What So Not Brings Bangers to the Foundry, Wet Republic Opens for Pool Season - http://www.vip-unltd.com/what-so-not-brings-bangers-to-the-foundry-wet-republic-opens-for-pool-season/

What So Not Brings Bangers to the Foundry, Wet Republic Opens for Pool Season
It’s been about a month; by now, you should have digested Kanye West’s highly anticipated seventh album, The Life of Pablo. West has described the album as a “gospel record” and, while the subject matter strays away from all things heavenly, it does feature beautiful strings and airy, harmonized vocals on several tracks. Even if you haven’t heard the seminal work, we’re sure you’ve seen the social media storm surrounding the release of the album and his supplementary clothing line, Yeezy Season 3. West sneakily teased pieces from his Adidas Yeezy Season clothing line and announced many name changes to the album several hours leading up to its release. He finally debuted the two simultaneously at Madison Square Garden on February 11. The guy’s living an incredibly stressful, yet fruitful life. Just ask the Chainsmokers, whose song aptly titled “Kanye” is a testament to the Chicago producer/rapper/designer’s superior, uncompromising attitude toward his art. The electro house tag-team is sure to drop it at Hakkasan, where you can voice your admiration for the self-proclaimed “God,” and dance to other hits including the melodic “Roses,” (In MGM Grand, 10:30 p.m., HakkasanLV.com.)
FRI 11
“It’s a Trap!” Hold the Star Wars and head to the Foundry, because Australian basshead What So Not will be there. He’s best known for his rambunctious trap banger “Jaguar,” which features an anonymous woman screaming“Jaguar trap!” before the tune kicks into bumpin’ melodic trap. Since its 2014 release, the song has racked up 12.7 million views on SoundCloud. It’s sort of a more frightening, less nerdy version of the Sci Fi series’ hilarious tagline. See how it sounds in the mix tonight. While you’re there, don’t miss supporting sets by Hunter Siegel (see our interview here) and Venessa Michaels. This is one trap we wouldn’t mind getting stuck in. (In SLS, 7 p.m., FoundryLV.com.)
Sat 12
The freaks come out at night, right? Well, so do the animals. Disclosure’s Wild Life residency at Light comes back to life with a stacked set. Aside from crafting tunes that bridge the gap between house and pop, the brothers Lawrence are known for their eclectic tastemaking abilities. That can be seen in the booking tonight, which features a stacked bill consisting of Seth Troxler and Tiga. You might catch a new favorite. (In Mandalay Bay, 10:30 p.m., TheLightVegas.com.)
SUN 13
In case you haven’t noticed, temperatures are heating up, which means pool-party season will soon be in full bloom. Celebrate the premature temperature increase by dressing down and partying at Wet Republic. MGM’s pool club caps off its opening weekend with a DJ two-fer that consists of sets by local spinner Jeff Retro and British radio host/DJ/producer Mark Eteson. The latter calls himself a secret agent, which we could totally believe since he moved to Las Vegas in fall 2013 after he landed a residency with Hakkasan Group. Anyways, we think the abrasive bounce of “The Gathering” might complement a secret data compromise scheme or a high-action foot race across Strip rooftops. We’re not trying to give our dear readers any bad ideas, but maybe you can beat Jason Bourne in getting some white-knuckle car-chase action on the Strip. Skrrt! (At MGM Grand, 11 a.m., WetRepublic.com.)
MON 14
Mad Decent bass-mongers Slander released its latest single, “Breathe” (featuring Matthew Steeper and Haliene), in late January, and already it’s surged to the top of our “must-listen” summer playlist. The trap-inspired tune features angelic vocals courtesy of Haliene, a bludgeoning trap climax and a huge, melodic synth lead. It’ll go swimmingly with the warmer weather we’re experiencing. Hear it tonight, along with other “heaven trap” songs including “Love Again” and “Gud Vibrations” at XS. (In Encore, 10 p.m., XSLasVegas.com.)

New Post has been published on http://www.vip-unltd.com/2015/10/08/hakkasan-group-is-out-of-light-and-so-is-cirque-du-soleil/
Hakkasan Group ends management of Light Nightclub
In one fell swoop, Cirque has shed its ownership interest in Light and Daylight at Mandalay Bay, while Hakkasan Group also has ended its management agreement to operate the entertainment venues on the Strip.
Hakkasan, the preeminent nightclub company in Las Vegas, had previously been working in an operations agreement with Cirque at Light and Daylight. No more. The company issued a statement Tuesday afternoon announcing that it was finished running both clubs:
“Hakkasan Group and the ownership group of Light and Daylight at Mandalay Bay have mutually agreed to terminate their management agreement for both venues, as well as end all litigation between the two parties. Both Hakkasan Group and ownership wish each other well in the future.”
In June, the company MB BC Limited, a consortium of investors under the Cirque umbrella, sued Hakkasan. The group claimed that Hakkasan Group and CEO Neil Moffitt had gained a monopoly of Las Vegas nightclubs and had been diverting customers away from Light and Daylight (which, again, it was actually operating) and also had been luring DJs and promoters to work at Hakkasan clubs.
That litigation has now been settled.
Amid all this activity is the role Cirque had been playing as owner of the Mandalay Bay clubs. Word seeped out of the company in late August that Cirque had been bought out of its controlling interest in Light and Daylight by business partner The Yucaipa Companies (which, oddly enough, means that Light and Daylight are now owned by the same company who owns the Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market chain).
The fallout of the change in operations at Light has already been felt: The chief reason the highly regarded rock musical “For the Record: Baz” moved out of Light was because of the ownership change at the club; “Baz” was staged in Light specifically because it was a Cirque Theatrical production in a Cirque-owned club.
Not anymore.
Why would Cirque shed its nightclub interests? It’s a relatively slim profit margin for the amount of work and organization required to effectively operate a nightclub on the Strip, and it is a highly competitive, often cutthroat business.
TPG Capital, which purchased controlling interest in Cirque in April, is said to have no interest in nightclub ownership. Today, Cirque officially announced that it is out of the nightclub business with a statement issued from its headquarters in Montreal:
“Cirque du Soleil is now completely focused on its existing live entertainment/shows and creating new live shows. We have decided to pull out of all hospitality projects to ensure that we stay focused on that objective. We therefore have no more business and creative links to Light and Daylight.
“We have concluded a very amicable agreement with Yucaipa. … Our priorities and initiatives in Las Vegas are targeted at focusing our marketing initiatives and priorities to reach more specific segments such as Millennials and other groups.”
Expect, then, a major rebranding of Light and Daylight in coming months. What remains unknown is if Cirque’s divestment in nightlife entertainment might stray elsewhere. The company has been a partner in the Rock in Rio USA event, which returns in May 2017.
If the event is to return, as expected, would Cirque still be willing to help stage a festival that lost tens of millions of dollars while trying to gain traction in its first year in the U.S.?
And what of the little musical left without a home? For the Record has been trying to find a venue for “Baz,” but if that theater/showroom/nightclub is not an MGM Resorts property — and the likely scenario is for a non-MGM Resorts home for the show — Cirque will end its partnership.
What remains obvious is that Cirque’s grand designs on operating a cool nightspot with the assistance of the city’s largest nightclub operator have reached last call. The party is over.

New Post has been published on http://www.vip-unltd.com/vegas-nightclubs-top-the-list-of-highest-grossing-nightlife-venues-in-the-u-s/
Vegas nightclubs top the list of highest grossing nightlife venues in the U.S. with over $550 million in revenue
Vegas nightclubs have once again topped the list of highest grossing nightlife venues in the U.S.
Click here to view original web page at www.forbes.com
Those that visit nightclubs on a regular basis knows that between cover charges, table reservations, and drinks (and drinks and drinks), the costs associated with going out can add up quickly, and that means big business for clubs and venues. According to Nightclub.com, the top ten clubs in the United States earned upwards of $550 million in revenue last year alone. Each club has a range (since securing the exact number isn’t possible) of what they earned in 2014, and even if only the lower end of all ten ranges are combined, it still shows the American clubbing world to be worth over half a billion dollars—a new high for the industry.
Topping the ranking are two of the biggest clubs to have ever existed, XS and Hakkasan, both of which are in casinos in Las Vegas. In fact, seven of the top ten clubs are in Las Vegas, with only New York City and Miami also making an appearance in the top tier.
The club in the number one spot, XS is not for the faint of heart or those afraid to drop a pretty penny on a night out. A good table will cost you $10,000, and the venue even has a cocktail that will run you another $10,000. A source close to the club told Forbes that there are a few high rollers that aren’t turned off by the excessive price tags, and some of them will even order a round of those drinks for friends, not worrying about spending what some people make in a year on a few drinks. In 2014, XS brought in up to $105 million in revenue.
For the first time ever, the top two clubs passed the $100 million mark in revenue, showing that if done right, there is serious money to be made in the nightlife scene. When the number of clubs is expanded to the top 100 across the US, the total amount of money brought in grows to over $1.36 billion.
All ten clubs (and surely many others on the top 100 list) owe their success to the popularity of electronic dance music. There are regular venues on the ranking (such as New York City’s Webster Hall), but the vast majority are known for bringing in top notch DJs, with the biggest securing residencies with electronic cash kings like Calvin Harris, Skrillex, and Diplo.
Here are the top ten clubs in America, with an estimation of their 2014 earnings (numbers reported are the upper end of the range given):
1. XS, Las Vegas, $105 million
2. Hakkasan, Las Vegas, $103 million
3. Marquee Nightclub, Las Vegas, $85 million
4. TAO Las Vegas, Las Vegas, $55 million
5. LIV, Miami Beach, $45 million
6. Surrender Nightclub, Las Vegas, $45 million
7. LAVO New York, New York City, $35 million
8. Story, Miami Beach, $30 million
8. Story, Miami Beach, $30 million
10. LAVO Las Vegas, Las Vegas, $25 million
