if you count this deleted scene with Maeve, she says they broke up because "You couldn't keep it in your tights." we also know he was with Maeve when he chose to target Becca. whether or not those two incidences are the same or if there were more, we have no clue. he's not particularly promiscuous on screen.

we also know Homelander's relationship with Maeve was painfully one-sided, so I don't know that it's a great indicator of his loyalty. he was pretty faithful to SF even after she was mangled.

either way, i personally wouldn't write him as a cheater if he were in a reciprocated committed relationship. mainly because i hate infidelity plots and because i think it's so much less interesting than the obsessive destructive all consuming love i assign him.

He’s obsessed with you.  If you only knew…

If you only knew what it did to him to simply see you.  To have you there, bright like sunshine, illuminating his life.  The warmth of your light makes him forget.  The pain falls away, the guilt, the sorrow, the regret– everything that ever hurt.

He wonders if you even mean to be like that.  With every smile, every hug, every glint in your eye that tells him how the whole of your heart belongs to him.

Wasn’t something he ever thought he’d have.  Not from anyone, really.  Too many… bad experiences.  Too many losses.  Heartbreaks and aches.

He’s sworn on everything he’ll keep you safe.  Even from himself.

He catches you doing something so… simple.  He wasn’t supposed to be home, and you?  You thought you were being sneaky.

“Lucas!”  You squeal as he sweeps you off your feet. You've given that stolen name more meaning than it ever should've had.

You’ve always complained that he doesn’t take care of himself.  Not only that, but it’s hard for him to let you take care of him.  He doesn’t know how to accept it.  He’s had to be strong for his entire life and now? He doesn’t know how to let someone else shoulder his burdens.  Not even the stupid, silly things.

And here you were, caught red handed, replacing his old threadbare underwear with new ones.  He kicks through the torn up packaging as he spins you around, arms wrapped tight around your waist as he playfully hauls you away from your sneaky good deed.  

He’s not mad– of course not.  Why would he ever be upset about you taking care of him?

But he does toss you onto the bed and kisses you senseless.

And there it is again.  That urge to all but crawl into your skin and hide away in his home– in you.  The littlest things make him feel this way.  A cooked meal.  The sight of you coming in through the front door.  Waking up beside you.  Hell, even grocery shopping with you…

Every reminder of the life you’ve built, of the world that you two have made not just with each other, but for each other as well.  The peace, the quiet, the love.

All of the little things…

He settles on top of you and gazes down with such warmth in his heart that it feels fit to burst.  He doesn’t even realize that he’s being a little odd, staring without saying a word, until you huff a laugh and press a kiss to the tip of his nose.

He’s all smiles.

He always will be with you.

Please send submissions to my ask box (sending them all to one place makes wrangling them easier each week). In your ask, please include the creator’s handle, a link to their work/post (if links aren’t working for the ask, please DM me them), and what you loved about it!

Please ensure the link is to the creator’s original post and not your own reblog or repost of their work (if they’re on another platform). The idea is to drive people to visit the creator’s page!

The creation does not have to have been posted this week! It can be something older. Also, don’t worry about whether or not a rec is a repeat from a prior week. Just looking to celebrate things that made an impression on you this week, whether you’ve seen it before or not!

NSFW is alright! Just make sure you note it in the ask so I can flag appropriately! Since I’m including 18+ material, minors may not participate. 18+ posts will be tagged with NSFT/lemon/lemony lemon (trying to cover all my bases).

NO incest, underage, cl*necest, master/padawan (or similar power dynamics), dub-con/non-con/rape occurring IN the fic (to include stalker/obsessive behavior fics). Also, no H*rry Potter. There are a few others that I also won’t share due to my discomfort with them (i.e., R*xsoka), so if you’re not sure, ask. Also, many of you submit multiple works at once, and that’s fine, but if one of those works contains something that violates the rules, I will delete the entire ask, so something to be extra careful about when submitting!

Submissions that deal with 18+ material or difficult/triggering topics (pregnancy, abuse, drug use, etc.) MUST BE TAGGED APPROPRIATELY.

If your rec involves spoilers from a show that’s currently running, please include that info in the ask so I can tag it appropriately (I will normally tag a few different ways, but I always use #<show title> spoilers if you need to filter (for example: Andor spoilers will be tagged #Andor Spoilers). I will stop tagging spoilers two weeks after the show stops airing.

You can submit GIF sets or edits, but please ensure you are submitting from the blog that actually created them. Wanted to add that caution since there’s been a lot of people stealing/reposting GIFs and edits in particular recently. So just be cautious.

Try to avoid commentary in your ask that might make others feel bad (“the only person who knows how to write XXX correctly…”). It’s important to be able to appreciate creators without making others feel bad, so let’s try to keep the commentary complimentary without being off-putting for other creators.

Self recommendations are allowed and encouraged! Shout out your own hard work! You deserve the recognition!

i really wanna spend valentine's day with homie..do you think he'd be romantic? how would he wanna spend the day?

Homelander strikes me as an intensely traditional romantic. Everything he knows about romance, he's pulled from movies. That means roses, chocolates, diamond jewelry, candlelit dinners. He wants classic romance.

That means buying out an entire movie theatre for a private showing. It means a romantic cruise for just the two of you. It means dinner on the pier with fairy lights and live music. It means sharing a hot bath full of rose petals. It means flying you across the world for a once in a life-time meal that he thinks nothing of. Does he personally sprinkle a trail of rose petals to a luxurious jacuzzi bath for the two of you to share? No, but he does hire a Vought intern to do it, and that's basically the same, right?

Homelander would be a very intimidating partner to have on Valentine's day because he's all about these huge, sweeping gestures. He needs you to see his love, believe the scope of it. Love has always been a conditional, quantifiable thing to him. He's not well versed in showing it any other way. His life is so ruled by consumerism, by capitalism, by transaction. It would be easy to feel inadequate by comparison when he's pulling out all the stops every single time. But you know what would just wreck him? A card with your love written plain as day. Homemade baked goods with little heart decorations on top. A scarf you knitted that he'll never need, but that he would wear anyways because you made it for him.

Because you were made for him.
