As Yuugi approached, he held out his arms in welcome and returned the embrace, squeezing his love tightly against his chest. The time that had passed since they were separated last was far too long. Longer then they had ever gone from seeing one another and he silently hoped they would never have to go through that again. But he also knew that his schedule as a musician was unpredictable, so he wanted to relish the feeling of Yuugi's body pressed against his for as long as he could, taking in the very scent of him.

"I've missed you too, Habibi~" He replied as he slowly exhaled, "I never want to be apart from you like that again."

When Yuugi abruptly verbalized his disagreement about him needing to get up and get ready to go to work down at the studio, he looked over his shoulder at him and smiled lovingly. How could he say no to that adorable face? He wasn't surprised that Yuugi had done this. Ever since the band had started doing well, they saw less and less of each other. And now with the other's career choice, it seemed like their time together was starting to remind them of how it had been before he was granted life again. And who was he kidding? He hated having to leave Yuugi for any length of time, and he knew the Hikari felt the same.

Without any argument, he laid back down beside him as he wrapped an arm around his love and pulled him close, nuzzling him as he spoke, "I guess Inuyasha and Kagome can do some song writing without me for the day. I feel that I have been neglectful of you lately, Aibou, and for that I am truly sorry." He replied, his voice soft and gentle. "Hopefully spending the day in bed with you will somehow make up for that lost time."

The pouting hikari marched himself up to Atem, planted himself on his lap, threw his arms around the other man's neck and quickly claimed his lips with his own.

I want you and I miss you, Atem!

He all but whined the words through their soul link and pressed himself as close as he could.

Unprompted Ask II Always Accepting

He had been working on a new song that he was going to show to Inuyasha and Kagome later in the week so he hadn't noticed when his Hikari had entered the room nor saw the expression on his face, but when Yuugi plopped himself on his lap and wrapped his arms around his neck, he immediately dropped his pen and shifted in his seat as to make it a little more comfortable for them. But just as he was about to say how cute his love looked with that little pout, Yuugi captured his lips in a passionate kiss and when those desperate words rang through their link, he couldn't help but chuckle a little.

'Oh, is that so? Then shall I make you mine?' He asked in a low growl through their bond as he returned Yuugi's embrace by wrapping his arms around him and pulling him as close as he possibly could, almost seeming to aid his love when he pressed himself into him. 'For I have yearned for you for what seems like an eternity~'

His expression, and his heart, fell at Izayoi's question. He hadn't been expecting her to ask him but wasn't entirely surprised by her doing so. "Sadly...I'm afraid I haven't had the courage to ask him for his hand." He admitted as he sat down on the couch behind him and looked at her with rather ashamed expression. "In my time, at my age, my father would've been the one to choose my future queen. Love wouldn't of had anything to do with it. But, now that I am free to do as I please...I find myself incapable of doing something that should be as easy as breathing and I don't know why."

After seeing Kagome’s results for her and Inuyasha’s compatibility, his had become curious as to what his and his boyfriend’s would be. He typed in their names and hit calculate. 

His expression fell at the results...

Perhaps this challenge was a little silly. Atem could tell that there was something magical about this man, for he had him entirely entranced. Those amethyst orbs staring back at him just seemed to pull him deeper under their spell the longer their gaze had gone uninterrupted. Not even when the young magician took a drink from his glass or asking his question. It wasn’t until he said that he didn’t need to touch the cards in order to make Dark Magician appear on the top of the deck, stating that the heart of the cards only beat to his spirit...but...how did he know? He had made no mention of it in their conversation thus far. At least, not that he could remember.

He hardly had time to consider this question before he was stunned into silence from watching his favorite card suddenly appear on the top of the deck of cards. How did...? He didn’t even feel the cards move! That confirmed it! There was no doubt! Whomever this young man was, he certainly had a talent for harnessing magic in the mortal realm. A gift not granted to many. In ancient times, magicians were often sought after for guidance and wisdom, even finding themselves a part of the royal court. One such magician having granted him immortal life till he found....the one.

Was this truly him? 

He couldn’t help but stare in amazement for a moment or two before he was able to regain his composure. A chuckle escaped him as he arched a brow, “Well, you have definitely passed my challenge. If you don’t mind me asking...” He looked down to his own glass this time as he turned Dark Magician over and shuffled him back into his deck, then returned the cards to his jacket pocket before looking back up again. “...You wield your power with ease, how long have you had your abilities?” He asked, choosing his words careful in attempt to be discreet from passersby, this time fixing the young magician with a curious stare.

Not All Smoke and Mirrors

The monarch’s jaw dropped slightly in reaction to the challenge that the little magician had laid before him. Ok, clearly this guy has been asked that question before and knew just how to answer it. But then, why ask to have his skills proven in a test? Was he trying to get himself caught? “Well now…..that was very bold of you.” He stated, arching a brow and his mouth curving into an intrigued smirk.

“Very well.” Atem agreed and knew just the test to use. He reached into the inside jacket pocket of the sleek, black leather jacket he was wearing over a white muscle shirt, the chain necklace he wore making a soft metal clanging metal sound as it was moved slightly, and pulled out his Duel Monsters cards. He knew it looked probably looked a little childish but he didn’t care. These cards meant more to him than anything in the world at present. “My challenge is this.” He started, shuffling his deck, completing three full rotations, then pulled a card from the top, and revealed it. It was Dark Magician, his most loyal friend. “If you can make the Dark Magician appear on the top of this deck of Duel Monsters cards, face up and the right way up, then I shall believe that you are truly a magician and not a fraud.” He replied, placing Dark Magician back onto the top of the deck and shuffled it several times this time before stopping.

The truth was, he was hoping that this stranger was going to be able to pull it off. He hadn’t seen real magic since he decided to leave the life that he once knew. Having once been Pharaoh of all of Egypt in Ancient Times, Atem knew what true magic, REAL magic, looked like and where it came from. And going off of what he had witnessed from this young man so far this evening, he was definitely showing signs of having the ability to harness the real thing.

“That is my challenge. Are you in?” He asked, a sly smirk curving his lips again. If he truly did possess this natural ability, like he did, then Atem had the proof he needed that magic still lingered in this world. It was just harder to find. But then, why did it take seeing this..rather adorable young magician in order for him to see it. Whatever the reason was, he was intrigued by curiosity and he wanted to witness what happened next. He then held up his deck and offering it to the man.

 Yuugi could see immediately that he’d enticed a competitive side out of the mysterious man and smirked to himself as he took his cup in hand and sipped from it without breaking eye contact. If there was one thing he loved, it was getting skeptics to believe in magic. Even if it didn’t actually exist, belief was a powerful thing and the belief in the possibility of magic was equally powerful.

 “I’m told I can be rather bold. Sometimes comes off the wrong way too,” he replied with a chuckle.

 Dear Gods was he flirting? He was! Oh well, so sue him! The guy in front of him was smoking hot and - he noted - was a gamer going by the impression he got when he pulled out a deck of Duel Monsters cards. Plus he seemed to love a little friendly competition. If they got to know one another, he was certain the two of them would get along beautifully.

 “Dark Magician huh?” he replied, his interest visibly perked. “He was my favorite monster too when I played Duel Monsters. Haven’t played since dad died, but nostalgia is a sweet thing depending on the memory.”

 Who knew? He may pick it back up after tonight, only time would tell. But for now he watched him slide the Dark Magician back into the deck and shuffle with the fluid grace of a pro. Maybe a professional duelist then. And true to a game lover, his challenge was to get Dark Magician to the surface, face up and right side up.

 Knowing his objective, he nodded and set his cup aside, before holding up a hand and shaking his head.

 “No, I don’t need to touch the deck. Besides, the heart of the cards beats to your spirit, not mine.” He smiled at the man rubbed his hands free of the moisture they had gained from the cup’s condensation. “No for this, you can hold them. Let’s see if I can call an old friend to the top. In one, two..” 

 He snapped his fingers and pointed at the deck where the Dark Magician had appeared face up and turned right side up.

 “There he is.”
