Can you please write stories or headcannons for the kids in the Shadowhunters world? Especially Rose from Land I Lost? No one ever uses her for anything.

I also just really like the kids we have and I want more stories were every downworlder/Shadowhunter couple just drops their babies off in Clace and Sizzy care while going on a double quodrooble date.

A teeny Drabble about Rose for you :)

“That’s him!” Rose whispered to brother. “Act cool.”

She wasn't very sure how exactly one was supposed to act in front of a Consul. She hasn't met one before. She wasn't sure if any of them had met a Consul before. 

“What is a Consul?” her brother whispered back.

“No idea,” Rose shrugged. “Apparently he is important.”

“Why is he important?” her little brother asked insistently. 

“I don't know, little tulip,” she shrugged apologetically again. It was difficult being the older sibling when you didn't have many answers. “But Consuls are apparently a big deal among shadowhunters. Maman says Alec Lightwood is the biggest deal they have.”

Her brother giggled quietly and quickly covered his mouth. When Rose had heard that Alec Lightwood was visiting the faerie courts, she had sneaked in see him. Of course her brother had sneaked in after her. He had promised to be quiet if she let her see the Consul too. 

She stood on her tippy toes and saw Alec Lightwood talking to a blond shadowhunter, who seemed to have faerie features. The Blackthorn, she figured.

“Is Alec Lightwood really tall or are we all just super short?” her brother wondered out loud and Rose shushed him. 

“Do you think if I walk past him, you can take a quick picture of the two of us?” she asked her brother. 

“I thought we were supposed to act cool,” her brother grinned. “That doesn't sound like acting cool.”

“I just want a picture with Alec Lightwood,” Rose muttered. 

“Don't you know him?” he asked her then. “You have met him, haven't you?”

“Yes,” Rose sighed. “But I don't think he remembers me.”

Of course she remembered him. Alec Lightwood was the reason she had a family of her own. The reason she wasn't living in the streets, stealing from shadow markets and running from shadowhunters. He was the reason her maman was alive. 

So Rose stayed back and watched him quietly, as Alec Lightwood was joined by even taller man who was very shiny. Once the meeting was over, Alec Lightwood and the glittery man started to walk down the pathway and Rose tried to quickly hide with her brother. 

“Rose?” the voice called out and she winched. 

If one of the gentry had caught sight of them, her mom was not going to be thrilled. 

“Rose?” the voice called again and Rose came forward to see Alec Lightwood smiling at her. 

“You remember me,” Rose blurted out. 

“Of course, I remember you,” Alec Lightwood replied with a smile. “Comment vas-tu?”

“You speak French!” Rose gasped. 

“Just a little,” he told her with a blush. “I am still learning. I hope your mom is doing well. And Joaquín too.”

“We thought you wouldn't remember us,” Rose bit her lip. “Because you are Consul now.”

“Who is apparently a big deal,” her brother provided. 

The glittery man chuckled at that. 

“I think that’s all the more reason to remember you better,” he told her. “That’s an important responsibility of a Consul - to remember of everyone.”

Rose smiled up at him and suddenly he looked like the young boy she had met all those years ago - determined but kind.

“Magnus, could you?” Alec Lightwood whispered something to the man next to him.

Magnus smiled and waved his hand around in a blue haze and a floral crown made of pink roses appeared in Alec’s hands. He placed it softly on her head and patted her head a little awkwardly. 

“See you later, lait de coco!” he waved at her as he walked away. 

“Did he just call you coconut milk?” her brother giggled.

I've been doing a lot of reflecting lately and here's what I've got.

I feel like the problem with most people is that they don't recognize exactly where Ty is coming from and what he's dealing with because the kind of insecurity and trauma he's feeling is rooted in ableism. Growing up a certain way, always having to be on your guard, always having people who are after you for no good reason, it tears you down. And I think that's why everything with Kit hurt so much.

But the thing is, I'm also well aware of Kit's situation as well.

Being neglected and abandoned your whole life also tears you down. And if he really believes Ty doesn't care about him then that would probably only re-enforce those feelings he always had from the beginning. That no one really cares about him. So it sucks because they're both so hurt and they feel so betrayed by each other.

But my issue with the fandom is I feel like people dont make an effort to understand Ty's pov even though I fully understand where Kit is coming from. The problem is with the way the world works autistic people are always the ones that have to make the effort to understand other people and never the other way around. Like people say they relate to Ty less then Kit or they understand Kit more then they understand Ty, but I feel like they aren't making the effort to try. Some people will even say that Ty is better off because he has always had a loving family.

What you don't get is that it doesn't matter whether Ty has no one or a thousand people on his side, in the end he will always be alone. Because that's what it means to be autistic. Hannah Gadsby once said " I find it very difficult to connect to others, because my brain takes me to places where nobody else lives." And she's right. So don't tell me that Ty doesn't understand what it's like to be alone. But despite all of that we still try.

One of my autistic friends from the Autistic Women's support group I joined phrased it perfectly in my opinion. "It's like we're on a bridge, with us on one side and allistic people on the other and instead of meeting halfway in the middle of the bridge autistic people have to walk all the way down to the other side of the bridge every single time. That's exhausting."

In conclusion. Please just try and meet us half way and we will do the same with you.
