Wyatt: You get hostile.
Hunter: I don't get hostile! I don't get RANDOMLY hostile! I get hostile when hostility is called for!

Passersby gave Wyatt strange looks as he more or less straddled the thief, using his knees to pin down the manâs arms. He nodded at Jenny as she grabbed her purse before slowly shifting his weight from the manâs back. âHope you learned your damn lesson, kid,â he said, chastising the stranger as he got up.
Jennyâs next comment caught Wyatt slightly off-guard and he furrowed his brow momentarily before realizing that this was more than likely the blondeâs attempt at a compliment. âThank you?â he questioned, a nervous chuckle escaping his lips as he turned his attention back to her. âYou alright? That was pretty risky of him, snatching your bag like that just before the doors were supposed to close and all...â
One second Jenny was chasing after the thief - quite unsuccessfully - and the next, he was on the ground with the Upper East Sideâs favorite cowboy on his back as if her were a bull in the rodeo. Gossip Girlâs favorite topic as of late, committing an act of chivalry in the busy New York streets, most people passing stepping over them with an annoyed huff as they rushed along to wherever they needed to be.
Jenny looked between Wyatt and the purse thief on the ground and felt almost pity for the guy. She walked up to them and bent down, grabbing the purse from the thief before shaking her head. âNot this time,â she decided. Not only did her family not have the money to deal with lawyers for anything that wasnât absolutely necessary, but she had once been caught red handed, stealing from her own friends, and they had let her off. âConsider it me paying it forward,â she said, standing once again, brushing off her bag, looking at the scratches from it hitting the concrete with distaste. âThank you,â she added, looking to Wyatt. âMaybe Gossip Girl was wrong and youâre not just some playboy hick.â

âI suppose it did,â he replied, mirroring her smile in a half-hearted attempt to disguise his still-reeling mind. âYeah! Yeah, absolutely, letâs go.â Without wasting another moment, Wyatt turned on his heels to face the same direction as Kati and began walking back the way he had come just a few minutes earlier.Â
âAnd that one second brought you to me and Princeton,â Kati said with a grin on her face. She had never tried exploring the city she lived in so she would have been lost as well. But Kati wasnât a runner and she never would be. She liked to stay on the easy streets, the one she was familiar with and had committed to memory. âWell, since youâre lost, wanna get a coffee?â

It was pretty much standard practice for anyone living in Manhattan to put starting a family on hold in order to pursue their dreams; not that there was anything wrong with it. Wyatt, however, was one of very few people whose dream was to settle down. âHow long do people usually dance?â he asked, unsure of whether or not ballet dancers - like other athletes - tended to retire early. âYouâre right. And with the return of the gossip blog, I think itâd be in all our best interests to stay positive.â
âQUITE POSSIBLY,â ophelia nodded. of course she had thought of the possibilities of her future. a ballet career doesnât last very long â she knew this â but she had no idea what was to come after. start a family?? adopt children?? raise them in the upper east side or run far away from here?? âi think if i were ever to settle down and start a family, it would be after my  g l o r y  d a y s  end. you know, when i put up the ballet shoes and all.â it was almost hard to admit, that she would always put her passion before the idea of  s e t t l i n g  down. âadrian is a very sweet man. i think itâs always nice to surround yourself with nice people. it always improves your happiness rate.â

Heels clicking up each step of the subway exit, Jenny was sure to avoid touching the railing, sure that it was just pooling with germs. âJust a few more weeks until youâre back in your dorm and donât have to commute from Brooklyn every day,â she muttered to herself, taking the final step up and out of the recessed passage to the trains.
Taking the briefest of seconds to recompose herself and to have the air of belonging, Jenny took a breath and then turned on her heel to head in the direction of the Mirage. It had been far too long since she had made a public appearance, and one of the premier night clubs on the Upper East Side felt like the perfect way to do it. But before she could take another step, she felt a breeze and a tug on her arm. She stumbled back, trying to avoid crashing to the ground as some man ran off, her bag clutched tightly in his fist.
âOh my god!â she shouted, taking a step in the direction heâd gone in, but she knew in her heels it would be of no use, âDid you see that?â she asked, her voice full of panic, âDonât just stand there! Go after him,â she said, before heading in that direction as quickly as she could without breaking an ankle.
Unless he was driving someone, Wyatt tended to leave his car at home and instead opt for the train system. It was not common that the man ran into anyone he knew - the cars were always packed - but today seemed to be an exception. He recognized the blonde and while he had not planned to say anything to her, suddenly found himself darting outside the car just before the doors began to close as a man ran off with the womanâs purse.Â
Heart and feet pounding equally as hard as one another, Wyatt gave chase to the thief, closing the gap in mere seconds as he brought the other man to the ground. âYou pressing charges?â he called behind him, pinning the man to the ground as he awaited Jennyâs arrival.

Taking a moment to survey his surroundings, Wyatt turned back to Kati looking more visibly confident. âI just got turned around for a second,â he said with a soft chuckle. âI went a lot farther than I was planning on going.â The distance Wyatt had unknowingly run proved how preoccupied his mind had been with thoughts of Emma as well as just how distracted those thoughts had made him.
Though the dog probably didnât care if he was called handsome or a cutie, Kati continued to smile as she waited for Wyatt to finish scratching her dogâs head. âHe appreciates the apology,â she teased. Upon hearing that Wyatt wasnât exactly sure where he was, she wanted to laugh, but was able to hold it back and suppress it to only slip bit with a peak of a smirk. âWhat are you? A tourist? How do you not know where you are?â

âNot unless you decided to go back to civilization at some point,â he argued, teasingly. âThen your reputation would precede you and theyâd have all kinds of shit to say.â
Harper was just about as anti-social as you could get in Manhattan, but even she knew that cutting oneself off completely was near-impossible. Survival would be very difficult for anybody, but the lifestyle change would be even crazier for an Upper East Sider. âYes, and I think Gossip Girl would have a field day if one of us went off into the woods and became a survivalist or something. Though, I suppose, that wouldnât matter anymore.â

âNo, not at all,â he huffed. That was him, all the time, and he found himself smiling at the familiarity â even if Wyatt meant just the bar and Carter meant New York. âBartending must get pretty interesting, hearing everybodyâs drunk ramblings by the end of the night.â Many times, Carter had lingered near the bars all the way until closing, and he swore the stories got crazier and crazier as the night went on.
âWherever. Iâd buy the first round but ⌠you probably drink for free?â
âI only do it when I know my friends are drinking. Somebodyâs gotta make sure they ainât overdoinâ it,â he admitted with a light chuckle. He paused for a few seconds, realizing how boring an answer he had provided his companion with.
âYeah. Iâll get us some whiskeys, then.â Wyatt stepped away from his stool, walking along the counter a few feet before stopping in front of the bartender and requesting their drinks before turning around and walking back to Carter.

He was puzzled for a moment by her reply, uncertain how Emma would âunderstandâ why she was being called unkind things by the gossip blog, but continued to listen nonetheless. His confusion was immediately replaced by a look of curiosity at Victoriaâs statement about her and the blonde posing as girlfriends. Taking a moment to process everything, Wyatt straightened up in his seat, eyes still glued to the road ahead. âYeah, but only because I know she reads what they say about her. I think sheâs taking it more to heart than sheâs lettinâ on.â
If Victoria was a brush, New York was her canvas. Every street was a color inspired by sadness, each building a splash of happiness rising around her. And as she stares up at the streetlights whizzing by as Wyatt begins the drive back to to Upper East Side, she thinks of the warm rays of sunshine that covered her in light earlier that day. Theyâd inspired their own form of happiness, in the brunette. But despite her earlier happiness, all she can claim to feel now is confused. Who cared what Gossip Girl said? Why did everyone she know drink down her every word like she was an oasis in a desert of desolation. âShe can make-up whatever she wants. As long as I talk to Emma about it sheâll understand. Hell, Emma has even helped me with that con before so she knows I use it.â Lost in the deep end of her pool of indulgence, Victoria doesnât think about how his words could be construed as belittling, just clicks her seatbelt into place and continues on with her stream of thought. âI mean, that is why you care, right? Because of Emma? Since Iâm fairly certain you wouldnât care if Gossip Girl wrote a blast about us kissing for any other reason.â Maybe sheâs drunk, or maybe sheâs always been so blunt. And maybe sheâs pouring salt into wounds, but she wants to keep things clear.Â

He shakes his head, realizing how bitter his words had tsounded. âNo, no. Sorry, Sutton. Iâve just been a little on edge,â he admits, thoughts of the gossip blog posts still present in his mind. âHowâve you been, sweetheart? I really did miss you.â
It didnât go unnoticed to Sutton that his demeanor had shifted, her hazel orbs eyed him curiously, dancing around his features and staying silent for a few heartbeats too long before finally letting a few words flit out of her lips, âdonât tell me you regret our little romp cowboy, Iâd say its the most fun Iâve ever seen you have.â

Simply being around Ophelia brought a smile to Wyattâs face. He felt warm, his optimism renewed as she validated his every word. Thereâd been flashes of this in his interactions with Colby, but heâd never met someone so waveringly upbeat. âIs that something you see yourself doing?â he asked as he took another sip. âAnd, yeah. Itâs a great place. I lucked out meetinâ Adrian.â
SHE FOCUSED on his answer, her undivided attention on him as she tried to sip her coffee without glancing away from him. this proved to be a  t e r r i b l e  idea once the brim missed her mouth and almost covered her chin and lap in lukewarm coffee. âthat sounds very lovely!! i think it would be absolutely amazing to meet the person of your dreams and to settle down and have a family!!â she smiled, the thought making her cheeks  b l u s h, hopefully it wasnât so obvious in this lighting. âwell your club is very popular!! i been there a couple times and had a few drinks, the atmosphere is wonderful there.â

âItâs what I heard, man. Iâm not gonna pretend Iâm some expert on all things American Idol,â he joked, trying his best to hide a laugh at his friendâs obvious heartbreak. âYou know who I wouldnât be able to share...â he began, a teasing eyebrow raised as he smirked. âWhoâs got you all caught up?â
âWaitâ What? Youâre kidding, right?â Eric said,  worrying that his music during cooking might be taken away from him. âDamn,â he said as he shook his head, the news hitting him hard. âButâ uh, yeah, weâd be unstoppable, that is true. Except one body for the two of us would mean weâd have to share every girl we meet. I donât think we can do that.â

âDonât they say history repeats itself?â He paused, lifting his drink to his lips. âJust do the same thing. No one will be the wiser,â Wyatt suggested after a long sip.
He should have known that the lasted blast about Wyatt and Victoria would not have escaped Noahâs attention. As far as he knew, the two were only brother and sister because blood dictated it. The way Noah described it, Wyatt remembered why he didnât care to think of their familial ties. âWhat do you even mean by that,â he questioned, his face twisted into an an expression of unapologetic disgust. âIâm not fuckinâ your sister and/or Emma if thatâs what youâre getting at.â
âThatâs almost impressive, but exactly, my friend. Itâs a shame she took a hiatus, I participated in plenty of activities worthy of top blast.â Noah replies, seriously envying the online entity for bailing on him when he didnât know he needed the bitch. Yet, sheâs here now and heâs more than ready to milk her for all sheâs worth, with a little brainstorming on his part heâll have her eating out of the palm of his filthy hands.
âOh, and about the girl who shares my blood running through her veins - and I donât mean my mother.â he throws out to Wyatt. âWhat do you expect to achieve from this bonding? I canât imagine her best friend, little Emma darling being to please. Or on second thought, maybe sheâs thrilled. Do shareâŚâ his voice trails off at the end of his sentence, and he picks up his whiskey Wyatt handed to him across the bar and knocks half of it back.

Wyatt snorted at the very idea of turning anti-social. âI canât even imagine going a day without talking to someone some way or another.â
âI could see how that might be problematic,â Harper agreed with a smirk. âItâs certainly a challenge to go cold turkey on people.â
