Mostly everyone knows in some way that the Icewarden and Stormcatcher are brothers. Nobody refers to them as that. Despite the fact that the deities are referred to as family, the fact that they’re both apart of the 2nd four, the fact that they are oddly similar, nobody really wants to delve into the implications of that. Until me I guess.
The Stormcatcher is one of the smartest deities, albeit very unwise. He knows every single technology his employees make, he can see every advancement, every single thing that makes his Flight one of the most knowledgeable and technologically adept. Always forward. Never look back. Continue to advance. Mistakes are not to be made again.
The Icewarden is not the most intelligent, albeit a bit wise. He lives his life to contain the Shade. His children are only for this purpose. Contain and stop the shade, nothing is bad enough to stop the progress of the shade, mistakes are taken and retributed. Blood can be shed and life can be taken. If you can’t contain it. Kill it. Don’t change. Keep the glory days. Contain what you can. Keep it still. There are no mistakes when there’s one strict goal.
Despite all these differences, they can be strangely similar. They’re both too serious for their own good. They take their work as serious as their lives and they can delve through their tasks for days? Weeks? Months? What’s a couple of years working on a task to a creature centuries old?
They see each other’s work as useless. Frivolous. They could be doing something useful. Why doesn’t he do that. Why doesn’t he do this. They both work just as hard as one another. They’re not going to see that anytime soon.
They’re brothers and it’s going to take another couple centuries until they get to admitting it. For now they’ll just look out across the sea, staring at the Flight that they just don’t understand. They’re never going to understand one another.
