told him to get them himself. cheol excuses it as you being on a sales call, but chan says the notes were closer to him last time!!! he could at least throw them!!!

cheol comes in after a meeting with a client to see a bouquet of roses on his desk. he loudly asks who did this (while ur not in the room) and if its a prank. everyone's a lil lost and he just puts them aside to give away later. other ppl leave at the end of the day, while you shyly approach and ask him if he liked the flowers and that you heard from seungkwan that he was pissed abt them. he realizes they're from you, and immediately softens up and says he loves them and asks why you sent them. you kinda dance around the subject a lil before saying you like him and the others kept pointing out how he was like... so doting toward you? and it kinda made you realize oh he likes you back. hes like ah. ill kill them later for telling you that >:( since he'd want to confess on his own terms ykno?

but you just kinda laugh and say that they were reassuring you--you had ur suspicions because cheol doesnt get anyone else snacks from the vending machine. well. except jeonghan when he begs and cheol tells him no before buying an extra snack for him anyway. you asked him once and he asked what you wanted and told you not to pay him back when you offered.

ooo... single dad gyu is. clutches chest. it rly doesnt help i've been having baby fever recently for reasons that it admittedly took me a hot minute to realize what they were. but thats not important lol

i feel like theres a lot i can do with single parent aus since i've talked abt a jeonghan one w my moots (holly and livvie if u see this... mwah <3) once (which i'm also happy to talk abt if anyone's curious). for creativity's sake, i'll go with a different plot for single dad gyu <3

gyu is a single dad who has sole custody of his kid for probably undescribed reasons unless i wanna get into it if i write it. he's happy, tho: he loves his daughter more than anything else and is completely happy just working to support her. he usually hires a sitter or asks his friends to watch her if they aren't working that day (some of them like... adore her to the point where gyu whines if they're Too doting bc thats his baby!!! he should be her number 1 person!!! not uncle wonu!!!). hes got stuff figured out. sometimes ppl ask abt him dating again since he's not exactly happy single, but he kinda just insists that he'll be good for now--he'd rather wait until his daughter is a little older.

and then enter you: a new server at the restaurant he works in. his coworker, junhui, immediately realizes that mingyu's a smidge bit smitten within the first few weeks of you working there bc u do ur job well and you're a kind person?? just something abt the combination makes him a lil flustered when interacting with you. mingyu just kinda chalks it up to you being new, but you're the one who helps him wash and bandage a cut when he wasn't watching his fingers once. you end up giving him ur number to talk more, mingyu is painfully oblivious that ur trying to flirt a lil w him since the two of u get along, and he goes home to spend time with his daughter before he has to put her to bed for the night.

about a month or so of very obvious flirting (to everyone But gyu), his daughter gets sick. hes stuck at work, so are pretty much all of his friends, but you're about to leave for the day when mingyu asks you for a huge favor. he'll call the preschool and get everything arranged for you to pick her up (probs by showing ID and confirming ur the person mingyu gave permission to), plus he'll tell you where the spare key is, he just needs you to take her home and watch her for about an hour until his friend can get there. so you agree to it, and he's relieved.

and then he goes home to see you and wonwoo sitting on the couch, talking. you apologize bc you meant to leave waaay earlier but wonwoo was telling u abt college shenanigans (mingyu is like Oh No) and showing you baby pictures (bc wonu is best uncle for a reason) and the two of u just kinda help talking. mingyu panics for a moment, wondering if this means ur into wonu, but wonu kinda pushes him straight into walking you out and making sure u get a cab home and u kinda just. ask him out for coffee, but not explicitly calling it a date.

idk more plot of u and mingyu p much dating and growing closer before mingyu has to recognize he's falling for you. straight up would have a lil convo with his daughter, whos old enough to understand, abt him bringing someone into their lives (maybe w the 'but if they treat you badly, you can tell me' bc they're a package deal and he's not going to be w someone who treats either of them horribly). happy ending of u and gyu in love <3 maybe w a timeskip of you moving in with him and loving the lil family the three of you have become

ok i took a lil break from these (she says 20 hours after u sent this) and im not actually a 100% on which jihoon u mean BUT ive been getting a ton of trsr reqs so im gonna assume its tht jihoon!! if it just happens to be my wooahae man pls just send this again bc ill absolutely talk abt him too

frenemies to lovers tho omg... you and jihoon have always been like. friendly enough with one another. u both are on opposing volleyball teams (co-ed in general btw just to keep stuff gn) and ppl think that you two actually hate each other on the court because you constantly trash talk one another. its all in good fun, but there have def been a few instances where one of you genuinely ended up mad at the other bc it was taken too far (usually made up for with paying for the other's meal and apologizing). honestly i think the two of u just have friends in common too, so ur friendly w one another overall. the enemies part just comes out bc ur on rival teams and the two of u just happen to be competitive abt volleyball.

hmm... honestly i think there could be some kind of misunderstanding scenario here tht takes it from frenemies to legit enemies for a lil bit, but only with it coming after some one-on-one bonding (aka the falling for one another bit) and some sort of deal that he'll tell you a secret if your team beats him at the next major match between the two of u. maybe u get legit pissed at jihoon based off something you heard him say, but didnt get the full story since you had practice. ur aggressive during the next game, things escalate, and end up in an argument after someone gets hurt. ur team loses and u take off, kind of just pissed in general. jihoon ends up finding u where u usually go when ur mad (maybe a park or something) and sets down a sports drink next to you. serious convo abt what was said, jihoon clears it up, and u feel a lil dumb and apologize to him.

he asks if you remember the deal, and you do but point out that ur team lost. he makes a comment that he didnt say he wouldn't tell you if you lost--just that he would definitely do it if you won... and also his team is refusing to let him back down again. so he confesses he likes you and wants to take you on a date tonight. u point out tht his team is supposed to be celebrating and he says that he can celebrate after their next win and you can come along then, too, as his partner. its a lil cheesy and you tease him abt 'what if i don't like you back? hm?' but he chases after you and holds ur hand and asks what you wanna get for dinner and that he'll be a ~gracious~ date and pay for you too And walk you home afterward (bc he knows you'll tease him back over it all)

omg no ur good! i answered a few last night before i slept for a bit and now im finally back after getting dinner <3 (as u can probs tell from the gap between the last ask and the one before it)

sdfkhdsf i both love and hate this trope bc i both would and wouldnt date a rich bitch. like eat the rich but also.... i would enjoy a money.

despite the nice place you work in, all you get paid for ur server job is minimum wage. the only thing stopping you from quitting is the fact that rich people tip rly fucking well half the time, plus if you laugh at their stupid jokes they'll like you more. insert: kwon soonyoung, the CEO of some company you stopped caring about minutes after you overheard business talk. for some reason, he always comes to this restaurant and he apparently always requests you (your coworker, vernon, says that he said you 'take really good care of him' aka you literally just do your job??? you don't understand it). but the guy does give really good tips (and sorta nudges for his partners to do the same there)...

so u and soonyoung are friendly enough with one another. he asks what you do outside of this (hobbies or school or w/e), you tell him you're a grad student, and hes impressed bc wow u must work hard considering ur always also working here during the day (to which you admit you switched to the online program for personal reasons).

more convos. sometimes he asks how you're doing and its genuinely sweet. sometimes he comes in alone for a lunch by himself and he still requests you. and then one day he asks if you actually aren't interested in him. ur confused, and he mentions he left you his number like... three times on a napkin. he even drew a lil tiger next to it and wrote 'call me! :)' too. ur confused and he says he thinks you're sweet and wanted to ask you out for drinks one day. u admit that u weren't the one to clear the table the last few times, and kinda outright say 'you should have just given me ur number' but he admits he got shy w tht. idk what else to put here rn but maybe u take him up on the offer for drinks and ur worlds kinda open up a bit more as u talk to him more genuinely. he talks abt the struggles of family pressure, u talk abt grad school n family stuff, and u just kinda find a home with one another through tht even though u have two very different living situations.

oof isa this hurts me... its so hard to see yoshi hating Anyone enough to be flat-out enemies with them. im stealing from my seungkwan one where its "enemies but we were also like 4 when we became enemies" and they just never fully let go of it until now.

insert misunderstanding between you and yosh, both children at the time, that results in you yelling at him that you hate him forever (again, you're like 3-4 here) and him crying over it. despite the talking to you get from your parents, you (in your infantile rage) stick to it rather than forget about it like everyone kind of expects? which. yknow, not ideal, but the two of you aren't in the same class after that year so people just kinda forget. every time u see him tho u are filled with rage and he scowls at u. both of ur parents are sure the two of you will grow out of it, but pushing you two back together is only gonna make things worse. you're kids, sure, but you're allowed to be upset. yosh doesn't forgive you right away bc it rly hurt his feelings, and the two of you don't rly ever reconcile. ur later interactions growing up end up being arguments, and the two of u just end up avoiding each other as much as u can

blah blah post-college you start an internship at a new company only to run right back into yoshi, a new hire at the same place, and all of tht bad blood kinda comes back for you (and him, a little, too--but he doesn't think he seriously hates you at all anymore). its less mutual enemies to lovers and more "you're still upset with him bc the two of you used to be close as tiny kids and then never reconciled" and "yosh is visibly awkward around you to the point where other ppl comment on it since he's unsure of how to tread this."

... alternatively: supervillain au where ur the villain and yosh is one of the ppl trying to stop you until the truth comes out abt the ppl ur trying to bring down and the two of you (maybe w others) are made into a team to stop (insert corrupt business) from harming more ppl. the two of you are openly against the idea of working together, but you've got the common goal tht makes you set it aside... even if theres some messy spots there. probably results in one of you getting injured and having the other watch over u and some deep talks. maybe even a panicked confession later. ooough i can imagine like. serious moment of maybe reader having to sacrifice themself to stop shit from going back and yosh yelling that he Loves you and he doesnt want to lose you, but you let him go in order to save the greater good........ lies down on the floor

you moved in with your family when you were little because of a parent's new job. honestly, i can see seungmin being a liiil awkward at first? just because new person + the two of you are both kids... there's a lot there of "will they like me :(" n whatnot, yknow? probably has a week where the two of you are awkward but both of your parents are kinda pushing you to be friends because 1. he's your neighbor, 2. you're close in/are the same age, and 3. u need a friend. he has friends. in a completely new place, you don't. honestly its probs something like he and his friends are gonna go play and his mom reminds him to invite you, he groans but does it, and then at some point the two of you click as friends and he starts inviting you to play games w him a lot more.

collection of awkward teen years of growing up. i could see him maybe being on a baseball team and making you come to his games (you'd gladly go anyway to support him). the two of you start crushing on one another, but (individually) decide against doing anything since its close to the end of high school and it probably won't last.

college applications. he's staying in the city for school, you're going abroad. the two of you plan to keep in touch, but life happens and kind of lose contact with one another after a while.

a couple years (and a college graduation) later, you're moving back into the city into your new tiny apartment since you'll be starting a new job soon. you make new friends in your coworkers, you invite a few of them over one friday to drink n whatnot, only to get loud pounding on your door when things get a lil too rowdy.

lo and behold, seungmin lives right next door to you, and he's shocked to see you there. he's in law school now and he was coming to ask you to be quieter because he's studying (yes on a friday night, he has a test on monday and he has to pick up his coworkers shifts this weekend --he won't ask for peace every friday night, but he can't afford to fail this test)... only for you to invite him in and immediately introduce him to some of your friends (other skz members, probs chris and someone else). and its incredibly clear that those feelings between you are still very much there. And Then Love Happens as the two of you become friends again lol

hmm... consider........ professor wen junhui... you and jun are both professors int he same english (lit) department (alongside like. wonwoo and probably hao). honestly a lot of ppl probably notice how ur offices are right next to one another, so whenever you both aren't giving lectures, one of u is sometimes chatting up the other in their office. ppl swear that ur only ever talking abt work, but like... it happens often enough tht ppl start to get suspicious, yknow? esp because both of you pretty much introduced yourselves as unmarried/single when someone asked (nosy freshmen, usually)...

plus if a student has to make up a test for any reason and one of you can't be there, the other is Always the person to go to. jun has straight up emailed his student that something came up but that you've graciously offered to let his student take their make-up test in your office, just please don't bother you too much because you're a busy person who he highly respects.

you're also in charge of like. the study abroad program that usually includes literature majors, history majors, mainly just ppl who are in the humanities, and ppl absolutely notice that (in early spring semester) jun has this fond smile on his face whenever you come around to give your spiel to his students about signing up and where to find your office. or ppl notice the fact that the two of you occasionally eat in the dining hall with other faculty, and that jun is Always listening to you with the exact same 'i am so in love with you rn' smile on his face?? or the way you bring jun coffee in the mornings.

like. its so obvious that the two of u are in love. ppl say theyve seen the way you've interacted w the theatre department!! and the jealous way jun looks at dr choi and dr lee!!!! bc seokmin is always so warm toward you!!! hes obviously jealous!!! why doesnt he just ask u out already!!! or u ask him out!!!!! this is the worst slow burn in the world--

meanwhile ur sitting with a student one day, giving them feedback on their rough draft when jun starts to kind of hover around outside ur office. u finish up w the student and tell them to email you if they need any further assistance (or to go to the writing center, tbh, you are a busy person but you can understand confused freshmen), and jun comes in as you pack your things away. it isnt until you get to the parking lot that he holds your hand, already talking about the new restaurant that seokmin was telling him about downtown. he's heard rly good things and figured maybe the two of you could check it out before maybe celebrating your three-year anniversary there next month...?

idk i just like the idea of 'omg theyre obviously into each other!!! but they deny it :(' while the couple has just been together for a while, they just like their privacy

ok technically. im cheating bc ive had this au in my drafts for a while. hades//town au where hao is eurydice and reader is orpheus. important note is that its less obc orpheus and more live album hopeless romantic orpheus. hao is highly guarded towards others, while reader is a hopeless romantic child of a muse who's a little overly confident in their abilities. hao at first distrusts you (he's seen other people who take a smile, a compliment, and assume it means he's easy) but slowly begins to fall for you as he realizes 1. you aren't that kind of person and 2. you seem to genuinely want to change things. at first he thinks you're naive, but... he can't deny wishing things would change, too, deep down. he admires your confidence.

the two of you get married pretty fast and enjoy the spring and summer, falling more in love with each day. the goddess of spring is there and plenty of nights you fall asleep, drunk and happy with your lover by your side. and its too early when she leaves again, the train coming with her husband stepping off. she leaves, and the life in the world leaves with her. you go back to working on your song again, more dedicated to it than before while hao keeps the two of you afloat. eventually you stop answering him, and he decides he has to save himself by going to hades and finding employment there. i think he regrets it soon after he realizes he's losing himself in doing so.

you finish the song and go to show him, only to discover he left. so you, with directions from your friend and mentor, follow the path to the underworld to get him back. ultimately: you do, although not without new bruises and blood spilled as you realize that hao left you willingly (but you forgive him when he cries to you). you impress the king of the underworld with a song that reminds him of his own love, and he gives you one chance to leave with hao. you walk ahead of him, and you can't turn back. its a test of trust. but the underworld is draining, and the farther you go, the less you can hear him behind you. the more you remember that he left you once, he could do it again. was your love not enough? did hao have so little faith in you? doubt comes in, and you step into the last rays of winter sunlight with silence behind you.

and when you turn, minghao is right there, wide-eyed and afraid at seeing your face. "you're early," he says quietly.

and you start to cry. "i missed you."

and then he fades away, right outside of your reach.

florist asahi au. u are coworkers. for the longest time, you don't think asahi likes you because he's not the warmest around you tbh? like you get along okay because you're coworkers (although you do think hes rly cute--have u seen the way he carefully puts together arrangements?? he cares so much), but he's not super talkative with you (or with most people, but you swear you've heard him talk to yoshi and a couple other coworkers more than he's ever spoken to you). hyunsuk is the one whos just dropping massive hints that asahi Does like you, he's just too shy to say it.

its around valentines day that u stay rly late at the shop to work on orders tht ppl will be picking up. you fall asleep for a bit at ur station, just wanting a few minutes of rest, and when u wake up theres an energy bar and ur fave bottled drink waiting for you along with a note to rest well. u ask around to find out who left it, and everyone denies doing it. ur talking in the back with someone (jaehyuk maybe) about who it could possibly be and go through the entire list of ur coworkers. he asks why you skipped asahi, and you say tht asahi hates you. clearly he wouldn't do it.

asahi looks up from where he's wandered in for a moment and says he doesn't hate you. you point out tht his behavior says otherwise, and he just kinda implies that just bc ur not close friends doesn't mean he hates you outright. jaehyuk sitting there watching this :) knowing exactly why asahi never talks to you. jaehyuk waits until he leaves to be like "why don't you try talking to asahi more?" before saying something about how he can be awkward with people before he rly gets to know them. insert ppl switching to try and push u two together. insert jaehyuk also mentioning that asahi also gets awkward around ppl he rly likes too but hes a good dude, rly. u just kinda roll ur eyes like yeah ok whatever hes awkward i get it.

hes still quiet and not rly talkative toward you but you spot an energy bar in his bag one day while he's putting it up and its the same one tht was left for you. you confront him, he gets flustered and says it must have been a coincidence, and you push him on it further and ask why he would leave you things when he doesn't like you. he kinda gets at a loss for words, and it just suddenly clicks in ur mind that he doesn't hate you. he likes you. thts why jaehyuk literally gave u the answer. maybe some sort of teasing 'you shouldn't ignore ur crush then' before he outright asks if you're busy this weekend and if you want to go to the art museum w him.

asahi lives in the apartment on campus across from ur own with his three roommates. the two of you have shared classes together n whatnot, and he's been kinda crushing hard but he doesn't know how to Tell You that. you notice that sticky notes keep getting put on your apartment's door, addressed to you, with lil nice things like 'have a good day', sometimes with a tiny doodle next to them. one of your roommates teases you that you have a secret admirer and you just kinda roll your eyes but continue to collect these notes.

hes like. so sneaky abt it. he only does it when he doesnt hear anyone coming, and hes quick--sometimes pressing them onto the door as he's passing by. they're always little compliments or words of encouragement. to have a nice day, to eat well, to make sure you get enough rest, that you looked nice today, etc.

you probs just catch him by happenstance, and he's just... standing there, frozen for a moment before he crumples the note and bolts with an apology to you for being in the way. you call after him, he stops bc he knows he's caught, and you ask if he's the one who's been sending all the notes. he confesses that he is, and you ask if he likes you Like That. he just kinda nods so u just ask him out since its clearly not something hes fully confident in doing (bc he didnt know his feelings were being reciprocated) and its just. cute lil moment of the two of you making a date and you writing ur number across the back of his hand.

(he still keeps up the notes thing afterward because he likes leaving lil surprises for you like that, plus its a subtle way for him to say how much he likes you... and he's red when he realizes you've saved every single one of those notes)

i'm thinking college au! isa mentioned the idea of you and jeongwoo being lab partners that kinda just got stuck together (he was the last person in, you didn't have a partner already) and honestly i think its a cute idea (ty again isa!!). the two of you meet up sometimes to work on labs afterward for gen chem and jeongwoo just kinda accidentally starts crushing on you?

haruto lives in the dorm next to your own, and the two of you just kind of meet by happenstance. the laundry room in his dorm gets fucked, so its arranged that people from his dorm can come into yours to do laundry (which is hell btw, happened to me freshman year--felt like we never had access to our own washers/dryers until things got fixed) since he decided to just kinda hide out and work on homework rather than go back to his own room and have to be let back into the building again. he's just there to ask if you've got dryer sheets (you literally run out giving him some, but its not a big deal--static in laundry sucks), then swears he recognizes you from a class (he doesn't), and the two of you end up just... talking a lot more. he gets your number bc he promised to buy you a new pack to be nice, and then the two of you end up becoming friends over games together.

(you have no idea that jeongwoo and haruto are friends until you come over for games one weekend and jeongwoo is already there. he lives right down the hall and they kinda clicked well. you also have no idea that 1. jeongwoo told haruto he thinks you're cute and 2. haruto had to bite his tongue in admitting he also likes you.)

i think the main thing would just be them trying to maintain a good friendship while both kind of pining after you when it finally comes out that both of them like you. if you really want heartbreak, i think it'd come from one of them confessing to you, you reciprocating, but kind of losing the other in the process (happy ending would have him come back--he just needed a little time to process his feelings and be a good friend for the two of you).

hmm... my thoughts are "openly affectionate doyoung" who's maybe your best friend and "soft, kinda clumsy junghwan who has a crush on you so soft + clumsy gets Worse around you" ? where it's obvious that both of them are crushing on you (doyoung for a long time, junghwan more recently) but ur just kinda painfully oblivious to all of it. other ppl see them kind of competing for ur attention and roll their eyes while ur just like haha no need to be aggressive i'm right here :) <3

idk might have a scene of doyoung being forward in saying tht he was your best friend first, not outwardly admitting that he likes you waaay more than that yet, but that he's not going to let junghwan steal tht title from him. its not rly an aggressive "stay away from them >:(" thing as much as it is "i've been in their life longer, i know them better, don't pretend you know them as well as i do" if tht makes sense. reader finding out would result in them getting a lil pissed bc junghwan is just a sweetie and maybe canceling plans w dobby to hang out w him instead bc he doesn't dictate who they're friends with/close to.

imo i'd probs end it with reader ending up w doyoung after some more talks and realizing tht they like him like tht. maybe doyoung realizing he overstepped and panics thinking he lost u, before confessing to your face he likes you Like That and maybe got too aggressive w junghwan as a result. idk maybe a ramble-y confession too mentioning he understands you don't feel the same but tht he doesn't want to lose your friendship etc etc

alternatively its reader ending up w someone else entirely. a secret third option if u will.

so ur doing ur vet internship for a month at this place in order to get some hands-on experience. by coincidence, junkyu is bringing aengdu in to get her rabies shot bc she's due for it, and he immediately kinda starts crushing bc oh no? ur cute? also the first time he saw you, you were bringing someone's dog back to them and you gave the pup a treat and it was rly cute :( u care so much like he's :(( ur so cute :(( someone help him

the next day, he comes back with ruby. you bring him back into the examination room to do her routine exam, casually asking him questions without noticing how flustered he's getting. the vet supervising you Knows that hes crushing and its glaringly obvious because of how he kinda tries to talk to u a bit more, asking how u got into this and why u chose to become a vet etc etc

he goes to ask for your number bc he doesnt want to waste too much of ur time + his money on vet visits, but you go to help another person bring their pet back and he loses the chance. he stands around for a moment in hopes of maybe asking someone to pass his number onto you, but then the guy behind the desk is like :/ are you done and hes like YEP BYE and leaves. he looks at ruby in her carrier and is like. im a coward.

two days later he comes back with aengdu again and he's thankful that ur the one whos there again. the vet with u is still like. oh my god just ask them out instead of wasting time and money Please. you ask if this is the first time he's owned cats and junkyu says yes and lies and says he adopted them from a friend so hes just kinda nervous. when you walk him back out, you give him your number in case he ever has any questions so that he doesn't have to keep coming back up here.

(and then he texts you and you admit you lied because you thought he was cute and ask if hes free. the cheer he lets out scares both aengdu and ruby off of his bed. he later confesses to you that they're his family's cats, he's just home right now so he brought them to the vet, and you just kinda tease him over not giving you his number sooner)
