#i think ive done well over 30 projects since I started felting in ernest last year #jesus yeah I just checked and my first project Dooth was done in January #maaaaaaan my growth within a year of felting #i honestly have to attribute most of it to being medicated #like i can actually focus on HOBBIES now. that didnt happen when I first tried felting before i was diagnosed #anyway DOLL PICS SOON. #wordhardy

40 gauge spiral needle ! Spiral needles are the best for making smooth surfaces, so I'd highly recommend getting your hands on a few. Smaller gauge needles leave less noticeable holes tho(especially when you felt FIRM), so you can always just use a small/extra small triangle. You can also manually smooth out needle pocks by gently rolling or rubbing the surface with your fingers, but I'd only do that with firm pieces bc it can deform your work.

For Fred I got my (core wool) base down with a medium triangle needle, then I did the bulk of my sculpting+ detailing(in tops/merino wool) with the 38 and 40 spiral.
