I love that people are getting pissed about a fictional character. Like, really? You seriously don't have anything more important to be mad at? Maybe I'm too old to give two flying fucks. Seriously, I don't do art for anyone but myself. It's a shame people try to place their own restrictions on art. I don't care about likes or social bullshit. I would never, as a fellow artist, tell someone how to create art, whether it is literature, paintings, fashion, etc. You want an Asian Jesus? Go for it! You want a African American Santa? I'm all for it! You want to draw a Caucasian Satan? Yep! You want to make Spiderman Black, the Black Pather White, Wonder Woman a Yellow Tans Person? Go artist go! I will NEVER PUT RESTRICTIONS ON ARTISTRY.

you dont like reading you despise reading thats why youre constantly shitting on the classics and ‘literary’ fiction because when confronted with these profound works of art you become uncomfortably aware of how narrow your own world view is, how shallow the depths of your emotion. you want books you can squee about with other people like you and you want porn that fills your bookshelf and makes you seem quirky and well-read and intelligent even though you can’t read any fiction of a high standard bc the big words make ur head hurt. you want collectors items you want badges that signify your acceptance into the soulless echo chamber of booktok. you believe books should only ever make you feel turned on or compelled to write a viral tweet and when people challenge this way of reading even slightly you lash out bc you are incredibly insecure and deep down are keenly aware of how performative your entire way of being has become. same music same books same clothes as everyone on your fyp and you dont *like* any of it not really you like fitting in you like being a part of the ingroup and live in absolute terror of being othered in any way. its fine tho the first step of getting out of this cycle is learning to love ‘ugly’ people and reading some ursula le guin

Bless monopoly-driven pop culture homogenization for making snobbery more accessible than ever. 20 years ago “i don’t like superhero movies” wouldn’t have gotten you a second look but now it immediately turns you into the most insufferable arthouse film bitch in the room.

Cherry Soda is an in-progress interactive fiction novel about loss, relationships, and the meaning of destiny.
As children, an accident between you and your friend Ryan changed the course of your life forever. Since then, you have transversed the boundary of life and death: your waking moments are haunted by memories of the living and the remnants of the deceased.
The two of you diverged; Ryan began attending elite private academy, and you summarily moved across the country. A phone call years later between the two of ends with you promising to come visit her, a throwaway sentence you thought to be nothing more than a platitude.
Following six months of radio silence, you sense her death before the search team even finds her body. And suddenly, the phone call may have been part of something a lot larger.
Swept up in a whirlwind of the horrific inheritance she left behind for you to uncover, the more you investigate, the deeper the lies and secrets go. A reckless desperation to break the fate that threatened to overtake the both of you had led Ryan down a path of no return. The same path you now find yourself on.

The OBSESSION with identity is so crazy like the view that when you do something it immediately becomes part of your identity and all the parts of you have to click together to become “person who wakes up early” or “person who reads” no you can literally just do something without restructuring your whole performance of personhood around it. I don’t know what to tell you except that you will never be able to have an entirely unfractured view of yourself or that you will be able to rationalize all the complex parts of yourself into the phrase “person who x” like you should just be doing things without performing them. Or aestheticizing them. Just try different things on and keep what works for you. Otherwise you will never learn and grow!
