Question for people who have more knowledge of the Na'vi language than me: Can "yawntu" be used in ways other than romantic? I've only ever heard it that way, but a lot a cultures and languages use the same affectionate words and phrases in multiple contexts.

I'm calling a conlang police!

So there's a thing that pisses me off in the avatar fandom, specially in the part that doesn't learn the language, is when they put a glottal stop, the apostrophe thingy, between the "ma" and the noun. Like "ma'Jake" "ma'Teyam" "ma'yawntu" and I always thought that this was incorrect but apparently ma'yawntu was IN THE GAME!

Is it canon now?!?!! Or it always was?! I'm confused 😭😭😭

For example, I always wondered, is it required for a na'vi to be a warrior? Like yeah, they only become one of the people when they become a warrior, or do they? Can you be just a gatherer and just chill, raise kids, weave? If not, it must mean that every na'vi is a warrior, even Mo'at is a warrior, and she has an ikran! And it also mean, that if you were born disabled, you will never be part of the clan, and just a burden for you people.

🥇Avatar (2009) - I'm so obsessed with this movie you can see my obsession right now x) wait no, you just can't imagine how am I obsessed until you talk to me personally lol this is unhealthy

🥈Spider-man: across the spiderverse - yes, the first movie is an undeniable masterpiece, but I just think that second part took everything that was good in the original and just doubled it

🥉 Interstellar - not fandom like movie, I haven't watched it in a while but as a person that was obsessed with space, stars, blackholes, sci-fi, this was a perfect movie for me, it tickles my special interests just right

It's more than three already, but there is one worth mentioning:

🏅Brother Bear - just a beautiful animated movie, one of my favorite as a kid (my stuffed bear name was Koda lol), if you haven't watched it, go watch it! You'll get a way better understanding on how I personally view story of Jake Sully in Avatar.

I think that might be the answer why I don't usually read fic, because I don't really enjoy reading smut, especially x reader (I'm a rare breed), there's so much of it that I'm already not even trying to find something that I would like

But I'm not for a romance either, though it can be very interesting too and have endless creative potential, but what I'm really looking for and would love to read is.. How do I put it? Just nerd shit 😭? Like I always wonder "how was the first meeting of na'vi and humans? Oh it could be a great horror story" or "what if I create a whole new clan with own culture and make story about it?" or "who were other Toruk Makto? There were 5 of them before Jake and we only know Entu. What if one of them was a woman?" and stuff like that!! I've only read once a fic like this, it was about "what if Jake and Tom were kids, and their parents alive and are scientists and went to Pandora with them and Jake and Neytiri met as kids" kind of unrealistic but who cares this is an interesting setting!

Now yall might send the pitchforks after me for this one but I feel like the fandom is kinda falling back because we’re at a point where smut is getting a little less appealing.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good sexy fic.

But I always just love some fluff and feels. Y’know?

We’re HUGE on smut.

But what about a story? No ‘porn without a plot’ (bc what’s a story without a plot?) I’m talking about a story in which readers experience connections that aren’t just physical or sexual. How about a story about forbidden love? Or best friends secretly in love?

Are you guys even aware how hard it is to find a Jake sully fic that isn’t smut? Trust me. It’s hard.

I feel like a good chunk that caused of the rise of our earlier avatar era was ‘I wonder what sex with these blue aliens is like?’

Trust me. We know what it’s like now. We’re FAR past the curiosity and ‘new discovery’ stage.

Im gonna be real guys. I’ve been here since January 2023. Ive seen all the smut, all the kinks, all the sexy stuff. I’ve seen it all.

You know what I haven’t seen?

Na’vi courting fics. Ever wondered what goes down with that? I have.

A unique perspective on Na’vi relationships. A huge part of writing is taking creative liberty. Who cares if you’re Na’vi isn’t perfectly right? Who cares if you want to write about an omaticaya with curly hair? Who cares?

(Maybe the super obsessive toxic people care.)

But I sure as hell don’t!

Creativity is freedom. You don’t have to read all the comics and interviews and visual dictionaries to write a story!

Im just yapping but the lack of non-smut content we have here is just a little too unappealing at this point.

Finally posting doodles of peoples OCs!! The last several weeks have been super busy for me and I didn’t have nearly as much time as I thought to work on these 😅 but I’m so glad to be hopping back in here again.

Just line art for now but I might go back and color them at some point. I have so many OCs saved that were either sent to me or I found that i immediately fell in love with so I will be doing another small round of these at some point in the future! Thank you for letting me draw your OCs!
