I remember doing the post with the tropes in the past and seeing ‘reincarnation’ and having zero interest in it. I couldn’t even imagine likely scenarios or how to apply it to drarry or any of my ships.

And then of course wangxian came along lol

so I started wondering how a reincarnation AU might work for drarry:

harry dies in the forest

voldie wins

draco is filled with regret because he didn’t help harry in a more active way

he’s also filled with regret bc he never told him how he felt

he spends 16 years wearing all black and grieving

and seeking to capture harry’s soul but he can’t find it

16 whole years of regret and longing

yes it’s a lot

he also spends these years actively Doing Good under the very nose of the DE

and he adopts and quietly raises a boy he calls Phelan

then someone whose family was murdered by the death eaters discovers an obscure ritual. he sacrifices himself to give his body to HP so he can come back and stop Voldie

Harry is reincarnated in that dude’s body. he discovers a very different world. he pretends to be that person to avoid capture

but draco finds him, he realises immediately it’s harry, and what’s even stranger (for harry) is that draco won’t leave his side

he feeds him and looks after him, protects him and stands by him

he won’t anyone touch a hair on his head

and he definitely won’t let harry out of his sight

i’m talking ‘there’s only one bed’ situations

“my mansion has eleven bedrooms but you’re sleeping in here where I can see you”

at first harry is bemused

wtf

he believes that draco maybe fancied the person whose body he’s inhabiting

but eventually he realises that draco has known his identity all along and that’s why he’s doing all this

and he learns that draco has been working to undermine the regime all this time

and that he’s had feelings for harry

and that Phelan is in fact teddy

DE killed Andromeda and were after the kid as well bc of his parentage

so draco hid him and protected him and raised him like a son

and harry’s like ‘oh i’m in love?’

and when the bad guys close in

and death is certain (again)

harry pushes draco away. ‘pretend you never knew it’s me’, he says

‘save yourself and let them take me’

draco says ‘not on my watch’

and then they defeat voldie

and live happily ever after

.

a new year’s kiss for silver and gold🤍 i had a lot of post-war scenarios going on in my head while i was drawing this, but in the end i don’t know what to settle on. you decide~

happy new year, everyone! what a year it’s been! i’ve loved drarry for a long time (about 5 years), but i didn’t really start drawing for them until may/june this year. i was in a pretty bad headspace back then, but i’ve since gotten help and been much better these days. being part of this community is one of the things that helped me get back on my feet. i really do love drawing hp, especially drarry, and getting to share that love with all of you means the world to me. i don’t want to get too personal or sappy so i’ll wrap it up with this: thank you so much to everyone in this community for turning my year around. you’re all so creative and inspiring, and i’m honored to be here with you. let’s look forward to an amazing 2020❤️
