—⊹💜⊹— Shelby doesn’t respond at first, her doubts refusing to cease. She couldn’t help but worry about it, honestly. The thought of getting home just seemed distant now, after everything seemed to be falling apart. She hoped the calming atmosphere would help but it proved futile as it did little to combat her deepening hopelessness.
She wanted to reassure Damien about his statement, but decided against it— that would probably only make the mood worse, wouldn’t it? Sighing, she withdrew her gaze from the water & ended up laying across the grass, staring up at the crystals on the cave ceiling.
* “...”
She remains silent still, unsure if she should just drop the subject entirely or pretend that she didn’t believe something horrible was right around the bend. She wants to scream— to scream because she doesn’t know how the joy of Snowdin & playing in the snow with everyone had so quickly spoiled, & her hope had seemingly crashed.
* “But what if—... Nevermind.”
It wasn’t okay to say she couldn’t help but think they would get out. Despite the fact she wanted nothing more than to see her sister again, maybe it just wasn’t in the cards. Maybe they were just trying to win a losing game? She sighs. Part of her still doesn’t want to give up, & scolded her for being too ready to give up now. Everyone had to have some reason driving them to get out after all. Why was hers so weak in comparison?
* “Sorry... I shouldn’t have brought it up... just thinking too much, I guess.”

˗ˏˋ 『 ♥ 』 𝐛𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐡𝐮𝐞𝐬 shift to focus on shelby , he hadn’t expected that from her if he could be honest. he almost felt like he couldn’t be honest in his feelings with that question though ; so it took him a few moments to think on it. his brows knit together ; as he takes a stone , casting it into the water below them .. he looked troubled. ˎˊ˗

˗ˏˋ 『 ♥ 』 𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐬 to realize how heavy of a statement he’s just said ; he probably would’ve slapped a hand over his mouth if he hadn’t already finished saying it. he proceeds to sigh , a single hand gripping the dark grass around them for comfort. his answer this time seems a lot less personal ; a lot more damien. ˎˊ˗

shelby wouldn’t like nor get along with alphys…. at all. she feels alphys can be held responsible for two of her friends deaths due to her inability to step in and actually help them, & only does when it’s convenient for her.
after rowena’s death, if alphys calls after she has little patience nor any regret for chewing her out over the phone if she learns about the many cameras across the underground. to shelby, alphys could’ve saved damien, could’ve stopped mettaton or at least done something to stop rowena from having to die.
case in point, in shelby’s opinion, alphys is a coward who could & would let innocent kids die & still be able to sleep at night.
