One thing I've not seen yet in discussions of Kipperlilly's reasons for hating Riz is how much it parallels the feelings of people born into priviledged majorities about 'diversity hiring'.
The way she thinks that having a tragic backstory makes you a better adventurer, when all it really does is hurt you, is exactly the way I've seen white cishet people complain that being in a minority gets you priority for job offers/grants.
The idea that having pain in your past from discrimination or trauma is worth it because you get 'more opportunities' in the working world from being a POC or LGBTQ+ or disabled is a genuine belief that some priviledged people hold. And to me that really mirrors Copperbitch Kipperbottle's jealousy of Riz both having a dead father and ESPECIALLY coming from a poor background.
Just finishing up Season 5 of my 9-1-1 watch through and I, personally, am SHOCKED that Lucy and Ravi being besties isn't more of a thing (both in the show and in fanon). Like, I know they've only had about two and a half scenes together but I can just tell they spend all their free time at the firehouse bitching about the main five. I need 10,000 hours worth of edits about them right now. I don't even want them to be romantic or anything, I just need these two pretty best friends to have more scenes together absolutely dragging the rest of the 118.
But if Kipperlily had already stolen the spell components, Buddy already couldn't resurrect anyone. Why the murder? Just blatant disdain for her backup cleric? Did his grandfather set this up to make Buddy meet Helio that much sooner? If it was only to deny revivify, the pickpocketing would have been enough! It stopped Kristen, it would also stop Buddy.
Doylist perspective: Brennan is a great storyteller, and knows how to make things dramatic even when combat is going more smoothly than he planned. But I am so curious about the in-world narrative leading up to the murder.
Starting 9-1-1 because of Buck and Tommy is so funny because a) Early Season 1 Buck is. A lot. and b) Tommy’s in all the flashback episodes and when they first said his name I was like “huh weird one of the old 118 guys has the same name as Tommy, weird that they didn’t pick a new name when they were introducing Buck’s- OH WAIT A SECOND” genuinely I didn’t realize that was Buck’s Tommy until the end of the Chimney episode you’d think with the number of clips I’ve seen over the past week I would have clocked it instantly but in my defense, all beefy white men look the same to me
if you wanna listen to naddpod you should know this about the hosts: brian murphy is a straightman to his inner most core and he's the funniest person alive, these things exist simultaneously and would not exist without the other. emily axford is clinically insane to a point where it's easier to not try to follow her logic when she says things. jake hurwitz is a certified cool guy but he's the biggest loser in a room of nerds playing dungeons and dragons. caldwell tanner can only be described as exactly what a 1930's cartoon describes as a rascal. three of them are a throuple and the fourth is their boss.
