New Post Airtel Lured Customers with Airtel Thanks and Later Revoked Popular Streaming Services Access has been published on https://www.reviewcenter.in/10205/airtel-lured-customers-later-revoked-streaming-services-access/
Airtel Lured Customers with Airtel Thanks and Later Revoked Popular Streaming Services Access
Tumblr media
Airtel, the 2nd biggest network in India, which is unfortunate for such a good network company, built good networks, spent heavily on advertisements, and yet are losing customers to JIO most on a daily basis, followed by Vodafone-Idea. But what could be the reason for that? First thing, not investing much on the existing network set up to make it better and running after newer things which have almost no reach nor the requirement. Rather than working on improving the 4G coverage, they are advertising heavily on gimmicks, which they ultimately fail to deliver. JIO network coverage is like okay, it works anywhere I go, it’s not if A+, it’s not even a deal-breaker. Even Airtel network fails to reach my bedroom; hence I moved to JIO a few months back after waiting for at least six months with Airtel, in the hope that they might fix the network coverage issues. But nopes, they didn’t.
Another biggest issue is making false promises to customers. Airtel first lures customers by promising, for example, bundled OTT services and later on revoking them without giving any explanation to the customer. The most prominent example of such blunder done recently by Airtel is revoking the access of the OTT platforms for the Airtel Thanks users. Already these customers are paying a premium amount monthly for which they were promised by Airtel with the access of the OTT platforms, but recently Airtel silently removed them from Airtel Thanks benefits.
Tumblr media
Airtel didn’t even bother to update the Airtel Thanks app description or still keeping this false text (shown above) intentionally to get more downloads on the play store. There used to be Netflix 3 months’ access too a year back, which was quite popular at that time, and later Airtel stopped that as well.
Tumblr media
Read the FAQs on Airtel Thanks official FAQ page – This point 12 is not valid anymore.
Airtel here fails to understand that consumer is smart; the reaction to such false practices is hurting Airtel in the longer run. Promising platinum customers recently that they’ll have access to a faster network and better coverage is like putting a nail on a coffin thing because those platinum customers regularly complain on Twitter that they didn’t saw any improvement at all for network coverage or even better speeds.
No wonder such things have costed Airtel in losing subscribers literally in Millions to JIO and Vodafone-Idea. Many Airtel customers often claim that Airtel is costlier than most other carriers because of better service and speeds. But Jio is now expanding at a much faster pace, and in many parts of the nation, Jio actually provided better speeds.
Let’s compare the OTT plans provided by the major telecom network nowadays. And here, even BSNL understands the importance of bundling OTT services in their plan. Even though at present, BSNL provides only Amazon Prime, carriers like Vodafone-Idea and Jio offer Disney+Hotstar, Zee5, along with their proprietary streaming services that let customers watch live TV as well as movies.
Tumblr media
Vodafone, with its RedX Plan worth ₹1099, provides a one-year subscription to Netflix (₹499 Plan), Amazon Prime & Zee5. Now, in that plan, Vodafone users get unlimited data and calling within India. There are many other benefits, as well.
Tumblr media
In contrast, Airtel, with its plan worth ₹999, provided just 150GB data per month and unlimited calling within India. Also, in terms of bundled OTT services, there is only Amazon Prime and Airtel XStream.

In terms of broadband, Jio Fiber provides a plethora of services, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Display+Hotstar, ZEE5 as well as SonyLIV & more. Now, here also, due to the abundance of regional content on such streaming services and the ability to log in using one ID, JIO Fiber is more user friendly and offers great value for money. If we look at the overall offerings, Jio Fiber seems to be more balanced for most users.

It is quite evident that withdrawing freebies and cutting down OTT services subscriptions will not benefit Airtel at all, but in the longer run, it will hurt its user base for sure. Airtel needs to understand the importance of bundling multiple OTT services in their plans. They need to bring back their old plans, which they initially offered to the consumers.
The content streaming choices we have in India are in abundant. The biggest ones include Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+Hotstar, ZEE5, and SonyLIV. Now imagine I want access to all, even if I may not have the time to watch from all, but it all depends on the TV series or movie I want to watch from these services; however, I am also not interested in paying for each service yearly or monthly. This is why the OTT bundling started in the first place. Jio Fiber is the perfect example for a glimpse of what we might see in the future in mobile plans too bundled with OTT services with one common login.
.@airtelindia promised to give free OTT subscription with their Thanks Plan but now they backed out Me right now: pic.twitter.com/cCgScgfv8n
— Sagar (@sagarcasm) August 16, 2020
The above tweet is the perfect example that people notice; they are annoyed with Airtel making decisions like a Nazi. Airtel literally makes things complicated for consumers to understand. They use too many flashy and juicy marketing terms that just offer a sense of premium membership, but in the end, it is all but just a facade. And in this crazy jungle of wildly named plans, apps, and services, users are getting lost and sometimes not even realizing that they already paid for something which has been revoked by Airtel.

Vivo X50 Review - More Than The Specs, Better Than You Expect!
Tumblr media
Vivo recently launched the new Vivo X50 Series of smartphones. There was the Vivo X50 Pro which is a high-end flagship and the Vivo X50 which offers value for money while not skipping the most essential features. The camera is the USP of the all-new Vivo X50 and the phone surely performs on par expectations. The Vivo X50 base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is priced at ₹ 34,990, while the top variant with 8GB RAM & 256GB storage is priced at ₹ 37,990. I got the base variant with 8GB RAM & 128GB storage and I used it for like almost two weeks till now. Here’s my full review of Vivo X50.
Vivo X50 Review – More Than the Specs, Better Than You Expect!
But before we jump into the actual review, here are the quick specs of Vivo X50.
Tumblr media
6.56-inch (2376×1080 pixels) Full HD+ 19.8:9 E3 AMOLED 90Hz HDR10+ (3D curved for X50 Pro) display with 105% NTSC color gamut, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, up to 1300 nit brightness
Octa-Core (2.2GHz Dual + 1.8GHz Hexa) Snapdragon 730 8nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 618 GPU
8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB (UFS 2.1) / 256GB (UFS 2.1) storage
Android 10 with Funtouch OS 10.5
Dual SIM
48MP rear camera with LED flash, f/1.6 aperture, Sony IMX598 sensor, four-axis OIS, 8MP 120° ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture, 13MP portrait bokeh camera (50mm equivalent) with f/2.48 aperture, 5MP 1.5cm super macro with f/2.48 aperture, 2x optical zoom, 20 digital zoom
32MP front-facing camera with f/2.48 aperture
In-display fingerprint sensor
USB Type-C Audio, Hi-Res audio, 3 microphones for audio zoom
Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, NFC, USB Type-C
4200mAh battery with 33W fast charging
The specs of the phone look impressive on paper, but do they really reflect on the performance of the phone in day to day life? Let’s find out.
Built & Design
Vivo X50 has a glass and metal body with glass on both the front and the back with an aluminum side rail. The phone is quite slim with a thickness of just 7.49mm. The corners maintain a subtle uniform curve. The Vivo X50 feels quite premium to hold and it’s not heavy.
Tumblr media
On the front, the Vivo X50 has a 6.56 inch full HD AMOLED panel with 2.5D glass and a punch-hole camera. There’s an in-display fingerprint scanner. On the back, at the top left corner, there is the rectangular camera module that blends well with the overall footprint of the phone. The camera module houses four camera sensors along with an LED flash. On the right side rail there is the power button and volume rockers while on the left edge, there is the SIM card tray. The bottom of the phone houses the USB-C port for charging and data transfer, which is also used for connecting audio devices as there is no headphone jack. Along with the USB-C port, there is the speaker grille.
Display
As mentioned earlier, the Vivo X50 has a 6.56 inch full HD AMOLED panel with 2.5D glass. The display offers a resolution of 1080×2376. The screen-to-body ratio is impressive with 92.8% as there are very slim bezels around the display. The display offers DCI-P3 Color Gamut & HDR10 producing rich & accurate color and a wider dynamic range for video content. The display is bright and vibrant and the sunlight readability is good enough.
Tumblr media
As it’s an AMOLED panel, you can be sure that the display will be consuming less power compared to an IPS LCD panel. The display has a refresh rate of 90Hz so that everything feels very smooth and I particularly enjoyed scrolling through Reddit and Twitter on this device. The touch response time is 180ms, so it helps in tasks like gaming. There is an in-display fingerprint scanner that is fast and accurate. Overall, I’m quite pleased with the display on the Vivo X50 with a high refresh rate.
Performance
On paper, the Vivo X50 specs don’t impress everyone, but everyone forgets that this phone is more focussed on photography. However, in real life, the performance is quite good for everyone. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 730G chipset coupled with 8GB of RAM. I used the phone mostly for tasks like browsing the web and social media, emails, streaming music, and video content, and some gaming. During regular tasks, there are no noticeable lags.
Multitasking works like a charm and there are no issues while switching between the already opened apps in the background. The RAM management is quite good with no aggressive behavior killing idle apps in the background. I also played games like PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, 8 Ball Pool & Clash Royale. While you can easily get the best kind of performance in games like Clash Royale and 8 Ball Pool, in heavy games like PUBG Mobile or Call of Duty Mobile as well the gameplay experience was satisfactory. During heavy gaming sessions, the phone heats up just a little bit but the temperature range is within the comfort zone.
Camera
Vivo X50 is a camera-centric phone and I was already expecting a lot. Gladly the phone didn’t disappoint me at all. However, Vivo has made quite a different kind of lenses for its X50. There is a primary Sony IMX598 48-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.6 aperture. The primary sensor has got Optical Image Stabilization. Along with that, there are three more lenses- an 8-megapixel 120° ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture, a 13-megapixel portrait lens with f/2.48 aperture and a 5-megapixel 1.5cm super macro with f/2.48 aperture. The Vivo X50 offers a 2x optical zoom and up to 20x digital zoom.
Tumblr media
The main camera captures sharp impressive shots in broad daylight. The colors are punchy, saturation levels, and the dynamic range is good. Even in low lighting conditions, the main camera with f/1.6 aperture managed to click some good pictures. The 8-megapixel wide-angle camera captures decent shots. There is a dedicated depth sensor and with it, I experimented a bit and tried to take some shots while the lens is covered and even without that bokeh lens the phone managed to pull off some nicely composed portraits. The macro lens works fine, but it could be a lot better if Vivo could add at least an 8-megapixel lens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In terms of video, the phone is capable of recording videos at up to 4K at 30 fps and the output is awesome I would say. The combination of OIS and EIS makes it possible for anyone to record videos while holding the phone and walking, without degrading the video quality.
The Vivo X50 offers quite a few camera modes including extreme night vision for super low light photos. This mode helps a lot while taking shots under very low light. There are also a few night filters to enhance photos. There is also a Pro Sports Mode, assisted by Motion Auto Focus which offers quick exposure and shutter speed for taking shots of moving objects for some amazing shots. It’s quite hard to explain everything in writing so here are some camera samples for you. Look and judge yourself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In terms of selfies, the Vivo X50 comes with a single 32-megapixel punch-hole camera with f/2.48 aperture. The selfie shooter clicks some nice sharp shots with a good amount of detail and the camera also works well in dim environments, making it a good contender against many other phones which offer a good rear camera setup but suck in terms of selfies.
Software
Vivo X50 runs Android 10 out of the box with Vivo’s own FunTouch OS 10 skin on top. FunTouch OS 10 is a blend of the old and new, as it retains some of the old, most-loved features while bringing a new fresh look and improving the user experience. The FunTouch OS 10 is much improved and packed with features.
The new FunTouch OS 10 brings performance improvements, quick sharing features, new system dynamics, and minimalistic design. The Vivo X50 also brings DocVault which uses the Government of India’s Digilocker platform as an authorized partner. It’s very useful for easily managing documents on the go.
There is the system-wide dark mode which reduces strain on the eyes and as Vivo X50 comes with an AMOLED display, the dark mode would also help save power. There is also the new Desktop Mode where the phone would switch to a desktop mode when you connect your phone to an external monitor. Along with these, there are other features like easier file sharing, new privacy-focused settings, multitasking via floating windows, and much more. The UI has improved a lot when we look back and the overall experience with the FunTouch OS on Vivo X50 has been really good.
Battery
The Vivo X50 packs a 4200mAh battery which seems to be quite good. The phone saves quite a bit of power if you use dark mode. However, if you normally use the phone without the dark mode, then also, you can get a full day usage easily and may need to plug it in by the end of the phone. I mostly charge my phone overnight but when I forgot to plug it in once, then also, by the time I wake up and leave home, I could easily get the phone charged up to 78% thanks to the ultra-fast 33W charging.
Final Verdict
Vivo X50 is a phone that you can rely on for video creation. The camera on the phone is really good, the device feels premium and due to the design, the phone quite reminds of Huawei. A high refresh rate AMOLED panel, solid battery, and stable performance, along with superfast 33W charging make the Vivo X50 phone quite a complete package for most users.
Pros
Premium build & design
Great photo & video capturing capabilities
90Hz AMOLED display
Cons
Single Bottom firing speaker

New Post Acculi Labs & Vivo Jointly Develop Early COVID-19 Detection App has been published on https://www.reviewcenter.in/10165/acculi-labs-vivo-jointly-develop-early-covid-19-detection-app/
Acculi Labs & Vivo Jointly Develop Early COVID-19 Detection App
As COVID-19 cases surge in India, the Government and health authorities are trying their best to detect those with symptoms through various methods. Faster detection of COVID-19 symptoms and the rapid isolation of infected people can potentially play a major role in halting the outbreak.
To capture an individual’s vital health statistics through mobile phone, Bengaluru-based IT start-up Acculi labs has developed an application called Lyfas in partnership with Vivo.
Talking about the app, Rupam Das, Founder, CEO of Acculi Labs said, “At a time when the entire world is struggling to combat this pandemic, our endeavor was to come up with an app that helps detect asymptomatic COVID positive individual as well as assess the possibilities of these individuals becoming symptomatic in future. We are thankful to Vivo India for providing us with their smartphones – Vivo Y11 and Y91, during our pilot phase, which helped us develop this app. We got the best test results with Vivo Y-series phones, particularly because of superior camera quality and camera position.”
Vivo supported Acculi Labs in successfully testing the newly developed application by using Vivo Y-series smartphones. The app uses the power of Vivo smartphone processors and sensors to capture a bunch of body signals. Then the app analyzes the data to find out the intensity of Covid-19.
Talking about this partnership, Nipun Marya, Director-Brand Strategy, Vivo India said, “COVID-19 has pushed the boundaries of technological innovation across the globe. As a part of our Heroes Who Care initiative, we have continuously supported healthcare professionals working to fight the pandemic. Extending the same program, we are proud to have partnered with Acculi labs who have made this significant breakthrough. We look forward to the effective deployment of this solution in the upcoming times and hope that this will contribute significantly to contain potential Covid-19 cases in the future.”
The app creates an individual’s COVID-19 risk assessment profile called Lyfas COVID score. This is quite different from what Aarogya Setu does. Aarogya Setu uses contract tracing and it determines the risk by analyzing answers to the predefined questions provided by a user. Whereas using Lyfas one would keep his index finger on the rear camera of a mobile phone for 5 minutes when the app will capture the capillary pulse and blood volume change and derive 95 biomarkers with proprietary algorithms and signal processing techniques.
This app will help users be aware of any possibilities of getting infected and hence will play a major role in containing the pandemic at a large scale.

New Post India Consumers Shifting to Bundled Services Than Paying for Every Streaming Services. Here’s the Reason! has been published on https://www.reviewcenter.in/10145/india-consumers-shifting-to-bundled-services-for-streaming-services/
India Consumers Shifting to Bundled Services Than Paying for Every Streaming Services. Here’s the Reason!
Tumblr media
While the Indian telecom companies had a tough time in the fight of AGR dues, it still never stopped them in offering some lucrative plans to the consumers of the OTT media services. While paying for every streaming service is a hassle every month for the consumers, it’s not at all cost-saving too until now when the telecom companies started bundling these services in their plans. As per a survey, 56% of Indian digital consumers are already subscribed to more than one paid online streaming service. Hence it makes more sense for them to go to these bundled plans rather than paying for each service individually.
Most telecom operators like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and even BSNL are bundling subscriptions to popular streaming services with their plans for both mobile and broadband users. This is a smart move, and it creates a win-win situation for both the telecom companies and the consumers as telecom companies can make their consumers spend more, and the consumers get better value for money.
Even the consumers, if they get the bundled services from their preferred providers are less likely to change to others, even if it may cost them a little more. For them its more about the experience, less hassle in billing, quick resolution of issues and for some its more of the availability of the provider in their area, because of which Airtel gets an edge here as it has the maximum reach all over India while Reliance Jio Fibre is yet to reach deep India.
Tumblr media
There are different kinds of offerings from various telecom service providers and ISPs. While some of them offer only one streaming service like Amazon Prime, others provide two or three like Zee 5, HOOQ, and Amazon Prime. Now, let’s have a look at the different offerings from different service providers.
In terms of mobile plans, most service providers now provide quite long terms plans like for 84 days or 12 weeks. Some offer plans for almost six months or even a year. There are prepaid plans for that. Apart from that, there are postpaid plans which are suitable for users who need to make a lot of calls, need a lot of data, and also want the OTT subscriptions. Here’s a comparison of different plans from Jio, Airtel & Vodafone Idea.
Service ProviderPrice in INR Plan ValidityData OfferedServices BundledJio (Prepaid)40128 Days90 GBDisney+Hotstar, Jio TV, Jio CinemaAirtel (Prepaid)4011 Month3GBDisney+HotstarAirtel (Postpaid)4991 Month75 GBAmazon Prime, Zee 5, Airtel Xstream, HOOQ, Eros NowVodafone (Postpaid)4991 Month75 GBAmazon Prime, Zee 5, Vodafone PlayJio (Prepaid)59984 Days168 GBJio TV, Jio CinemaAirtel (Postpaid)7491 Month125 GBAmazon Prime, Zee 5, Airtel Xstream, HOOQ, Eros NowVodafone (Postpaid)749 1 Month 120 GBAmazon Prime, Zee 5, Vodafone PlayAirtel (Postpaid)9991 Month150GBAmazon Prime, Zee 5, Airtel Xstream, HOOQ, Eros Now
Airtel Xstream includes 350+ Live Channels, Zee5, Hungama, Eros Now, Hoichoi, ShareIt, Shemaroome, Ultra and Curiosity Stream, and 7 days catch up on Live TV.
Vodafone Play includes 150+ Live Channels, Zee5, SonyLIV, Lionsgate Play, Shemaroome, Hoichoi, Sun NXT, Hungama, Discovery, and Yupp TV.
JioTV includes 575+ Live TV Channels and 7 days catch up on Live TV.
These are some of the plans from Airtel, Jio & Vodafone Idea that you can consider. Most of the postpaid plans offer better benefits compared to prepaid plans. However, you should consider the amount of data, calls as well while making a choice along with the preference of content because not everyone may not watch content from all OTT platforms.
Tumblr media
The Airtel Postpaid plan worth ₹499 seems to be an excellent choice for most customers as it offers 75 GB data, unlimited calls and 100 SMS/day, and along with that, you get Amazon Prime and Zee 5 for a year, along with access to HOOQ, Eros Now & more as a part of Airtel Thanks Rewards. Also, the main reason why this plan is somewhat popular is that Amazon Prime, Zee5, Hungama & Eros Now offers the best blend of both Indian and foreign content.
Now, in terms of broadband, the players are fewer as Vodafone Idea isn’t there in the game. However, there is BSNL, which also provides free streaming service access to its customers. Let’s have a look at the plans and offerings by these ISPs.
Service Provider Price in INRData OfferedSpeedServices BundledJio Fiber849600GB100 MbpsDisney+Hotstar, Zee5, SonyLIV, Voot, Alt Balaji, HoiChoi, Jio Cinema, Jio SaavnAirtel999300GB200 MbpsAmazon Prime, Zee 5, HOOQ, Eros Now, Hungama, Airtel XStream
BSNL also provides Amazon Prime to its customers for free if they opt for any Broadband or Bharat Fibre plans worth ₹675 or above. Now in terms of data and OTT subscriptions, Jio is a strong competitor here because of the amount of data it offers (600GB) as well as the subscriptions to a few extra OTT services like Hotstar & Alt Balaji.
Airtel, while it offers 300GB data per month, it provides double the speed when compared to Jio. Airtel Xstream Box is quite a feature-rich gadget as it has a library of 5000+ apps, 500+ TV Channels, built-in Chromecast, Google Assistant, and runs on Android. Upon paying an additional Rs 299 a month, Airtel removes the data usage limit and makes it unlimited.
Making a comparison and saying which plan among both is better is tough as while one offers more data, the other is better on the overall experience. Airtel has been kind of in a better position as a broadband provider while JIO is catching up too. You most probably find the after-sales services of Airtel better in case of any issue. If you have both providers in your area, it’s a good idea to compare the Jio Box and Airtel Xstream Box, too, for which box you’ll prefer more features wise.
I personally don’t like Jio Fiber much because of the privacy issues I learned about it in the past. I am not sure how’s the situation now of that, as so far I know is Jio Fiber blocks the VPN & proxies usage, which is not acceptable for me.
Conclusion
In terms of choosing the telecom service and broadband service provider, people these days don’t just look at the speeds, and the amount of data promised, but they want to get everything under one umbrella, and that’s why this trend of buying bundled services has taken off and is being quite successful in India. The boom of the streaming services can be linked with the adoption of 4G at a rapid pace with reduced prices. Jio started the game by offering 4G at dirt cheap prices while offering Jio TV and Jio Cinema for free, and now, most telecom service providers have followed suit in the same or better way like Airtel Xstream is quiet an excellent example for that.
Since, the broadband adoption has taken a jump since the COVID-19 & work-from-home era started, and so does the media consumption rate, it makes more sense than ever to go for such bundled services than paying the same amount only for the broadband. Why pay only for broadband or mobile network now when there are plans bundled with OTT services too for almost no extra cost!

New Post Is This The Time to Get a Dishwasher? has been published on https://www.reviewcenter.in/10126/is-this-the-time-to-get-a-dishwasher/
Is This The Time to Get a Dishwasher?
Since lockdown started, many people have actually developed an interest in cooking. I have been watching a lot more people uploading their photos of some awesome dishes they cooked. But, at the same time, it’s getting quite stressful for many to wash dishes.
As per Amazon, when relaxation was provided for e-commerce, the orders for dishwashers skyrocketed with 23 times higher search volume for dishwashers compared to any normal day.
While many people are searching for dishwashers, many are confused about whether they should go for it or not. This is due to some myths which claim that dishwashers are not suited for Indian cooking and lifestyles. So, here, we are busting a few of those myths to help you.
Dishwashers are expensive: When calculating over a period of 24 months, a dishwasher can cost you just ₹1300 per month.
Many Indian utensils cannot be cleaned in dishwashers: This is probably the most common myth. Well, nowadays, dishwashers are designed as per Indian utensils shapes and sizes and can hold them easily. There are some dishwashers that are customized for the Indian kitchen. These offer powerful sprays of hot water pressure to remove oil stains and a bit of curry dried on the surface.
Dishwashers consume more water & electricity when compared to washing by hand: Energy as energy, be it in any form. Washing dishwashers by hand also requires energy and well, in terms of water usage, dishwashers use half the amount of water actually. Dishwashers use up to 9 to 25 liters, whereas washing dishes by hand can use up to 50-60 liters of water.
These were the three major myths associated with getting a dishwasher. The main point here is that day by day, electronics are being customized as per the needs of the consumers. We have seen how microwave ovens have evolved and right now is a must in most modern households. Just like that dishwashers are also being customized to suit the Indian kitchens. On Amazon India, you can see a lot of offers and deals in dishwashers, that too from popular brands like Voltas Beko, IFB, BPL, and more. Customers can also discover and shop conveniently with scheduled delivery, no-cost EMI options, easy installation, and more. Citibank Card users can also get an additional 10% instant discount up to ₹ 1,500 till June 8.

New Post Meizu 17 & Meizu 17 Pro Launched - Check Specs & Price has been published on https://www.reviewcenter.in/10118/meizu-17-meizu-17-pro-launched/
Meizu 17 & Meizu 17 Pro Launched - Check Specs & Price
Tumblr media
Meizu seems to have jumped back into the flagship smartphone race once again. The company today launched the new Meizu 17 Series of smartphones- Meizu 17 & Meizu 17 Pro. The Meizu 17 Series coincides with the company’s 17 years of business. Also, Meizu 17 Series phones are 5G enabled and have top-notch hardware, putting the phones directly in competition with a few other 5G flagships.
Meizu has a history of designing its phones symmetrically and the Meizu 17 series is no different. That’s why the camera sensors are placed horizontally on the back of the phones and the weight distribution is even at the top and bottom.
Both the Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro come with a huge 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display panels made by Samsung. The company claims that Samsung has tuned the panel as per the needs of Meizu. There are thin bezels around the display and the bezels at the top and bottom are symmetrical, measuring just 3.3mm. The screen-to-body ratio is also quite great at 92.9%. There is a tiny punch-hole camera at the top right corner of the display measuring just 2.99 mm. The Meizu 17 offers a refresh rate of 90Hz, whereas the Meizu 17 Pro has a refresh rate of 120Hz, which is the highest right now in the industry. The display is HDR 10 certified as well.
Tumblr media
In terms of hardware, both the phones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB UDF3.1 super-fast flash storage. The Meizu 17 Pro also uses LPDDR5 RAM, offering a 20% performance boost over the last generation.
In terms of camera, the Meizu 17 & Meizu 17 Pro are a bit different. The Meizu 17 comes with a 64-megapixel primary camera. Along with that, there are three other lenses- a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 5-megapixel macro camera. The camera configuration is a bit different as the Meizu 17 Pro model comes with an 8-megapixel telephoto lens and a 32-megapixel ultrawide lens 129॰ field of vision. The primary camera on the Meizu 17 Pro is the same as that of Meizu 17. But, there is also a 3D ToF sensor for stunning bokeh and AR.
Tumblr media
Both the phones run Android 10 out of the box with Meizu’s own Flyme 8.1 skin on top. The connectivity options, apart from 5G are pretty normal and there is no NFC. Both the phone pack a 4500mAh battery with fast charging at 30W (5V/3A or 10V/3A or 20V/1.8A), but sadly we don’t have got wireless charging. The Meizu 17 Pro comes in a ceramic body for added premium texture and so, there is no wireless charging for either of the devices.
In China, these two phones are already available at retail stores. The Meizu 17 starts at $ 522 for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, whereas the variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at $ 564. The Meizu 17 Pro starts at $ 606 for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, whereas the top variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at $663.
