so was the rules that only one oc per person could get in the final bracket? i'm confused, because i see a few doubles. wouldn't it be more fair that everyone only got one since there's limited spots and some people didn't get accepted?

Nope! People could get multiple OCs in from the start! I was always clear about that but I guess it might've gotten a bit buried here!

And I understand that! But also I'm only one (vv fuckin indecisive) person so I would have had to keep the submissions open for much longer to do that properly and I think I would've legit died if I did lmao

So, early on, I decided that once I get the hang of everything from this, I'd do multiple brackets! In future brackets, I'd prioritize people and OCs who weren't chosen in previous brackets! So no matter what, everyone will get a chance in this! Honestly, it was kinda hard to choose from multiple people because some submissions didn't have any description for their OC included so yknow, thats almost an automatic lose bc we wanna see what makes someonws OC unique so like,,big rip<//3

I think im rambling again lmao but all in all this is just for fun! I'm hoping to be able to make this a reoccurring thing but also like....shit health + stressful irl shit makes this take a while BUT IT OKAY WE BALL B)

SUBMISSIONS FOR THE TRAGIC HERO OC DEATHMATCH ARE OPEN!

As with any good deathmatch, we must lay down some ground rules. So.

What does this competition define as a "tragic hero"?

A tragic hero is here defined, a little loosely, as "a character with a hamartia/fatal flaw who experiences tragedy resulting, at least in part, to this flaw". Given that this is a tumblr tournament poll, I'm willing to include ocs that dont specifically meet the classic standard of "tragic heroism" for the sake of Fun and Games. This is just a silly little fun poll of oc tragedians, so if you're erring on whether or not your guy Counts, go for it!

What characters can I submit?

Any sufficiently tragic-hero character that you have created and is this your Original Character, or "OC", is fair game for submission! If the character does not belong to you, you cannot submit it. If you feel that this is a grey area, I reccomend erring on the side of caution, but hey. I'm not your boss.

Where and when can I submit my character?

You can submit to the submissions document until 00:00 UTC on the morning of the 15th of July. For some timezones, this will stretch into the 15th, for some, this will be in the evening of the 14th. Thus, I will say for the sake of simplicity that submissions close on the 14th of July 2023.

Can I submit an image of my OC for use in the poll?

Yes, you are highly encouraged to! However, for the sake of not allowing anyone who sees this blog to potentially upload things to my google drive, you cannot do this in the document. Please send me a picture of your OC via my ask box or dms instead! If you are using picrew art or art done for you by a 3rd party, please include artist credit, as I will not post art without credit!

Can I submit an OC that is published in my own work/that I aim to publish?

Yes, but in this case, please only send me information that is already publically available about the character! I will publish all info submitted verbatim (with minor edits for formatting), and would hate to be responsible for posting spoilers!

Is it possible that my character won't make the cut?

Whilst I would love to include every submission, I do unfortunately recognise that it is likely that not everyone will be selected for the deathmatch. The reasons your character might be rejected include issues with seeding brackets, or unfortunately not reaching enough criteria of a specifically "tragic hero" (e.g. if they lack a hamartia). I strongly aim for a 100% inclusion rate but I am aware that it may not be realistically possible for me to include everyone!

What benefits can this position (entering my oc into your poll) offer me at this time?

Your history is a required topic. Given the nature of fate and stands, darker subjects are natural. However, please leave triggering topics (i.e. bigotry, sexual violence) out, or vague. My fellow researchers will be reading my eventual report, so please keep that in mind.

Combat experience or power is irrelevant, I will ensure you all have equal footing.

If you are a relative of any well-known stand users or figures from our history, you are still welcome to the study. If I find out, though, that Joseph has had another child out-of-wedlock... You will be permitted. He, however, will have some consequences.

Submissions into the study will close by July 12th. Voting will occur for a week each time. There may be occasional delays in results. I am a very busy man, after all.

Additional Notes:

Propaganda is welcome from all. Including, but not limited to, artwork, writing, and personal playlists, if you're into making those.

I will try to submit as many of you as I can into the study, but I cannot guarantee that everyone will take part. However, there is no limit for submissions.

Don't be an arse. Basic standards, it's not real and you'll forget about it two days after it's done. Treat this as you would a normal blog.

Don't submit weirdo OCs. As much as you might love your little guys, people like pedos/rapists etc. aren't allowed in. I don't care about their plot relevance, this is a silly guy competition.

Be reasonable with how many you submit. I know your funny guys are funny guys, but there can be too many funny guys. If you want a large group, use one form. Ten or so forms are too many.

Media OCs are not allowed! I'm so dearly sorry, but it would do too much on popularity. I too wish to submit my lads one day, but not here.

More of a suggestion, but reblog please? This won't flap its wings if there aren't enough feathers.
