hi!! i hope you’re having a wonderful day!! i had an Ominis Request if that’s okay?! Like the Ominis loves the reader and has since they met. she always on his side for everything? like she doesn’t want to help Sebastian and Ominis realizes that when he hears Seb practically forcing her to help with his mission and he sticks up for her?
She’s a pureblood and doesn’t believe in the “PureBlood Supremacy” like him and his aunt?
and since Wizards live longer than normal people, maybe they take in their Great-Nephew Tom Riddle Jr so he doesn’t turn into Voldemort and teach him right?
Sorry this is so much! It was just an idea i’ve had for a long long time and couldn’t write it myself!

Tumblr media
ominis' first encounter with you was by far the strangest he'd ever had. it was his first year in hogwarts and he had no luck making any friends as his childhood never taught him how. it never bothered ominis that he sat alone at the great hall table or the fact that he navigated through the halls with no one at his side. ominis gaunt was content and was fully prepared to go through his years at hogwarts that way.
that was until he met you, a month into his first year...
ominis was reading a book in a courtyard, comfortably sat on a bench. classes had ended a few minutes ago and he figured he'd pass time in the courtyard with his finger trailing across the braille filled pages. beside him laid his satchel filled of books and left over snacks from the day.
"oh, where did that blasted niffler go? i just knew sebastian's decision to keep it as a pet would end in disaster, but no, that idiot just had to-
ominis' eyes glanced up from his book and toward the feminine voice, which sounded a feet away and was clearly displeased at something. however, ominis paid no mind, bringing his eyes back to the book. no use poking his nose into business that wasn't his. that was until he felt something bucking against his thigh. his brows furrowed in confusion before one hand left his book to feel the leather fabric of his satchel beside him. what in salazar's name?, ominis thought as his fingers suddenly brushed against a tuft of smooth fur.
wait, fur?
ominis' fingers dug gently into the fur until he pulled out whatever it was that was hidden in his satchel. the mysterious thing in his hand began to purr and click and ominis tilted his head in confusion. an animal? ominis thought as his other hand placed the book aside, but then an abrupt gasp sounded from behind him.
"there you are, you little theif!" the same voice exclaimed and the pattering of footsteps rang in ominis' ear. with a sudden force, the unknown animal was taken from his hand and he could hear the struggling sounds of low growls in front of him.
"mmph, hold still, will you?!" the voice seethed and ominis could do nothing but stare at whatever scene was going on. "aha, i knew you took my locket! why, i ought to-" ominis ears picked up on the sound of coins clinking to the ground and other trinkets that sounded like jewelry.
"is that my ring?!" the voice huffed incredulously before receiving a growl from the animal. "and you're upset?! i have been looking for this ring for a week now! oh, my necklace as well?"
ominis heard about enough, albeit he was annoyed that his peaceful reading had come to a halt. "excuse me, do you mind?" he said with a bit of irritation his tone and he heard the girl gasp in surprise one again.
"oh, i didn't realize you were there!" the unknown girl sighed in distress. "did you steal from him too? c'mon now, cough it up, niffler!"
ominis nodded to himself as the sound of panicked purrs came from the animal, coming to a realization on what he had pulled out of his satchel. ominis grabbed his book and shoved it into his bag, before moving to get up. suddenly, a hand shot out and grasped his robes.
"w-wait, is this pouch of money yours?"
the voice asked as he heard a jingling of coins and he remembered that he had placed his pouch in his satchel that morning. his hand quickly dug into his satchel and as his hands felt for everything but the pouch, ominis let out a tired sigh and nodded. he meekly held his hand out toward the voice. the niffler certainly did steal his pouch.
"i told sebastian not to let this thing run loose." the girl growled and ominis felt the pouch weighing in his palm soon after. "sorry about all this. i didn't mean to disturb you."
"it's fine." came ominis' curt reply as he placed pouch into his bag. he was about to leave it at that when the girl began to talk to him once more.
"oh, you're ominis, right? ominis gaunt."
ominis pushed back a retort as he sighed, only nodding his head in response to the question.
"i don't believe i got to talk to you yet," the girl said amicably and ominis could guess that her face held a smile that matched the tone of her voice. "i'm (y/n) (l/n)! it's nice to meet you."
ominis silently nodded his head again, until something piqued his interest.
(l/n)?
the family name was familiar to him or rather ominis knew all too well about her family. a pureblood family that his own family often scoffed at when the subject was brought up at supper. although the (l/n)'s were rich and well known, ominis heard that the (l/n)'s weren't considered a part of the pureblood circle, only because their way of thinking differed from his family.
one, the (l/n) family weren't particularly fond of the unforgivable curses and made it clear that they would never use it by any circumstances. two, the (l/n) family didn't believe that only pureblooded wizard and witches should be able to wield magic. wether you were muggle born, half, or even a squib! if you had the power to wield magic, then you were a wizard/witch. there was never a thought of discrimination or prejudice in that family. it almost made ominis gaunt jealous as he looked at the girl, presumingly in front of him.
"well, i don't want to trouble you any further," the girl said after a moment of awkward silence. "i have to take this little thief back to sebastian and anne. i'll see you around, ominis!"
ominis scoffed at the thought of meeting her again, however a small twinge in his chest made him uncomfortable. it was not like what he had ever felt before. ominis felt warm from the interaction and it made him wary. he couldn't even see what she looked like, yet her voice was enough to make him feel this way.
oh, what rubbish, ominis thought as he brushed it off and adjusted the strap of his satchel on his shoulder.
like i'll be seeing her around.
-
oh how wrong ominis was because any chance that you spotted him in the hallways, you'd always happily greet him and walk him to any class that you had with him. any class that you had with him? suddenly you were sitting with ominis and chatting about something you did the day before. breakfast, lunch, and dinner? there you were with sebastian and anne sitting with him.
ominis couldn't escape your presence. not that he was annoyed...no, to his surprise, ominis grew quite fond of you and your friendly nature. before he knew it, ominis gaunt integrated into the friend group made up of sebastian sallow, anne sallow, and you. he had come to trust you all enough to show you the secret lair that he called the undercroft. it was a place that sealed the friendship. ominis wasn't sure how it had happened, but it did and his first year at hogwarts wasn't completely as lonely as he thought it was going to be.
and then fourth year came.
unfortunately, anne never came back to hogwarts after her third year due to a curse that was casted upon her. it pierced deeply into the now trio of friends, even with the many paid visits that you and ominis would make to the sallow's home during the break. it was clear to you both that anne sallow's health was deteriorating, but sebastian refused to accept the truth. the truth that anne wasn't going to make it.
"sebastian, you know that this-" ominis started only for his friend to growl out in anger. you flinched beside him and ominis felt you jolt into him which made him wrap an arm around you.
"you both are wrong!" sebastian had hollered, pointing an accusing finger at you and ominis. "there is a cure and i'm going to find it-"
"please, sebastian, not here." you whimpered with tears in your eyes as you gestured to the door which was anne's bedroom. "she's still asleep and-"
"i'll prove it!" sebastian yelled with his fists clenched at his side. his eyes glared at ominis, watching as he moved forward to place a hand on your shoulder.
"i don't care what it takes, i'm going to find a cure."
sebastian wasn't lying.
soon after beginning your fifth year, you felt the coldness of the undercroft. the undercroft that once held the chatter and laughter of your friends. the undercroft that once brought you four together in times of hard moments. whether it was the struggles of student life or ominis' heartfelt talks about his childhood. with sebastian using it as a pandora's box filled with theories and ideas for a cure, it no longer felt warm. it was just a reminder of what it once was.
you sat on the stone floor with your legs criss crossed. no warmth, no laughter. it just felt like you were sitting in a cold room that once was. you glanced down at your potions book on the ground with tears welling up in your eyes. the inked pages suddenly became blurred as your tears finally fell down your cheeks. droplets began to litter the page as you started to let out soft sobs.
"(y/n)?" you heard from behind and your body twisted around to find ominis walking into the room with his wand in hand. you quickly wiped the tears from your cheeks before letting out a soft laugh, wincing as you also sniffed.
"omins gaunt," you say with a forced smile on your lips as if ominis could see it before standing up. "sneaking up on me? and here i thought sebastian was the prankster."
you didn't receive a response, which made you tilt your head and walk up to him. your face fell as you noticed the grimace that ominis had. clearly your words filled with feigned cheer didn't get past ominis as he silently stood with his pale blue eyes gazing down at you.
you were about say something until his unoccupied hand came up to brush against your cheek. "ominis..." you sighed out with your eyelids softly fluttering to a close as you felt his cold palm on your skin. no response again as ominis' thumb brushed against your cheek. no doubt feeling the wetness of your tears that you failed to wipe away completely.
"you've been crying, haven't you?" ominis stated grimly. it wasn't really a question. "what's wrong, (y/n)? is it anne? sebastian?"
his tone held so much concern as he names off any possible reason you could be crying about. it made the tears that once were come once again. ominis picked up on the soft sniffles that you let out and he felt his hand being brushed away from your face by yours. you quietly stepped closer to him, wrapping your arms around his midriff while leaning your face into his chest. all he could do was pocket his wand and circle his arms around your waist.
"i-i'm sorry, ominis," you said in a hushed tone as you tried to talk through your sobs. "everything just isn't the same. not since anne-"
"don't be sorry, (y/n), it's alright to cry," ominis' voice sounded unwavering, but his chest clenched tightly around nothing as he heard your pained sobs. "but everything will be alright."
alright?, ominis thought to himself with a internal scoff. to hell if he knew if everything was even okay. when did ominis start thinking so optimistically? merlin, he didn't care. all that mattered to him at the moment was you. you, who was crying into his chest as if you had been hit with the worst curse in the book.
ominis wasn't sure what to do as he brought his hand up to brush through your (h/c) tresses. this was all he could do in an attempt to comfort you while cooing in your ear about how everything was going to be fine. although, you both knew the truth. anne wasn't going to live and sebastian was going to keep finding a cure for something that couldn't be undone, not even while he's withered away into ashes.
an hour later, you had finally stopped crying and ominis' arms never left your body. as soon as the tears subsided, you realized the close contact and your face flushed terribly. you pulled your face back from his chest and wiped your damp cheeks of any tears before looking up at him.
"thanks, ominis, you truly are a great friend." you say, however the word 'friend' singed your tongue as you spoke. it felt revolting to say.
"o-of course," ominis stammered, pulling away now with his arms to his side. you frowned at the loss of contact, crossing your arms against your body. "listen, i know it doesn't seem that way, but everything will be alright."
"i know, ominis, thank you." you replied and omnis heard you shuffle closer.
he has known you long enough to sense your presence and know your scent when it filled his nostrils. you were in front of him...very close. ominis felt your hands run up his chest gently and he couldn't help but stiffen at the warmth that your fingers held, even through his thick clothing. they brushed further up, reaching his neck and then to his face to which you encased his jaw with your palms.
"(y/n)?" ominis questioned in a soft voice.
you ignored him, bringing yourself to stand on your toes and lean your face upwards. ominis could feel your soft breathing against his skin now and his heart began to race nervously as you suddenly pressed your chest against his. then he felt something soft against his lips, which made his eyes widen.
you felt his hand grip your shoulders and pushe you away gently, which made your heart fall to the floor. damn you and your emotions. you couldn’t control yourself? what was the matter with you?
“ominis, i’m so sorry. i shouldn’t have done that-it’s just i’ve had feelings for you for so long and-i’m so very sorry...”
you kept on rambling, dreading the boy's silence and stilled body. ominis’ ears seemed to be ringing at your sudden confession. your words echoed loudly as if trying to engrave itself into his mind. you’ve had feelings for him after all this time? blasted it all, he thought you had feelings for sebastian with how close you two were. ominis had thought that for so long, yet here you were...kissing him and confessing?
"ominis?" you called out cautiously, tilting your head with a pursed lips. you could feel your face heating up in embarrassment. what if he didn't feel the same way? you wouldn't be able to let yourself live it. down. you wanted to curse out loud, but ominis wasn't moving a inch in front of you.
suddenly, you felt ominis' hand gently take yours and lifted it up to his face. you watched in silence as he pressed his soft lips upon it before feeling him smile against your skin. your face felt as though someone had casted incendio as he pulled you closer into his body. chest to chest now, he slowly let your hand go and placed it on your cheek.
"you've no idea how bloody long i've waited to hear those words come from your lips." ominis whispered as he bent down to draw his face closer to yours.
once again, his lips were met with yours and you closed your eyes in bliss with your arms coming up to wrap around his neck. ominis felt you pull him closer, as if you two weren't already molded together as it is. the kiss was gentle, yet feverish-almost needy. as if every word and thought that had been locked up and were relishing at the feeling of being freed.
however, you just had to feel him against you. the kiss was gentle, yet feverish-almost needy. as if every word and thought had been locked up and were now relishing the feeling of being freed. this kiss meant more to you and him than anyone could ever imagine. a feeling a disappointment waved over you as he slowly pulled away from the kiss.
"i love you, (y/n) (l/n)," ominis gasped softly. he was clearly winded with the passionate kiss that you two just shared, yet his words rang clear in your ears. oh, if ominis could see you now, your smile stretched from ear to ear at his words.
"and i love you, ominis gaunt."
-
you were humming with your books to your chest as you shuffled over to the undercroft. to your surprise, sebastian and the new fifth year student were huddled around the secret entrance, which made you all the more wary. it was already betraying enough that sebastian revealed their secret lair without you and ominis' knowledge, but to see them both standing there with grim faces made your blood boil. the nerve of them, you thought as you stood there with a glare on your face. it was clear that sebastian read the hostility and brought his hands up in assurance.
"(y/n), be calm, i know you're still angry about-" he started, but you huffed in response and turned your head away, flipping your hair on to you shoulder.
"angry?" you scoffed and pointed a finger to the new fifth year. "you let a stranger into our secret space and you want me to be calm? you know better than anyone how much this place means to me and you completely ignored it!"
sebastian winced at your words, knowing exactly what you meant. he had betrayed your trust in him. "i know, i know-but (y/n), we need your help!"
you glanced at the fifth year, who gazed at you with a sheep expression and then back at sebastian. your face softened a bit and you sighed heavily, before relenting. "well, what is it then?"
"it's best we not speak here," sebastian said in a hush tone before looking toward the new fifth year, who nodded in agreement. "c'mon, we'll talk in the undercroft."
you rolled your eyes as sebastian opened the entrance to the undercroft with the new fifth year following behind you two. the place that once was filled with happy memories were being replaced with secrecy. secrets that were bound to become trouble.
"alright," you say, setting your books on one of the old barrels that laid upright and turning around to face the both of them. "what is it that you need help with?"
"we need to find a scriptorium," the fifth year started and you tilted your head curiously. "it's hidden somewhere in this school and only one person knows where it is."
"well, i don't know where it is," you grumbled with your arms crossed against your chest and leaning your weight on one leg. sebastian seemed nervous now that you shot him a glance. he couldn't seem to meet your eyes as he glanced behind you.
oh, now i see what this is about.
"only one person in this school knows where it is," you say with a firm voice as you mostly addressed the fifth year. "and he also happens to be your longest friend, sebastian. so why not ask him?"
the fifth year now looked stunned as they looked back at sebastian, who seemed more nervous than before. you raised a brow at his timid posture and narrowed my eyes.
"i did-or rather, we did," sebastian stammered out, clasping his fingers together and licking his lips. "but, ominis refused to tell us."
"rightfully so," you scoffed, rolling your eyes. "merlin knows what you two are up to. clearly up to no good if its about the scriptorium."
"its to help anne," sebastian seethed, now feeling angry with your attitude. "and if you cared at all about her then you would do this. if not for me, then for her. that is if you ever even considered her a friend."
sebastian's brows were quick to smoothen out as he realized the words that had spewed out of his mouth. his face now held regret as you stood there with your fists clenched at your sides. you were visibly seething now with your face a bright red and your lips curled into a nasty growl.
"the absolute gall of you, sallow!" you hissed out causing sebastian and the new fifth year to flinch at your tone. although your tone held anger, sebastian could hear the hurt that was laced along with it. you stormed towards him until you were foot to foot with him and you grabbed him by his tie to pull his face down to yours. your glaring (e/c) eyes pierced into his very soul.
"how dare you imply that i don't care about anne? yes, she is your sister, but she is my best friend as well! all i've ever wanted was for her to get better!"
with every word sentence that you spoke, you jabbed a finger into his chest. sebastian very well felt that anger and hurt that snaked through your finger and into his chest. however, he was determined to find the scriptorium. as much as it hurt him to do this, he couldn't give up. not now. not ever.
"well, prove it then!" sebastian interjected with a glare. "if you truly cared about anne, then help me convince ominis. you're the only one he will listen to and-"
"ominis will not listen to me," you spat. "you know about ominis' family and his past. do not force me to do this. i will not, especially if it will hurt him."
"but he will listen to you," sebastian reasoned, visibly frustrated at your refusal. "you're the only person ominis cannot say no to! now that you're seeing him, he will surely listen."
"it sounds like you're using us," you drawled, narrowing your eyes at him.
"this is for anne. i need to find a cure before it's too late!"
"what would anne think about all this, sebastian? did you even think to ask yourself this?" you sighed before letting go of his tie and brining your fingers up to your temple. "sebastian, i will not ask ominis. either you convince him yourself or you stop finding a cure for anne."
sebastian's face was red with frustration as he glanced back at the new fifth year, who shook their head. there was a moment of exchange between them before sebastian looked at you with pursed lips. you dared him to say something that will possibly break your tie with him with your eyes.
"i was right about you," sebastian finally spoke, his brown eyes darkening as he glared down at you. "you never cared about anne! that's why you won't do this! something so simply that could help anne and you won't do it. how could you be so selfish?!"
your mouth parted in shock while your heart tightened in your chest. all you could was stare at him with an unreadable expression. it was as if an arrow had pierced through your chest.
"i've heard about enough!" a voice boomed from behind you all and sebastian whipped around to see ominis storming towards them with his wand balled in his hand.
"ominis," you called out and ominis was in front of you in an instant. you grabbed his occupied hand and held it to your chest tightly. your voice sounded small as if you were holding back tears. ominis' blood boiled at the thought of how crestfallen your face might've looked and he immediately let go of your hand to face sebastian. you peered behind his arm to find sebastian glaring at you both, almost in betrayal.
"take back what you said," ominis glowered and sebastian internally winced at how cold his tone was. "we have been friends for too long, sebastian. do not jeopardize this over something so trivial."
"trivial?!" sebastian roared in disbelief. "this is to find a cure for anne. i had no intent in hurting either of you. i just want-"
"we know what you want, sebastian," ominis interjected with a wave of his hand. "but this is not the way to do it. if i had known you would come to (y/n) about this, then i would've accepted your request."
the tension in sebastian's body slowly faded as omini' last sentence sparked a brink of hope. "so you'll do it? you'll show us where the scriptorium is?"
you snap your head up at ominis with a furrowed brow, hoping that he would say no, except there was a moment of silence. dread poured into your veins like a gush of water from a waterfall as you realized that ominis was actually considering it. you even felt yourself becoming sick as ominis let out a frustrated sigh.
"yes, i'll show you-but with a few conditions!" ominis said with a stern voice as sebastian's face lit up in satisfaction.
"of course, anything!" came sebastian quick response and the new fifth year simply watched the scene unfold with uneasy eyes.
"first, you leave (y/n) out of whatever you two are planning." ominis said and you took his hand into yours while gazing up at his solemn face.
"noted," sebastian said with a nod, now feeling like an arsehole as he refused to meet your eyes. "(y/n) will no longer be involved with our plan."
ominis nodded "second, after you find whatever it is you need, you must promise me that you will stop sticking your nose where it shouldn't be. no more dark arts, no more curses. you have to stop, sebastian."
sebastian's eyes widened slightly at ominis' proposition and glanced at the floor uneasily before hesitantly nodded. "alright, i agree to your terms."
"alright, i'll meet you two upstairs, i need to speak with (y/n) for a moment."
sebastian nodded at the fifth year to head on up and turned his head back at you with an apologetic expression. "i'm sorry, (y/n), i let my anger get the best of me. there's nothing i could possibly say to make you forgive me, but you have to understand that-"
"i know," you said coldly as you crossed your arms uncomfortably and looking away. "it's for anne's health, but please stay out of trouble. nothing good will come out of learning about the dark arts."
"this has to work," sebastian mumbled sadly before turning around.
"i'm sorry again, (y/n), i hope you forgive me." was the last thing he said before walking out of the undercroft with his heels echoing through the room.
you sighed sadly, which caused ominis to look down at you with a grim expression. you leaned your forehead against his back with your hand still grasping his as if he'll just fade away.
"ominis, was this really the right decision?" you asked and ominis turned around with your forehead on his chest now. he slowly brought his arms around your waist and kissed the top of your head.
"once sebastian finds what he wants, he will no longer pursue his research." ominis replied into your hair. "this had to be done."
"i wish there was another way," you sighed before pulling away from his chest and leaning upwards to place a kiss on his lips. "promise me you'll be safe. if they tell you to do something uncomfortable, please come back to me."
"i will, (y/n), do not worry to much." ominis replied with a fond smile on his face, yet the dim lights didn't hide the fearful undertone in his voice. "i will come back to you safe and sound. i can promise you that."
you let out a shaky breath before pulling him back into a kiss. ominis returned it just as eagerly, as if it would be the last. both of your bodies seemed to relax a bit as you pulled away.
"i love you, ominis."
"i love you too, (y/n)."
those were the last words that you both had before you watched ominis turn around to leave the undercroft. he left with a heavy heart and you stood there feeling as though half your heart was on his sleeve.

sypnosis: in which sebastian attempts to sneak into the restricted section, but he didn't expect to run into the pretty head girl whilst carrying out his plan.
a/n: ah, thank you so much for the request. i really appreciate it! i hope you enjoy reading this. it was really fun to write.
Tumblr media
sebastian figured that with the amount of times being caught by the librarian, scribner, he'd finally have a full proof plan into the restricted section. now that sebastian knew the ins and outs of the library, he was sure to finally sneak in successfully.
sebastian was right.
with the disillusionment charm, sebastian had managed to get through the pesky head boys and girls in the hallway which the library was in. he crouched past them slowly and as quiet as a feather, his hand twisted the doorknob. with a triumphant smirk, sebastian sneaked into the room with no one on his trail.
sebastian's eyes scanned throughout the dimly lit room, hoping that scribner wouldn't be present. lucky night it was as there was no sign of the blasted librarian in sight. the slytherin then stood up straight, breaking the disillusionment charm.
hm, if i remember correctly, sebastian thought to himself as he stalked over to the librarian's desk. the key should be...aha! sebastian's eyes lit up as he slid open one of the drawers of the desk, revealing the key to the restricted section. sebastian's lips parted as he let out a soft chuckle and held up the key into the light as if he had found hogwart's long lost treasure.
"a beauty you are." sebastian mumbled to the key with a soft whistle following after it.
he looked back toward the door he came from, ensuring that no one was outside before heading toward the restricted section. as sebastian stalked past the various, looming bookshelves, his peripherals picked up on a blurb.
"shit!" sebastian jolted in place as his vision finally made the blurb out to be a person. "what in merlin's name-"
more specifically, you. the head girl of hogwarts stood with her back against the bookshelf and a book in her hands before his eyes. you were still in your school uniform with your tie loosened and a button or two unbuttoned, revealing a bit of your collarbone. sebastian winced as your eyes shifted from the ink on the pages to his alarmed frame. what surprised him the most was the way your lips quirked into a sly smirk.
"well, sallow, not at all surprised to see you here." you mused, closing the book you were reading and sliding it into the bookshelf. you raise a brow as you give him a once over. "a bit late for reading, don't you think?"
sebastian rolled his eyes as he shoved the key into the pocket of his robes. of all the head boys and girls, he just had to be caught by you. you were merciless when it came to punishing students. you wasted no time reporting those who broke the rules. at least, that's what sebastian heard around campus.
"could say the same to you, (l/n)." sebastian quipped, folding his arms across his chest with a fixed frown.
"scribner had to run a few errands," you remark smugly while stalking closer to him and circling around him. "she left me in charge of catching intruders... or rather, you." you say before standing in front of him with an expectant brow.
"quite flattered, darling," sebastian smirked, unfolding his arms to scan his eyes down your smaller frame. "didn't expect such a gorgeous woman to be waiting for me like this. really, i feel honored to have received this treatment."
your smug demeanor shifted into a frown at his words. "i could report you to scribner, you know."
"ah, but will you?" sebastian's tone was challenging, yet teasing and you tilted your head in curiosity.
did he feel no sense of fear? with the amount of times he's been caught, there was bound to be a limit to his attempts. if you reported him now, he'd surely receive more than just detention. you guess his persistence was admirable.
"you're quite smug for someone who is about to be in detention for a week." you stab your finger into his chest before seizing his tie in your fist and pulling him forward. "do you perhaps enjoy the thrill?"
sebastian's eyes widened slightly at your actions and his freckled face flushed at how close your face was to his own. you smirked as you peered at his ears, which were also reddening. he could barely even keep your eye contact. "well, do you enjoy the risk of detention, sallow?" you ask again, causing the boy's eyes to meet with yours once more and you could've sworn you saw the bit of playfulness glimmering in them.
"perhaps i rather enjoy being caught by you, darling," came his response and the corner of your lip twitched. sebastian must've noticed the break in character because his signature smirk graced his lips once again. "i mean, any man would be stupid to not fall short a breathe at the sight of you. you look ravishing tonight."
sebastian leaned his face forward and you could feel his breath on your ear as he whipsered, "well, miss head girl, will you report me?" he asked before pulling away with that stupid, sly grin on his face and you winced internally at how his gravely voice made your heart flutter.
"(y/n), are you still in here, child?"
sebastian snapped his head toward the voice who called out to you, however you quickly slapped your hand over his mouth and pulled him behind the bookshelf by his tie. sebastian was surprised to say the least as he gazed at your furrowed brow and prominent frown. with your other hand, you slid your index finger to your lips, demanding that he stay quiet. with a confused nod, sebastian removed her hand from his mouth and you gestured for him to stay put.
"oh, professor scribner," you called out as you slid out from behind the bookshelf and toward the elder lady with a smile. "sorry, i was reading to pass the time."
the woman smiled softly at you before her eyes darted around the room. "well, were there any intruders tonight?" she asked you and while the woman had her back to you, you glanced at sebastian, who was crouched behind the book shelf.
shit, he was in trouble this time.
"um, no. thankfully, no intruders were here while you were gone."
or not...what on earth were you doing?, sebastian thought as he peeked his head around to glance at you, however you just stood there with an innocent smile. even as scribner looked at you in shock through her glasses that slid down her nose.
"no? hm, sebastian sallow must've given up then." scribner said with a triumphant tone. "well, it's about time! that boy, honestly, i was going to write a note to the headmaster if i caught him snooping around again."
you nodded as you followed her to her desk, listening to her ramble on about sebastian sallow. you found it quite ironic that scribner was saying this all while that same boy was behind the bookshelf in her library. nonetheless, you nodded your head with a smile until scribner let out a gasp as she opened the drawer.
"my word, where is the key?!" the woman exclaimed fearfully as she tore open every drawer of her desk, even rummaging through the many files and papers that were stuffed in some of them.
shit, the key! sebastian fished around his pockets, however his heart fell as he felt nothing. he could've sworn he stuffed it in there after he had ran into you.
"oh, you mean this?" you stuffed your hand into the pocket of your robe before pulling out the key to the restricted section. "sorry, i thought that if i had the key then no one was sure to break into the restricted section." you explained while handing the key back tot he woman who let out a heavy breathe of relief.
meanwhile, sebastian's eyes were wide with shock at your ability to lie. no not only that. when had you stolen the key from him?
"oh, my dear girl, thank you!" scribner exclaimed, before gasping once more. "oh dear me, i forgot to deliver the files that professor weasley asked for!"
"i can watch the library for you while you go!" you quickly offered and the woman let out a sigh of relief again.
"honestly, you are such a sweet girl, (y/n)." the woman gushed, patting you on the head like a child and making her way toward the doors of the library. "i will be right back, my dear. it'll only take a minute."
you nodded with a smile and waved your hand at the woman, who shut the door behind her quickly. as soon as the door shut, your smile dropped and you made your way to the bookshelf that sebastian was hiding behind.
"you can come out now." you said with a smug tone and you watched as sebastian came out into the light. his eyes were swimming with bewilderment as he stared at you in disbelief. "what?"
"y-you lied to professor scribner!" sebastian stammered as he pointed an accusing finger at you. "and when did you take the key? you're a sly one, aren't you? not what i expected at all. why'd you do it? am i-"
you rolled your eyes at his rambling before walking up to him and grabbing his tie. you leaned up to whisper into his ear. "please, sallow, this is the last time i do this for you. don't let me catch you in here past curfew again." your breath caressed his ear gently and even as you pulled away from him, sebastian could feel his ears tingling with warmth.
"you're very interesting, (y/n) (l/n)," sebastian finally uttered after a moment of silence between you two. "i think we'll be seeing each other here often."
your brows immediately wrinkled at his words. had he not heard you? you were going to report him again if you caught him again, so why was he so adamant in coming back once more. "i'm not sure if you're an idiot or what, but did you not hear what i said?" you quipped, stepping back toward the bookshelves.
"well, maybe you just have that effect on me, darling." sebastian replied as he stalked toward you once more. this time, he raised his arm to place a hand on the wooden bookshelf near your head. with a smirk, he leaned down toward your face. "i mean it. i'll be seeing you here again. maybe tomorrow night?"
your lips parted and your eyes couldn't help but shoot down to his lips that were oh so close. sebastian noticed this and drew his lips closer until you could feel his breath on your own lips. "i'm in debt to you, (y/n). i plan on repaying you back." he whispered against your lips and you felt your heartbeat quicken in your chest.
"shove off, sallow," you abruptly push him back with a frown, despite the heat rushing into your face. "if you don't leave, you're sure to be caught by scribner."
"a hero as always, aren't you?" sebastian chirped before taking your hand gently and pressing his lips against yours. "goodnight, (y/n). i'll be seeing you tomorrow."
your mouth gaped open slightly as sebastian turned away and headed toward the door. as soon as you heard the door shut, you slid your back down the bookshelf until you were seated on the floor. that stupid git, you thought as you shook your head with a small smile.
meanwhile, sebastian's heels clicked through the corridors as he made his way toward the slytherin's common room. his face held a smug smirk as he walked, not at all worried about if he got caught at this point. his blasted plan to break into the restricted section was a bust, but he encountered something way more interesting.
sebastian wasn't lying about seeing you again.

[sebastian x fem!reader]
sypnosis: imelda comes up with a scheme to force you and sebastian to confess your feelings for each other.
Tumblr media
garreth paced around the dimly lit broom closet, occasionally looking at the door and then at imelda, who was sat criss crossed on the floor with a smoking cauldron in front of her. he then glanced down at the various parchment paper and opened books sprawled throughout the floor. the slytherin girl didn't look at all troubled as she began pouring ingredients into the pot while her eyes wandered across one of the book's pages.
"are you sure this is going to work?" garreth asked as he scratched the back of his neck. "this could go terribly wrong, you know."
"oh, hush, will you?" imelda quipped, stirring the pot and glaring up at the gryffindor. "if you just follow my lead, then everything will go according to plan."
"how did i even get tied up in all of this?" garreth frowned, crossing his arms. "i only agreed to help you with your plan because you let me copy your transfiguration notes. i didn't think it would be this mad!"
"honestly, you're a gryffindor, why don't you act like it?" imelda scoffed. "and give me the vial over there!"
garreth sighed before kneeling on the floor and passing imelda a vial that was farther away from her. imelda held the empty vial in one hand, while she held a ladle in the other. she carefully began to scoop up the concoction from the cauldron and into the vial. after she was finished, garreth watched in bewilderment as imelda held the vial up with a proud smirk.
"and with this, i won't have to listen to (y/n)'s rants about sallow." she huffed and garreth couldn't help but look at her with an incredulous expression. "what? why are you looking at me like that?" imelda tilted her head in confusion and glared at the gryffindor.
garreth's eyes nearly popped out of his head at her nonchalant attitude. "are you mad?! how do you even know if this will work? if anything, sebastian is going to kill me!"
"that's exactly what we need!" imelda's lips stretched into a sly smirk and garreth felt a shiver go up his spine at the sight. "sallow just needs a push and this is it! if he sees '(y/n)' being cozy with another boy, he's sure to lose it!"
garreth knew that he couldn't escape being imelda's accomplice. not when he had promised her anything in return if she lended him her transfiguration homework.
"so, you know what to do, right?" imelda asked with a raised brow and garreth gulped before hesitantly nodding. "perfect. now keep watch at the door. i don't want anyone knowing we're in here."
garreth let out a heavy sigh and did as imelda said, shuffling toward the door and cracking it open.
"okay, how do i look?" imelda's voice behind him asked and garreth reluctantly turned around to face her.
garreth's eyes nearly bulged out of his head and his jaw dropped at the sight. imelda's polyjuice potion had been a success! there imelda was in front of his eyes, looking exactly like your clone. no, imelda was you. there was no doubt that anyone would be fooled.
"i-it worked!" garreth stammered and imelda crossed her arms over her chest with a proud grin. "you look exactly like her!"
imelda walked over to him and smacked his head. "of course i do, you git! that's how a polyjuice potion works."
garreth rubbed the spot that imelda had stuck him and frowned. he watched as imelda untied her hair, letting the (h/c) tresses fall down her shoulders and ruffling her scalp. garreth looked confused as imelda loosened her tie and unbuttoned a couple of buttons on her dress shirt.
"wait, what are you doing?" garreth averted his eyes to the ground and imelda roll her eyes.
"following the plan."
came her quick response and garreth let out a yelp as her hands found his own tie. "w-wait, what on earth are you doing now?!" he hissed as he felt his tie being undone and imelda didn't respond as her fingers now worked on unbuttoning his dress shirt. garreth stared down in horror as his chest was no exposed.
"okay, finishing touches." imelda mused as she pulled out a stick of lipstick from her robe's pocket. she applied it on her lips before puckerin and glancing up at garreth, who was still trying to process what was going on. "here." the girl swiped a bit of the product on her thumb before smearing it across the corner of garreth's lips and a bit on his collar.
"great. move." imelda pushed him aside and peeked through the door. her (e/c) eyes lit up at the sight of sebastian sallow in the halls, a few meters away from the broom closet that they were in. "alright, weasley, it's time. try not to blow our cover."
garreth was confused, but was quickly stunned as imelda grabbed his hand and rushed out the door.
"play along." imelda whispered to the gryffindor and garreth winced as he looked down at her face-or rather your face. this seemed incredibly wrong. garreth was staring at imelda who was now wearing your face at the moment.
imelda guided garreth's hands to her waist with one hand, while the other rested on his chest. garreth tried his best to play along with her antics, forcing a smile on his face, although garreth figured he actually looked constipated. "is sallow looking?" imelda whispered, leaning up toward garreth's face and he quickly glanced toward sebastian, who was now staring at them with an unreadable expression.
garreth nodded hesitantly and imelda smirked before cupping his jaw. she let out an innocent giggle, acting as though garreth had said something funny. garreth's lips quirked into a nervous smile and his unconsciously eyes met with sebastian's.
if looks could kill, garreth would be dead on the spot. the glare that sebastian pierced into him caused a shiver to run up garreth's spine. sebastian's fists were balled at his side and were slytherins always this intimidating when they were mad? garreth was sure that sebastian was going to walk over at any moment.
imelda noticed garreth's frozen state and tilted her head slightly to view sebastian's reaction. her eyes met with a pair of angry ones. sebastian's brown eyes were darkened menacingly at them before turning around and storming off in the other direction.
"and now we wait." imelda huffed with a smirk as she pulled away from a very stunned garreth. "lucky you, weasley. sallow didn't kill you, now did he?"
garreth said nothing as he looked to where sebastain once stood. if sebastian sallow didn't kill him now, there was no doubt in garreth's mind that he'd do that later.
-
sebastian charged into the undercroft with his fist balled tightly at his side. he was fuming! if anyone could see him now, they'd be able to see the smoke coming from his flushed ears. his brows were wrinkled into a glare, his eyes were dark, and his face was nearly red with anger. even the dimly lit room that he was in could be lit with the rage that he was feeling in his chest.
what did i just witness?, sbeastian thought as he paced around the hard stone floors. you with that garreth? no, his eyes must have been playing tricks on him. there's no way that you'd fancy such a such a daft, idiot like garreth, right?
sebastian knew that he had no right to be angry. especially when he knew that you and him were nothing more than friends. partners in crime that took down trolls and dueled together. all this time, sebastian has pined for you, yet never had the courage to ask you to be his. now someone else has you. the thought made him grit his teeth. he should've asked you a long time ago to be his.
with sebastian's head filled with regrets and doubts, he hadn't heard the entrance of the undercroft open. he certainly didn't notice you and ominis walking into the room, which greatly confused you both as you exchanged confused expressions.
"sebastian?" he heard your voice call out to him from behind and he quickly snapped out of his thoughts as he twisted around. "are you alright? you look red in the face. are you running a fever?"
sebastian said nothing as he stared at you with an unreadable expression. you paid no mind to his silence as you shuffled over to him, drawing close to him to lay your hand on his forehead. he was burning up.
"don't act like you care." sebastian seethed suddenly, pulling away from you and your touch. your expression fell as his cold tone pierced an arrow through your chest. "really, (y/n)? garreth? you can do so much better than that."
"what on earth are you talking about, sebastian?" you uttered, feeling hurt at the sudden cold stare that you were receiving.
"what am i talking about?" sebastian hissed, before abruptly pointing a finger at the exit. "i'm talking about you coming out of the broom closet with garreth fucking weasley a couple minutes ago. looks like you had a great time with him in there."
"sebastian, are you mad?!" ominis quipped, holding his hands out to stop his friend from saying anything else. "(y/n) was with me in the library. we were studying for the upcoming test for potions class."
"i'm not stupid, ominis, i saw her with my own eyes!" sebastian boomed and (y/n)'s brows furrowed her brows in confusion.
why was he acting like this?, you thought before turning around to ominis who was getting irritated by sebastian's behavior.
"ominis, if you don't mind," you say with a bit of assurance in your voice. "i'd like to talk to sebastian alone."
ominis' lips pursed together and you were sure that he was contemplating whether or not to listen to you. sebastian was acting strange and ominis wanted to figure it out as well. nonetheless, ominis agreed after a few minutes of silence. you and sbeastian watched as ominis turned around, letting his wand lead him to the exit of the undercroft.
as soon as you heard the doors shut, you turned to sebastian who was glaring down at the floor. you slowly took a step toward him, making sure that he could see your hands.
"i won't touch you if you don't want me to." you say in a hushed tone and he glanced up at you. this time, his glare softened and you could see his eyes swimming with conflict. "please, sebastian, tell me what is wrong? you're acting strange and i just want to help."
you watched as he turned his head away from you. sebastian could barely look at you without feeling his chest tighten. all he could think about was the way your body pressed into garreth's. the way garreth's arms were wrapped around you waist so tenderly. the way you giggled at something weasley had said as if he had said the most funniest thing in the world. the image of you and garreth coming out of the broom closet, looking so disheveled plagued his mind.
"sebastian?"
merlin, your voice sounded so small in his ears. the soft and caring tone in your voice made him want to take back his actions. sebastian was acting like an arse, yet you still talked to him like he was the most delicate thing in the world. without a word, he looked back at you with a more pained expression, which made your lips pull into a frown.
"what's wrong?" you asked again and sebastian sighed, knowing that he could never escape you. not when you looked at him with a pleading expression. you looked like you could cry at any moment.
"i-it's nothing," sebastian stammered. "i was just overreacting."
"sebastian, you've never acted this way with me before." you pressed, coming closer to him until you were an inch away. you gently grabbed his hand into yours. "you mentioned something about me and garreth. what happened?"
sebastian seemingly looked embarrassed now as he brought his other hand up to scratch the back of his neck and averted his eyes to the ground.
"i saw you and garreth coming out of the broom closet on the fourth floor. you both looked...cozy. listen, if you and weasley are seeing each other, then fine-i mean, i-i'm happy for you if you're happy, but you can do so much better than that-"
sebastian was quickly cut off by your laughter echoing through the room. he was stunned for a moment as you bent over to quell your never ending giggles.
"sebastian, what are you talking about?" you wheezed in between giggles and you squeezed his hand tighter. you took a minute to calm down, however when you did, you gazed up at sebastian with an amused smile. "i was with ominis in the library, so it couldn't have been me. how could i be in two places at once?"
sebastian recalled what ominis had said. you were in the studying with ominis in the library the whole time. he was confused now. could it have been a mistake? did he think it was you? no, you had turned around. sebastian was sure that he saw your face.
"b-but i saw you." sebastian stuttered and you titled your head.
"i promise you, sebastian, i was with ominis since classes ended." you say with a smile and sebastian could see no hint of deceit in your eyes. "and garreth?"
you let out a laugh once again and sebastian's lips quirked into a small smile. your laughter really was contagious. he couldn't help it at all. sebastian could never resist you.
"honestly, garreth is a nice fellow," you say with a hint of teasing. "but i could never have feelings for him. besides, i'm in love with someone else."
sebastian's eyes snapped up to meet yours and you were sure that you saw a flash of hurt in them. you could basically see his shoulders slump in disappointment. it made you stifle a giggle.
"you might know him, he's always the talk of hogwarts." you grin, deciding to play with him a bit. "he's quite a trouble maker, witty, and cunning. a true slytherin, if i do say so myself."
a slytherin?, sebastian thought and was visibly intrigued with you description.
"but, he is also very charming and kind. he knows how to make me laugh and smile when i'm feeling down. he cares for those who are close to him. he'd do anything for them, even if it meant risking his own life. i admire him for that. how could anyone not fall in love with him?"
sebastian's face was glowing with anticipation and you chuckled as you let go of his hand to poke his cheek. "he also gets very jealous easily, but i don't mind. i find it to be quite adorable."
you laugh as you wrap your arms around his midriff and tucked your face into his chest with a knowing smile adorning your lips. you could feel sebastian stiffen against you and you propped your chin up on his chest to gaze up at him.
sebastian's heart felt like it could nearly beat out of his chest at any moment. his eyes seemed dazed, as if he was just waking out of a dream. this had to be a dream, right? you, his longtime crush, was admitting to being in love with him. is that what you meant?
"you...you love me?' sebastian uttered in disbelief and you slowly ran your hands up his back to cup the back of his neck.
"yes, you idiot." you mused with a genuine smile. "i'm in love with you, sebastian sallow. you and only you."
before sebastian knew it, your lips were pressed firmly against his in a gentle kiss. his eye shot open in surprise, but still returned your affection. his arms circled around your waist, pushing your body firmly against his own. sebastian had been waiting for this moment to come. to finally feel your lips against his. to press his body against yours with his arms around you.
to make you his.
"i love you, (y/n)." he said in between kisses and you smiled against his lips before pulling away.
"say it again." you say and sebastian could see excitement filling your features.
"i love you, (y/n) (l/n)," sebastian firmly said, bringing one of his hands up to cup you jaw and rubbing his thumb across your cheek. "merlin, i'll say it as many times as you want. just be mine."
"i am yours, sebastian," you sighed, tilting your head into his palm and gazing up at him so lovingly. "it was always you. nobody has ever made me feel this way."
sebastian couldn't bring himself to say anything as he stared at you. he wanted to memorize every feature of your face as you confessed your feelings for him. he wanted to engrave this moment into his head forever.
"and i am yours, (y/n)."
[Bonus]
you and sebastian walked out of the undercroft with lovesick faces. your clothes seemed wrinkled and disheveled as you exited. all the snogging that you both had done had clearly shown through your clothes and hair. as you both turned the corner of the hall, you heard someone clear their throat.
"ahem!"
you and sebastian pull away all too quickly at the sound of ominis in front of you. you both bashfully looked toward him and although you both knew that he couldn't see you, it still felt like he could sense something going on.
"oh, ominis, we were just..." you trailed off as you noticed imelda and garreth following behind with guilty expressions. "imelda? garreth? what are you two doing here?"
"i believe i've caught the culprits." ominis mused as he held up a vial filled with an unknown liquid. "quite cunning, those two. i don't believe we've learned to make polyjuice yet."
you and sebastian looked at each other with an unreadable expression and the hall was filled with silence. all of a sudden, you two bursted into laughter. perhaps you should thank imelda later. her plan had been a success.
sebastian was yours and you were his.

𝚜𝚕𝚎𝚎𝚙𝚕𝚎𝚜𝚜 𝚗𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚜 | 𝚘𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚒𝚜 𝚐𝚊𝚞𝚗𝚝
[ominis gaunt x fem!slytherin! reader]
sypnosis: ominis gaunt is finding it hard to sleep and so he expected a little bit of reading in the common rooms would put him to sleep. what he didn't expect was running into you.
Tumblr media
ominis gaunt never found it hard to fall asleep. in fact, he could very well sleep anywhere and anytime. however, this night seemed to be different. no matter how many times he twisted and turned in his bed, ominis found himself to be surprisingly restless. with a heavy sigh, he finally sat up from his plush bed to glance at his dorm mates, who were sound asleep in their own beds.
ominis couldn't help but feel jealous of the soft snores that sounded through the room. ominis begrudgingly brought his legs to the side of his bed and carefully swiped around the bedside table for his wand. once he felt for the wooden rod, his hands also grazed for the book he was reading the day before. with his book and wand in his hands, ominis quietly stood up and tip toed to the door, making sure that he didn't disturb anyone's slumber.
with the tip of his wand leading him to the door, ominis closed it behind him silently. his footsteps shuffled through the dark corridors and ominis found himself wandering down to the common rooms, where he was sure no one would be. it was midnight and everyone was surely to be asleep, right?
ominis' wand led him to the couches that were placed in front of the fireplace. judging by the lack of warmth and no signs of the burning wood smell, someone had put it out already.
that is very unfortunate, ominis thought, the winters at hogwarts were always the coldest.
he felt for the arm of the couch, before making himself comfortable on the plush cushions. he gently placed his wand on the wooden coffee table in front of him. ominis then opened his book, making himself comfortable on the couch and hoping that maybe an hour of reading could ease his mind into sleeping.
after 45 minutes of reading, ominis' head snapped up at the sound of the slytherin's common room doors opening. that was odd. usually everyone would be asleep and no one would dare risk a detention (well, maybe sebastian). he heard heels clicking against the stone built stairs and they even pattered toward him. it wasn't until the person let out a sharp gasp that ominis looked toward where it had came from.
"merlin's beard!" you were frozen with your hand over your heart in fright as you looked on to where ominis' dark silhouette lingered.
ominis was innocently plastered against the couch with his pajamas on and his book in his lap. he was also staring at you curiously with his pale eyes with a tilted head. you wondered if he was trying to figure out who was speaking with him at the moment.
"you scared me! what're you doing sitting in the dark like that?! it's cold as well! freezing, actually." you rambled, but you received no response from the boy.
"(y/n) (l/n)?" he finally chirped and you hummed in response. "am i in the dark? i figured the lamps would still be on."
you paused for a moment before letting out a soft laugh. you were caught off guard by his naive words. "are you not cold? here." you fished your wand out of the pocket of your robes, lifting it up to the fireplace. "incendio!"
with that, a fire engulfed the firewood which were placed in the fireplace. ominis' ears picked up on the sound of the firewood crackling and his nose scrunched at the smell of smoke.
"doesn't that feel much better?" you asked with a chuckle and ominis felt the cushion beside him dip, indicating to him that you had plopped down to sit with him. "honestly, ominis, what are you doing at this time of night?"
"i should be asking you the same thing." ominis said with a smile as he looked at you. "(y/n) (l/n), the star student of hogwarts, sneaking out past curfew?"
"i had business to take care of." you said stiffly and ominis could hear the annoyance in your tone. it wasn't aimed toward him. not at him, no of course not. ominis knew that. rather, your tone seemed to have stemmed from the 'business' that you had mentioned.
"business?" ominis asked in curiousity as he closed his book to give you his full attention.
you bit your lip with a sheepish smile. you knew ominis couldn't see your expression, but it always seemed like he could. especially with the way his eyes pierced into your own.
"i got an owl from an anonymous person this morning asking me to meet them in the broom closet on the fifth floor after everyone went to bed." you say with a sigh, leaning your head back against the back of the couch.
"oh?" ominis tilted his head curiously at your words. "did you find out who it was?"
he heard you let out a huff of frustration. "yes and you would not believe who i found in the broom closet, ominis! i was absolutely embarassed!"
"and who was this anonymous person?"ominis piped up and you winced at his amused tone. surely he wasn't enjoying the amount of embarrassment you were feeling, right?
"leander 'stupid, prick' prewett!" you finally groaned, throwing your hands up incredulously and ominis was quite stunned of your description of the gryffindor. "that unbearably, boorish git asked me to the yule ball. all while we are standing in the dark in the broom closet!"
"prewett?" ominis repeated with a bit of a teasing smile and you groaned at his amusement.
"please do not laugh at my embarrassment, ominis. i had half a mind to use levioso on him!" you grumbled, crossing your arms with a fixed frown on your face. "that prick! did he honestly think i'd accept his invitation? after he purposely put the wrong ingredient in my potion and made it explode in front of the class! i got a failing grade for his mistake, you know."
"so you rejected him?" ominis asked after softly chuckling at your exasperated rant and you gaped at him in disbelief.
"of course i rejected him..."you mumbled and ominis could sense a bit of hesitation in your voice. "or rather, i ran like hell out of the broom closet and came straight back here."
ominis' eyes widened and his mouth popped open in surprise at your confession. you watched as he suddenly snapped his head away from you and cupped his mouth, stifling his laughter.
"are you...are you laughing at me?" you asked incredulously with a raised brow. ominis shook his head in response, but you could see his shoulders quivering. "you're lying! you're laughing at me, aren't you?"
ominis finally looked at you, trying to mask the smile that was creeping up on his lips. "how can i not? you're actually a very intriguing person, aren't you, (y/n)?"
ominis had never really talked to you like this. not alone in the common room or anywhere else. you both usually exchanged quick glances and conversations, but never talked. however, sitting here with you made ominis realize that you were just like any other person here. not just the star student of hogwarts. no, you were funnier and down to earth than what ominis thought before.
"did you think i wasn't?" you questioned curiously as you brought your legs up to your chest and wrapped your arms around them. you placed your chin on your knees, titling it a bit to look at him. "people tend to think i'm boring because of how studious i can be. did you think that too?"
ominis' lips pursed in thought, taking in your words. "well, yes, that was what i thought before sitting down and talking to you."
"oh? have your thoughts changed then?" you asked with a bit of amusement in your tone. he remained silent and you glanced up at him to find a solemn expression on his face.
your face began to flush as you stared at him. the light from the fire illuminated one side of his face, while the other was shadowed over. you couldn't help but let your eyes wander across his face. his pale skin that looked smooth, the few moles scattering along his face, and his eyes. merlin, his eyes. those light blue hues that pierced into yours as he stare at you. they were always so beautiful every time you had the chance of looking at them without anyone noticing.
ominis gaunt was the most beautiful person you had ever encountered. you'd even be so bold to say that he was sculpted by some sort of god. ominis always had been handsome.
"yes, my thoughts of you have changed." ominis finally said and you squinted slightly at his ears. they were turning red and the color was slowly creeping along his cheeks. "i mean, i never thought poorly of you, but you're not what i expected-merlin, that sounds terrible. what i meant to say was-"
"no, i get it, ominis." you interjected with a smile and you nudged his arm with your elbow to assure him. "i'm flattered really. no one has really took the time to talk to me. they only see me as a prude, studious person. i'm used to it though-"
"but you're so much more than that." ominis suddenly blurted out and you were taken aback for a moment. "from the very first moment i met you in our first year, i was intrigued by you."
your cheeks flushed once more at how serious he was being. intrigued? what did that mean? your head was running with thoughts and theories with what he could possibly mean by that. it made your heart flutter and your stomach do somersaults.
"ominis..." you mumbled out his name and he abruptly looked down at the book in his lap. with the fire now lighting up his whole face, you could definitely see the red hue on his skin.
"yes, you're incredibly intelligent, which i've always admired," ominis started, twiddling with his hands nervously. "but when you laugh, it's contagious. it sounds so carefree and childish. your laugh never matched the image that the others came up with. you're also very kind and compassionate. always willing to help others who need it. i knew that there was more to you than being the star student of hogwarts and this just confirmed that."
you were stunned. his words made your lips quirk into a genuine smile. ominis' ears perked up at the sound of your soft giggle, which made him turn his head to peer at you beside him.
"you know, ominis, i already knew who i wanted to go to the ball with before leander even asked me." you confessed with a sigh.
ominis was confused as to how the conversation steered towards the ball, however the boy didn't mind. he was now more interested in the lucky lad who you wanted to go to the yule ball with.
"who?"
your smile then turned into a sly one as you gently took his hand into yours and engulfed it into both hands. "i wanted to ask you, ominis. i wanted to ask you to go with me to the yule ball."
"me?!" ominis' mouth parted in shock. he didn't know if it was from your confession or from your sudden contact with him. either way, his face felt even warmer than before. "why would you want to ask me?"
"i've always had an interest in you, ominis gaunt," you sheepsihly smiled. "i just didn't think you'd notice me. i've been pining over you since our first year in hogwarts and i only had the courage to finally tell you just now."
ominis recalled the quick glances you would both exchange with each other whether it was in the hallways, the classroom, or even when you both were talking with your friends. the unspoken feelings that you both held for each other; it had always been there. it made ominis chuckle as he brought his hand to cup both of yours that held his other hand.
"well, (y/n) (l/n), will you do me the honor of being my date to the yule ball?" ominis asked, bringing one of your hands up and pressing a chaste kiss upon it.
you bashfully smiled as you felt his lips morph into a smirk against your hand. "yes, ominis, i happily accept your invitation!" you reply with a toothy grin, before drawing closer to him. you were now kneeling on the couch's cushions, leaning your face over to his.
ominis' eyes widened in shock as he felt your soft lips against his own, however he didn't hesitate in reciprocating it back. he was in utter bliss at the moment. while it was his first kiss, your movements made it very easy to follow. he felt your hands run up his arms and toward his jaw, cupping it gently into your palms. ominis wasn't quite sure where to place his hands, but you didn't mind.
"wait," ominis said in between kisses and you pulled back for a breath, gazing at him lovingly. "does this mean...we're...you know?"
"yes, ominis, we're a couple." you laughed, leaning your forehead against his.
that was all the confirmation that ominis needed, as he placed a quick peck on your lips. he then grabbed you hands as he leaned his back against the cushions, leading you to lay your head on his chest. you happily followed tucking your face into his neck with a soft smile on your face.
"i love you, ominis gaunt."
"and i love you, (y/n) (l/n)."
that night, ominis fell asleep with you on his chest and both your legs tangled together. imagine the shocked faces of your housemates when they awoke to the sight. not that ominis cared.
it was the best sleep of his life.
