Do you feel that both RWBY Fans and the RWDE community both overreact to small details or statements?
Yes, though I do not like to play centrist about the issue lately
Toxic parts of the more defensive parts of the community 100% exist and we should be sure to be careful, people like HLRT or canonseeker should have received more scrutiny long before recent controversies came up. We need to have critical thinking and avoid reposting things from people like that
To me, the issue is that the RWDE holds vastly more influence over things, maybe they are still relatively small in terms of the show's vaster audience, but in terms of online communities they still hold a vast amount of power, the one thing I do dislike and firmly disagree with in regards to recent callouts for the toxic parts of the FNDM, is statements like 'The so called hatedom' and such, or insisting that its best people stop engaging or referring to any 'Hatedom' at all and that engaging with the few groups gives them a platform...The truth is, I do not think that is how this works at all. the 'Critical' side of the community has loads upon loads of Videos across YouTube promoting there shit takes and they influence the Popular narratives on the series, Hbomber is a very popular youtuber and has many viewers who have not seen RWBY. Acting like these are just a handful of trolls who shall be harmless if people ignored them is...Flawed, really. People have been driven away from the show by the stream of things from these video's, and look at things like the mess the Art contest became after Hero Hei got involved in it?
I should clarify, anon, I do not think you were trying to push any centrist narrative with this, its just in regards to both the RWDE and the FNDM overreacting to things and having toxicity. I agree and there are 100% conversations we need to have with the defender parts of the FNDM...But, I also do not want to play both sides here, I think the Community needs a ground up overhaul with all the 'Critical' things.
