Trust me, I know, I totally get it. And yeah, let's figure out a time that she can come over. She can stay overnight even if you'd like. Of course I love spending time with her, but also it'll give you a break. Toddlers are no joke, and she's nothing like Riley was at the age. But yeah, she'll have fun and you can get some rest. It absolutely is, but thankfully the calls most of the times don't involve fires around this time of year. But I'll take it over it being completely boring.
Things have just been busy, you know? So you get it. But we can absolutely figure out a time for you and Lynn to take Rosalyn if you want to spend some time with her. She'd probably love that honestly, having some time with her cousins. Is work keeping you busy? Feel like as the weather gets better crazier things always seem to pop up.

"Oh totally fucking with him," he laughed, and as far as Theo knew, Jason wasn't an accident. But he couldn't help messing with his little brother when they were kids. "Honestly I wouldn't even know and plus I couldn't ask. Not now anyway," he replied, shedding someight into his relationship with his parents. He would never dare to ask them in the past and now, well he hasn't spoken to them in over a decade and wasn't planning on starting the relationship back up anytime soon. He listened to Chandler speak about his own esperiences and offered up a gentle smile. "I see I see," he replied with a nod, and didn't want to push him into sharing anything he wasn't comfortable with doing. Thought at the mention of Chandler being a rich kid growing up, Theo leaned back with a surprised expression. "Now that I found surprising," he said truthfully as he couldn't see it. "Though I know how it goes. I wasn't a spoiled rich kid growing up but my parents had a certain," he trailed off trying to find the right words to describe his childhood. "They had a certain expectation for us all. Keep up appearances and such, if that makes sense." He concluded, not sure if it was the same experience as Chandler but to the outside world, those not in the Browning house, it probably seemed like he was a spoiled rich kid.
All this talk about kids and parents, got Theo in the heartstrings. He hated thinking about his kids growing up, and plus it made him feel old. Despite being in his forties, he didn't physically feel old at all. However when it came to slang and pop culture, he was ancient. "Oh," he said, extending the word, now it making sense. Shaking his head, he couldn't help but chuckle at how out of touch he was. "I mean there's stranger names out there for companies."
"Was he an accident, or are you just fucking with him?" Chandler asked curiously. As Theo referred to him as a happy accident, he pursed his lips and glanced down while he tried to decide how to reply. "I'm sure my parents wouldn't disagree with you, but I don't think it's, uh...." He trailed off, not wanting to bring the mood of the conversation down. "They just aren't the kind of people who were ever gonna be fulfilled settling down and starting a family. Having me forced them into that. But they love me, so it's not like..." It wasn't like what? His childhood was very rocky, there wasn't a lot of positive things he could say and he didn't want to lie to Theo. Instead, he shrugged and focused on what other people saw from the outside. "I was totally the spoiled rich kid growing up though, so I can't complain too much. It was fine most of the time. Could get a little lonely, but that's life."
He smiled as Theo said he was glad Chandler lived this long. It was crazy to think he was an actual adult and not a teenager or college student anymore, and then actually laughed at Theo's confusion around 'gyatt' and 'rizzler'. "Rizzler is someone with a lot of charisma. Charisma, rissma, rizz, rizzler." He broke it down for the older man. "'The charmer and the ass, LLC'?"

Theo smiled at the other, though he quickly realized he startled her. "Sorry about that," he apologized, realizing she had been entranced by what was going on with the others and the drills. "It's not as hard as it looks, you'd be surprised at your own strength," he offered up, and he nodded towards the guys and the dummy they were dragging along the floor. But he understood being weary, as it wasn't for everyone. At her mention of Flour Co, he now realized why she looked so familiar. "Ah yes, you always get my order perfect," complimenting her and adding a smile. She was probably their best batista, always making his order correctly. Eyeing the box in her arms, he was about to offer help with carrying it to where her car was or where she needed to bring it, when she offered it up for the house. "Oh, uh yeah, sure. That'd be great," he nodded and went to grab the box from her. "It definitely won't go to waste here, trust me!"
Evie wasn't trying to ogle the guys by any means, but she was impressed with their skills. Enough that she was slightly startled when approached. "Oh! No, thank you. I mean, I'm tougher than I look, but there's no way you could pay me to do those drills," Evie insisted. While a tour of the fire house sounded interesting, she only had so much time before she had to be at the diner for her next shift. "I work out Flour Co-- actually I believe I've seen you there a few times..." That was not the point, Evie; she chided internally. "Anyway," the brunette shook her head. "We had a last minute cancellation of donuts and muffins, so I thought you guys might want them at the station?" She held up the large box in her arms. "I'd hate to see them go to waste."

"Exactly," Theo replied with a wide grin, though he and Jason were quite similar in some things, they were vastly different with others. But he felt as if whatever one liked, they liked and that's who they were. "I bet, thankfully you've only got one there," He chuckled, "having two would be chaos. Though trying have a shepherd and a dalmatian. Now that's a recipe for some mischief." He noted, talking about his own dogs and how they too can cause some trouble. "That's true, and I won't lie. Sometimes it is tough. Some shifts absolutely suck."
"Different strokes for different folks, right?" Trey said, returning the smile with one of his own. He was a bit more of a loner himself, it's just that his job and lifestyle involved engaging with people so often. "They're smart as a whip, too, so you don't know what kind of evil they're going to do with that energy." He listened as he stepped ahead to Theo talk about his job. "Yeah, but when you have emergencies, it's human lives on the line often, so that's extra rough too."

Theo's face scrunched as he signed, definitely letting Elliot on to knowing he wasn't one hundred percent confident. Seeing Elliot take out his phone, Theo felt both a sense of relief, as he was at learning and typing was easier, as well as a sense of dread, hoping he didn't just sign for something utterly horrible. Reading Elliot's message, Theo pulled out his own and typed away. You got it boss man, sounds good. Holding up a finger to Elliot, Theo then added, thanks for this by the way. Getting me out here and also for being so understanding with my and the rest of my family's learning. He then turned the screen towards Elliot, a small smile upon her lips. He then pocketed his phone and nodded as Elliot chose the harder of the two paths. Works for me, he signed back, and gave Elliot a bright smile.
Elliot gave a nod of his head as he watched Theo sign once more, holding up a finger as he reached for his phone for a moment. Don't second guess your signing, you're doing great! If I don't understand something, I'll let you know. Promise. And if you don't understand something I sign or need to me use my phone instead, just let me know. Smiling as he turned it around to face Theo for a moment. Wanting him to know that he was more than okay with whatever form of communication that worked for them. That he didn't mind one bit if Theo might stumble over his signs, it was how he was going to learn. Pocketing his phone, Elliot nodded towards the one that lead to the falls. It wasn't quite as easy as the other one and he was up for a slight challenge. "Lets do that one." He signed back slowly, nodding his head in its direction as well.

"That he does," Theo replied with a grin. Jason and his camper, out in the country side, and all it has to offer. "I don't know how he does it. The quiet, the no neighbors, I don't get it." He replied with a chuckle and a shrug. Sure Theo liked the quiet, but out here it was way too quiet for his liking. "Every border collie I've ever met really does have a never ending supply of energy," he nodded, thinking of his own dogs back home who were also working dogs and had the energy. It was just that Theo didn't have the energy to take them both out on the trail today. "Hm, and I thought my shifts were rough. At least when I'm off shift after twenty four hours, I'm fully off." Regarding being on call at a moments notice.
"Oh, but your brother basically lives out here. Okay, he literally lives out here." Trey laughed, thinking of Jace and his small home and love of the wilderness. "That's the curse of border collies, they have far too much energy to burn, even when they've got a job to do." He shook his head. "But I'm technically always on call this time of year, in case there's vet emergencies, so it's hard to get a few long hours. I'm sure you know what that's like as well."

Theo just stood there and looked at his nephew for a moment, taking in all the chaos of the moment before turning his attention back to his sister. Sympathizing with her, he gave her a thoughtful nod, though he truly did understand what she had been going through. But he couldn't help but chuckle to himself, knowing it was bound to happen when raising kids. "Agreed," he said sternly with a hint of mischief in his voice, though he'd hate to actually have to separate the cousins. "Don't blame me on this one. Plus I got into way more mischief with Jason way before you were even born." He said and raised both his hands, "also did you forget, I'm a firefighter who has seen his fair share of things kids can get into." He said wagged a playfully stern finger between Tessa and then Gabe.
Raising both eyebrows, Theo buried his face in his free hand. He could only imagine what happened. He listened to her recount Gabe's antics, folding his arms across his chest and nodded along. "Geez dude," he said looking at his nephew, giving him a once over making sure he wasn't also hurt at any point. "Okay, I take it back. Your son is definitely worse then Jason and I combined. Plus not even Riley has done something like this." He laughed, thankfully between work around his house, the firehouse, and helping out Cage, he would be able to fix what had been damaged. Turning to his sister, he asked playfully, "maybe we get Jason over and send Gabe over here to boot camp. Maybe that'll work."
Theo’s words had Tessa looking from Theo to Gabe and then back to Theo. “Nope, nope, those two are not allowed to see each other again until they are both 18,” she stated in a serious tone. Tessa would have meant every word if it were not for the fact that she would never keep her son and nephew apart. Tessa’s body relaxed once her brother’s arms wrapped around in a hug. “Because I’m the mother of a son. Unlike you who are the father of a son. You get why boys do crazy outlandish things. I on the other hand just see my precious little baby and all the bad things that could happen to him,” she explained before letting out a long sigh.
“The wall!” She responded, rolling her eyes as she did. Tessa was sure that Gabe’s plan wasn’t so much to slide into the wall as it was to slide down the stairs. “It seems your nephew over there decided it would be a good idea to take one of the Amazon boxes I have in the garage to use as a sled. I’m assuming the idea was to slide down the loft stairs, but my son didn’t think things through. As he rounded the corner he realized he would go into the wall upon reaching the bottom. This caused him to grab the railing and snapped it off the base.” Tessa tried her best to keep eye contact with her brother the whole time she explained what happened; however, there were those few times she could not help glaring at her son. “Oh, and his foot did go through the wall.”

"I say that about my brother all the time," he joked with a wink, though of course he had always joked with Jason about their parent, but he never did with his sisters. "I'm sure if you were an accident, it was a happy one." He tried his best to reassure Chandler, and hoped it worked. Regarding babysitting and food, he was absolutely down to have Chandler over, though he didn't necessarily feel right to just invite him over to cook for him and maybe take care of the kids. Of course he'd offer something else in the meantime. "Well I'm glad you did," he offered up a smile, though he didn't mention anything that he caught onto his statement about being alive for that long. "You lost me there, I have no idea what a rizzler is either. A gyatt and a rizzler? Sounds like a law firm or a partnership for an LLC."
"Hm, that's why my parents said they had me. But joke's on them, because I know I was an accident." He casually explained with a shrug. As Theo took him up on babysitting and food, he didn't comment although he was mentally thinking about what to cook. Maybe he could retract the part where he was responsible for keeping children alive, though. "Never thought I'd live long enough to be out of touch with slang." He grimaced. "A gyatt. Often said in the phrase 'sticking out my gyatt for the rizzler'. I know what a rizzler is, but I'm not sure if gyatt is supposed to be ass or something else."

Taking both Duke and Luna out for a walk in the countryside, Theo set out to enjoy the warm weather. Packed with a couple of empty garbage bags in case he came across any trash, a blanket to relax on if need be, and some water for the dogs, Theo set out, dogs by his side. After some time, they got into a groove, the dogs heading up a path, until Theo decided it was time for a break, allowing the dogs to rest, drink some water, and relax for a bit. Getting to a clearing he saw someone doing the same, sans a dog. Thankfully Duke and Luna were friendly, but Theo held their leashes a bit tighter in case the other didn't like dogs. "Hey, sorry to sneak up on you like that. And I agree. Thankfully it's gorgeous out here today though!"

Where: Countryside, Earth Week
If there was one thing he found himself missing about LA, it was he warm weather. It felt like the last month he had been here had been nothing but cold but as soon as the sun made its way out, so did James. Back in the day he had been more outdoorsy, however these days he wasn't as much, though he did enjoy getting out from time to time. And with it being Earth Week, he figured now was as good as time as any. So with a small bag pack, James found himself at one of the open spaces in the countryside, kicked back on the grass. His fingers tapping out beats against his leg, content to just be for a moment. Realizing a few seconds later he wasn't the only one out there, James gave the other man a grin in greeting. "Was starting to think it'd never get warm here."

Leaving both dogs at home, Theo joined Trey and Bernie out at the state park for a hike. He figured to leave them both at home, not wanting to deal with any craziness they might get into while in the middle of a hike; they were good dogs, trained well, but Theo figured it'd be easier to join Trey solo. Turning to him as they started on the path, Theo nodded, "Um I try to. My brother would probably drag my ass out here any chance he could." Theo chuckled and then shook his head a bit, "I don't get out here as much I like to though. And I bet he does," Theo replied with a grin and nodded towards the dog ahead of them.

Where: State Park
Trey let Bernie lead the way on most of their hikes, because the dog was smarter than most people he knew. Plus, it was a beautiful spring day to be out and about and there were more people than usual on the trails- not that it was a bad thing. "Do you go hiking often?" he asked Theo, the man standing beside him. He was always glad for a new friend to get out into nature with. "I don't go as much as I should, but the dog loves it, so we're out once every few weeks."

"Yeah, had kids to help around the house and to make sure I went to a good home when I get too old," he joked and rolled his eyes. "But I'll never turn down a good home cooked meal and free babysitting," he responded to Chandler's offer, wondering if he truly meant it or had been joking. Theo listened to Chandler, and couldn't help but laugh at the mention of him feeling old, "join the club, it's definitely a bit trippy when it first happens. But hey it was bound to happen sooner or later." He offered, poking fun, despite the obvious age gap between Chandler and himself. Theo knew all too well how that feeling went, between his own kids, his friend's kids, and even some of the younger firefighters at work. He was constantly bombarded with new slang and new technology. It was a wonder his head didn't explode from the influx of information. Cocking an eyebrow, Theo's face twisted into an expression of confusion, "I'm sorry, a what?"
"Isn't that why you had children? Or you could get your wife to help, and I'll take care of the kids and cook you dinner." Anything to avoid painting the side of a house again. At least Theo hadn't expected him to use power tools. Then again, he wasn't sure if he'd be any better at babysitting. He nodded about Theo being happy about his business. While it was true that photography was keeping him busy, it also gave him a very convenient cover for not being around much. "Tons of opportunities. But also a lot of interacting with teenagers. I don't think I'm that old, but the amount of interactions I've had with them lately are all making me feel old." As he made that joke out loud, it made him feel like he was turning into his dad, and he swallowed that feeling down as fast as he could. "Still haven't figured out what a gyatt is."

Happy with a day off in general, Theo was doubly happy that he was getting to spend it out in the outdoors and with Elliot. Life had taken over for a bit, with both of the getting so busy. Plus working at a firehouse was hectic enough for Theo, he could only imagine how hectic life got working at the hospital for Elliot. As they got closer, Theo looked between the two paths that Elliot had pointed to, both of which Theo had done in the past. Neighter of which he cared which they chose. As Elliot signed, Theo thought for moment and signed back, "you choose" and then pointed at Elliot and then at the two paths, unsure if he signed his response correctly. He was working on learning, but he was still mostly unsure if himself and his abilities.
Between being back at the hospital for work and taking care of Sawyer, it had been a while since he had seen Theo, and Elliot was very glad for their day out together. Grinning as he signed back to him, impressed with the amount that of sign language that Theo had been picking up on over the weeks. Shooting a thumbs up back at him before he pointed to the two different paths, one that would lead back to the falls, and the other a bit more easier of a trek. "Which one?" Elliot asked, doing his best to keep his signing simple, not for sure how much Theo knew and not wanting to confuse him. More than ready to grab for his phone as soon as the other needed. He pointed to the two paths again before giving another thumbs up, letting him know that he was good with either one.

Being outside and hiking was something Theo had always enjoyed. Though he probably didn't enjoy it as much as his brother Jason did, but he definitely still enjoyed it nonetheless. Meeting up with Elliot was just what he needed after a few rough shifts at work. The open air, the smell of the earth, and a good friend who was family, was just what Theo needed and looked forward to. After parking his truck and grabbing his bag from the passenger's seat, he saw Elliot immediately and waved over to him. Theo signed back "Ready" and then gave him a thumbs up. He was steadily learning ASL and ready to practice it while hiking along.

This was the time of the year where Elliot felt truly alive, when it was nice enough to be outside and during things. And so when Earth Week rolled around, it came to no surprise that he found himself out and about, meeting up with Theo for a hike. Getting out of his truck, his eyes scanned the parking lot, grinning and raising a hand in greeting as he saw Theo. Moving to the backseat, Elliot grabbed for his hiking bookbag and slung it on, slamming the truck door, and heading over to the other. "Ready?" He signed with a grin, more than ready to get out on one of the trails for the day.
