Sustainable story at Treeful 🐢 The owner of Treeful purchased the land of Takae cape in Higashi village only to protect endangered Ryukyu mountain turtles. When he first found the turtles, he felt that the turtle was telling him, “help me”! The owner was approached by a firm to sell the land to use the rocks for construction, for 100 times more than the price of the land he originally bought the land for. However the owner refused to sell the land. He firmly stood for his purpose; to protect the endangered turtles. Shinrinyoku River Trekking🍃 At Treeful, our butler nature guide will take you to our “Shinrinyoku River Trekking” into the beautiful Genka river flowing in front of the treehouses and to the hidden waterfalls, as part of the special experiences, for free of charge. “Shinrinyoku” means taking in the atmosphere of the forest, in Japanese language. There is a scientific studies that after shinrinyoku, people’s stress level go down, and you feel more calm and refreshed. You will learn unique Okinawan plants, rock formations, and animals. The water comes up to your chest at times, so wear shoes and clothes that can get wet. 💡Treeful Inventions - Slit staircase One day when the owner-founder was building the pillars of the treehouse with a spiral staircase, "Spiral Treehouse," it was sunny out and he didn't want the ceiling of the room to completely block out the sunlight entering the room. At the same time, he wanted to make it possible for people to spend time on the rooftop, and also make the ceiling as light as possible since it is on the tree. The design that made all things possible was using “slit,” design in which bars are arranged vertically or horizontally with gaps in between, and this was when he started this slit design for more creations in the resort. Then this “slit staircase” was invented after. What is special about this staircase is that if you create a staircase by matching the height and distance between the top plane A where the stairway starts and the bottom plane B, the staircase become stable just by placing it on planes A and B without fixation. Treehouses and slit staircases, are on top of living trees as their base, so even if each tree moves and shakes, they are not fixed, so the staircase will shift without difficulty.
