Pairing: Bucky x Reader

Prompt: Making s’mores on a bonfire with character

Summary: both you and Bucky needed a break from your duties and go camping, making s’mores and cuddling under the stars

Warnings: fluff :)

“Look at the stars, Buck. Aren’t they beautiful?” Your eyes glistened under the twinkling stars, the fire in front of you lit up every feature he loved about you. The heat keeping you warm and saving you from death that would otherwise be a bitter cold night.

“So beautiful.” Bucky whispered, not taking his eyes off you as the words fell so easily from his lips.

Glancing his way, his eyes never left yours. A secret conversation with your eyes. The orange flames reflecting his usual baby blues.

Bucky was the first to look away, not because he wanted to, but because an inhale of smoke from the fire burned his nostrils and when he looked, the s’mores were burnt.

“Oh my god!” You panicked, letting go of the sticks.

“Shit!” He cursed, blowing at the cremated marshmallow. Saving it was out of the question now.

“Well, good we brought more!” Your laugh so contagious that Bucky can’t help himself but to join in, a small but deep chuckle leaving his lips.

It was a long, long time since Bucky last made s’mores, this was like a whole new experience for him and he would of course be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy it because he absolutely did. Anything and everything he did with you, he loved and cherished it like tomorrow wasn’t promised. He lived in the moment, taking photos with his mind.

It was also his first time camping in a tent, a small tent to be exact. A small worry on the way to the forest if he would fit inside of it, you quickly eased his worries after your first night by snuggling up to him, using his body as a heater.

You were so proud of him. Bucky has already achieved such great things, once a broken man in desperate need to turn his life around. In time, he did. He’s a good person and you make it a point to remind him of that every single day.

“S’more like it.” He jokes. “Here you go, doll. Just be careful, it’ll be hot.” He chuckles again, handing you the sweet treat. Blinking your thoughts away, you accept it with a smile, quietly thanking him.

“I love this.” Your voice above a whisper, gently blowing on the marshmallow to cool it down. “Just you and me. We should do this more often.”

“It’s the best!” He chimed with a tight lipped smile. “We should eat these delicious treats and cuddle under the stars.” He suggests, removing his own s’more just before he burns it, again.

“I’d love that.”

And I love you. The words he longs to tells you, but is too afraid of scaring you away.
