i really hate what certain comics have tried to portray their relationship as. he believes rose is, honestly, much stronger than him.

he loves her, he loves all of his children but rose specifically is very special to him. she's another chance of fatherhood, one that he failed, but hey at least he uh. Kind of tried.

i also have a scorching take that she's his favorite and i could talk about why for hours. sorry, joey.

also he would never fucking turn his back on her to look towards his sons for a "real heir". he knows damn well she is more than capable enough and would give her the title before he ever even thought about giving it to grant or joey.
