Uther Pendragon, the conqueror, died leaving only a daughter to succeed him. And thus the young Queen Guenevere ascended to the throne. Uther Pendragon was a warlike king, and his daughter took after him in spirit, though she was not trained to lead the charge as a son would have been.
In those days, even a warlike queen—and perhaps especially a warlike one—was regarded with mistrust, and no sooner had the King’s body been laid to rest, then there was a cry for the new Queen to find a husband. But with the fearsome pride of her father, Queen Guenevere refused to surrender herself to any noble lord or prince—and perhaps wisely so, for favoring one house would mean making an enemy of all the rest.
At last, Merlyn, the renowned sorcerer, proposed a solution: an enchanted sword embedded in a stone, and who-so-ever proved himself worthy by successfully pulling it free would have the Queen to wed. The Queen called a great tournament, which drew every knight in the land to fight and to test the sword in the stone. Among them was the newly knighted Sir Kay, and with the young Sir Kay came his squire, Arthur.

I've pondered some possibilities, but unfortunately nothing that quite forms a cohesive whole:
The repressed Dr. Jekyll (and to a lesser extent his friends) is a prime candidate for seduction by Count Dracula (but ??? how Hyde fits in...)
Victor Frankenstein could be a former student of Dr. Van Helsing, maybe he goes to his old teacher when everything goes awry, drawing the vampire hunting squad into it
Dorian Gray would make a pretty excellent vampire, though I'm not sure how that would tie into the portrait, but maybe it could lead to some kind of mystery about how/why he's changed?
Victor Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll could bond over some mad science, maybe Frankenstein would be inspired to try to use Jekyll's serum to "fix" things making everything worse
Lord Henry is just the kind of person to inadvertently encourage Dr. Jekyll in all the wrong directions with his incoherent philosophizing
Basil Hayward, Dr. Seward, Victor Frankenstein, and Gabriel Utterson are all pretty awkward, I bet they'd get along well
I love the idea of a transfem Victor(ia) Frankenstein bonding with Mina and Lucy
Tumblr media
The impulse to do a crossover of all the Victorian horror novels is a strong one, and I got to wondering how they might intersect...

The little boy kneeled down to kiss his master's hand—his surcoat, with the Malory bearings, looking absurdly new.
Thomas Malory... the author of Le Morte d'Arthur... I see what you did there

That's right. Now give me a hand each, both of you, and I shall sit between you like this. There. My Queen and my Lance
Arthur is so dear with both of them <3

The King put his hand on Lancelot's knee and squeezed it affectionately. "Some people might say that you are the dear," he said.
After the whole long to do of Lancelot and Guenevere (and a 20-year timeskip), we're finally back to Arthur!

[It was] hardest of all to have broken his body for the older man's ideal, only to find this mincing wife stepping in at the end of it to snatch away his love at no cost at all. Lancelot was jealous of Guenever, and he was ashamed of himself for being so.
And here I thought it was being feudal and poetic, but no, Lancelot is canonically romantically in love with King Arthur!

He had already fallen in love with Arthur on the night of the wedding feast, and he carried with him in his heart to France the picture of that bright northern king, at supper, flushed and glorious from his wars.
But wait, there's more!

Lancelot, swinging his dumb-bells fiercely and making his wordless noise, had been thinking of King Arthur with all his might. He was in love with him.
Well that was fast! (not that I'm complaining...)

What's this!? The Doctor has changed into someone else?? I can only imagine what audiences thought was going on when the First Doctor regenerated, but for me this bittersweet end of an era means it's time for the long-awaited ranking of my favorite companions!
Vicki - A girl from the distant future with a sense of adventure to match the Doctor's
Barbara - A teacher from the present day (1963), never confrontational, but secretly the only competent one
Ian - He tries... he runs into danger and always has the worst hiding spots, but he means well and his relationship with Barbara is surprisingly sweet
Dodo - A girl from the present day (1965) with the best fashion sense and unfailing humor, shame she didn't get to do much
Susan - The Doctor's granddaughter, which is fascinating in itself, if only they'd explored it more, she absolutely deserves revenge for being abandoned on a post-Dalek Invasion Earth
Ben - A young sailor from the present day (1966), with a quick wit, and always ready for action, he's surprisingly fun if a bit obnoxious
Polly - She's fun and clever and so far hasn't been able to do more than get kidnapped and be afraid, sadly
Steven - An astronaut from the distant future who spent the past several years in captivity with only a stuffed panda for company, all of which was quickly forgotten in favor of being either aggressive or condescending or both
