3 Ways to Track Efficiency
If you are running a work-from-home business, you know that the most important element of business is a good employee. One valuable, loyal employee is worth ten employees who are just looking to keep their jobs.
However, when it comes to having employees who work from home, you may find that you lose productivity when you don’t hold your workers accountable. While many contract jobs are paid by project, you may find that you’re not sure if your hourly employees are living up to their potential. Check out these three ways you can monitor and track the efficiency of your employees.
1. Time Clocks
Having your employees punch in and out is a great way to monitor what is getting done in a specific time frame. You don’t have to watch everything they’re doing at every moment, but you can see how much they can complete with an eight-hour time frame. You can have your employees download timesheet software, or (if your employees are in the office) you can take advantage of Sage Timeslips installation service to get a time clock installed in your office.
2. Deadlines
Creating deadlines for work-from-home employees allows you to see how much an employee can complete in a larger time frame. Where time clocks can show you what can be completed in a day, deadlines give you a better understanding of what an employee can do over the course of 48 hours or two weeks. In general, when you work off of deadlines, you pay your employees by project rather than by the hour.
3. Reports
If you are still unsure whether or not your employees are being productive, ask them to write up a report of what they complete every day or week.  This is a great way to see how each of your employees utilize his or her time, and how they think critically about how the project is getting created and completed. The only downside to having employees write reports is that you have to pay them for the time it takes them to write the reports for you.
There are a lot of ways to determine how efficient your employees are at home or at the office. Make sure you give them a time clock if you are paying them by the hour. Take advantage of Sage Timeslips installation service to get a time clock installed in your office.
