So Godslingers begins with a Storytelling Phase. Each player rolls 3d6 and then uses a variety of tables to guide filling in an Old God's concept, domains and various interwoven stories.

These gods are all long dead by the time Godslingers Roleplaying Phase begins, but their legacy and power lingers in the hands of interstellar drifters.

Godslingers had a really loooong dev period. Like I was working on it simultaneously with the Old Gods and Young Guns setting guide and that came out in '22. It went through various GMless iterations (the book does still include rules for GMless play but that's no longer the focus) and the relationship between the gun and the Godslinger used to be much more fiddly and abstract mechanically.

Buuuut the Storytelling Phase was actually pretty set from very early on. So when it made sense to include some pre-written gods in Thirty Foes OR Once again, we are defeated (a storytelling/mapmaking game about powerful outsiders protecting a dead end village from an entire army, inspired by Seven Samurai) the way I did was I just went through the Storytelling Phase from Godslingers by myself multiple times.

Anyway all three books set in the Fourth Galaxy are pretty sick and also completely stand alone, as much as they can inform and weave into each other.

Instead of "rule of cool" (ignoring the rules-mediated outcomes in favor of an outcome the table agrees is cooler) I think there should be more "cool rules" (rules that produce cool outcomes as is)

I’ve just become aware of this game studio that makes RPGs about language.

They have a free (free!) digital version of a game about the history of Nicaraguan Sign Language.

They also have this game called dialect about developing and then losing a dialect of an isolated community and I’m genuinely losing my mind over this. It’s only 30$….

This is honestly an incredible undertaking, and we should all thank Rath for doing this so none of us feel compelled to do it.

the "irreversible damage" book cover is still perhaps the most succinct demonstration of how the laserfocus the detranxiety movement has on muh poor little girls is fundamentally an outgrowth of the general terror about declining (white) birth rates and white woman fertility as a dwindling resource. like, what's actually wrong with the kitschy smiling little girl in that picture? she looks pretty content for someone "mutilated." is she missing her head, brain, heart, limbs or what? anything that would obstruct her in living out her 8 decades on this earth? hell no, it's much worse than that. it's something that actually matters. she's missing her ability to produce White Babies. you're telling me we've spent decades working to overturn roe or at least make it as difficult as possible and now that we succeeded they've found a way to weasel out of being a reproductive resource anyway? that just won't do.

my manager just asked me what my hobbies are outside of work and i cannot accurately describe how surreal it was. it was like being asked by the guy who locked you in the dungeon if you used to do anything fun before they locked you in the dungeon.

When someone is being submissive? Giving up some control? You respect that. They are trusting you, relying on you. Don’t fucking betray that trust. Educate yourself, be respectful and keep them safe.

When someone is dominating you, remember! Their comfort level is just as important as yours. They are relying on you to communicate your needs and problems. Don’t suffer something in silence because you want to make things easy or better.

PEOPLE ARE NOT KINK DISPENSERS. People are. People. With lives and feelings and emotions. Give your partners respect, because they are giving themselves to you.
