So long 2021...

Many people are making their very "New Year, New Me" and 2022 Please be good to me" essay entries right before 8pm deadline. Many people did but it turns out that the year are more harsh and hurtful for them, not because of the pandemic but it cause from anyone else too.

As I end this personal writing blog this 2021 before it hits the 8pm deadline, I have this list of not so (to do and not to do list) but realization of events and struggles recently this year.

Starting last 2020 I didn't give a sentimental blog about those things that important to me, Plans for life, Jobs, lovelife and even my purpose of life that I lost in 2020 due of pandemic and incompetencies from the government leaders. I lost myself that time, I don't know how to live, I didn't seeing myself in the future, I was so down at that moment, seeing my friends and colleagues mourning while they're family members passed away from the virus and their businesses went down to close, Injustices are getting wild, and losing self esteem, I don't know how to get up. Finally that year end already and I'm still thinking about all of that miserable moments it will holds me back to go on during 2021 has arrived.

Finally, my mind has been back to reality that you have no choice but to live on. Start to pick myself up and start building even this 2021 initiates to bringing back to normal, well many unnecessary lockdown gets in the way. That time, I realize that importance of every people especially from the marginalized people, I finally understand those things that most of my colleagues fighting for, voicing out from the road and even from social media platforms. I understand the sentiments and struggles from class E even before I experience it for couple of days, as a volunteer for community pantry along Manila, not just I saw and I hear from them, but to feel and live with them, I am one of them who fighting for the betterment of the people particularly from those oppressed. Doing what is right no matter what it cost you is essential whatever the circumstances stands in your way, don't stop fight for it. Until I meet my colleagues and I say a new family and associate for our building business, film, studio, cafe, and so much more. I start to believe myself and start to pick for a job opportunities online and outside even this pandemic. But it's not going easy to hold on all your driven energy especially that they are still people drag you down.

As for my loses, certainly rejection from more than hundred job applications for last five months and almost thousand of pending applications and unresponsive companies that it seems has the problem of qualifications or vacancies of it. Starting lose hope, I'm tired but not quitting, well it's just I don't have a choice. Everyone doubting me to excell but I won't stop to search, I keep trying until I got one in the future. This is what dreamers do. And it seems that who you supporting presidential candidate, well I lost most of my relatives, became my enemies at sight until my siblings too, a family distortion at it's finest. I just chose myself more than a family legacy and tradition. I have a heart of GenZ even for a later GenX or GenY millennial so many people feels me a younger because I chose what make you happy without minding stressful things around me. Yes, I lost all of them, but you know what, who cares. Who wants to be with the bunch of person who always judge others because of disagreement. I learned alot of their attitude and nature, cognitive dissonance at it's finest, they cannot accept change, these people are stuck, it never getting better for more long years, stuck in 70's to 80's life? Nah. I think that it's time to grow up and pick something new and be the best of myself. I do alot of things to love myself and I keep doing it more this 2022. I stand for what I build for. It's too late it won't go back the way we was before, people change.

There are many things that I live with and some of them are still there, uncertain and it has to figure it out. But there are many things that I left behind and that was including to this list.

Two weeks ago, I realize that there was a problem with me that I need to let go, since those bad moments that I sink in, now it's certain and I do my best to overcome all my problems:

Procrastination.

There are more portfolios from both writing blogs to photo journals are still didn't compile and post just as two weeks ago, due to stress, I need to working this out, to surpass this struggle, to energize all activities. I need it so bad.

Overthinking

This problem is not easy to solve, in my instinct of planning and think more possibilities, I didn't see the picture of myself way ahead of this plans, normally it triggers me to think negative vibes, my past issues that already resolved, I also try my best to overcome this issue, I know it's hard to do but I have to try. Focus of all ongoing activities, I need this too.

Hesitation.

Most of the time, I doubt for myself losing motivation for doing this thing, uncertain for a single plan, thinking of what ifs scenario(s) and my plans fails because I didn't strong enough to hold to a plan. Now I need to be focus and have some faith in all of my works as about to build myself back.

Emotional.

From social media to actual conversation, to be honest this is so wrong. I have a good friend says that it's all from your emotion so that you say harsh words even a friend who just wronged you, my dearest friend thought me that forgiveness is a must. Need to control this. Subdue this feeling so that I can't hurt others even it's not meant for them. And lastly...

Enforced to Agree.

Even the fact that I didn't actually force anyone, I felt that I force them anyway. I dunno just from my thoughts? Became intentions? Let my friends say so. Now I realize that this is wrong, this is ugly that you become of them, a manipulative sadboi. I try to remove that thought from my head, never force anything to anyone, relationships, conversations, plans that beyond your control. Let things flow as it is.

To be honest with you, I'm still in healing stage from my minor depression and anxiety disorder based on what's going on to my life, but I try to be the best for myself so that I can be the best of my true friends or new family, the process is still not easy without any meds and therapy that kills my life savings here. Also having a drug allergy kills me since this vaccination requires me to intake, now I can say it's about time to work on for myself since I was on my own now.

This is what I'm going to do...

Pack up your things as always.

All of my clothes, hygiene kits and gadgets is on my bag, ready to carry all the time. I always remember that no one owns me, I'm not belongs to anybody including your family or friends, ever since that I was a student until now, I'm nobody to anyone, whatever you pleased them, they failed you. So I'm ready to go whatever life brings me, it will be fine than this stuck life, I can't live that kind of life anymore. Whatever it goes, it goes. I need to grow so I must ready to leave the past life .

If some of you know this lyrics of this song, this is very me. I keep building myself back or something new without involving anyone for me.

Keep fighting what you stand for.

Whatever they offer something short incase of disproving what you believe with, say no. Don't settle for anything less, Always choose what's best for you without minding the world's standards, always choose what makes you happy, always choose your inner peace. That's all matters of life.

Pick your fight that you can finish

If people disagrees in what your stand, let them be. Don't bother to educate to enlighten them repeatedly even they has an imbecile mindsets, it's not worth of saving, let their struggles teach them well.

Always choose your peace while battling life and this system. And lastly...

Build Self Esteem,

Self Love more,

Self Appreciation, and

Self Perservatiion.

Poverty Porn: The process and dangers of this community

Have you ever seen those people whose love to help the needy? And even those who out of luck?

My name is Paul Wayne and were here to make a statement and some points about to many big personalities here for engaging other people, well, let's say it "the poor" or marginalized people... for their own sake. So we ask...

What is POVERTY PORN?

As we've known that pornography most of us means objectifying women as sexual icon in the use of any advertising media materials such as writen, photography, videography and such, this is the brand of development porn, stereotype porn which to exploits the poor situations of people or the community to simply operates the necessary sympathy from readers, viewers to sold their stories in big time. I know so many people and alot of people have a burning heart for helping the poor which is the market consumers of this "poverty porn content" stories but also they didn't aware that this is too much. This is really bothering when it comes for objectification and exploitation of any human beings through media and advertisement especially when simplify people down to the.characteristics and their life situations, like example is lacking of resources and daily needs in that moment, some influence people gave it to them for a reason or their agenda. Many people especially traditional politicians or influencer(s) like well known actors, et al are still doing this all over again.

This example of an appointed secretary from this administration and a son of a highest earning business tycoon has the appropriate issue of poverty porn, in this advertisement, he and his dad uses children to make this video ad that glimpse for his senatorial voting bet for 2022 elections. This is terrible if this children's parents is the target market of his ad for their votes, why the heck the children doing in this ad? Are these children can vote? Obcourse not! The traditional politician style is still functioning even that most of the filipinos has seen the reality of today's society thanks to the organization of fighters for freedom or "wokes" patriots who keep voicing for the people especially to class E or " nasa laylayan ng lipunan" we can understand now that this kind of ad is ridiculous and it's very wrong in many ways. This is because we all search and know these personalities who has done more suspicious when they became richer and more famous, like example of a family of this business tycoon that becoming billionaire because of their subordinates (overworked but underpaid) and employees that they didn't give their salaries unproperly and fairly. And the worst that these "poor people" that they ridiculed and belittled every single day.

We don't need to fall of this kind of "helping" with the glimpse of their agendas or profitable needs and pleasures but the ends, it will not helping these people at all.

To be honest with you, the whole system of this society is the problem, Philippines has already ruled by the Commercial Capitalism that overrun to all economical and justice system concerns also to our environment and part of human's everyday routines, as long as can be monetize things, they take it as an advantage against others, so that's why oligarchs became richer and all their marginalized subordinates and outsiders became poorer and miserable. There alot of people seeing this before initiate to voice out this same problem that already remarks on Philippine history from colonial period to commercial capital era, until they stand against this system and everyone called them "activists" but they only intent to do is to show us the true situation that the commercial capital system ruined everything in this country. This is important facts that we about to know about this system and unfortunately more privileged people keep antagonize them as rebel groups.

This previous example (above) is already Poverty Porn form of Agenda Setting, to exploit people's poorer situation to earn attention and sympathies from the public to assure it support when the time when these crooks want to take, but it has another form that relate to this issue done with the same crooks...

Poverty Porn with the form of Virtue Signal.

This particular term means to proclaim individual cognitive mindsets (including moral standards and beliefs) in any public settings so that people know your stand in a specific situation, or to prove that how they good or better than anyone else without any intent to fix the real problem.

Usually seen this form of virtue signal from those traditional politicians whose doing this during election times or some serious or tragic events particularly from those gone viral issues before and continuously doing it today, finding an opportunity to justify of what they was done is still good. To cover up their past mistakes is to doing good to others and mostly to those in marginalized sectors of this society. And then to exploit people's situation, lack of resources or some sort, they are the one who responsible of what happened to these people they "helped" for an agenda and to clear their reputation as a crook politician, and that was Poverty Porn and Virtue Signal works for them.

Virtue Signal is not only applicable for Traditional Politicians (TRAPO) but also for any individual or groups of people, specifically for artists and influencer(s) from social media. The best example is this famous socmed influencer today with a million followers who did a breakfast mukbang and YouTube diamond play button unboxing with her family and doing a typical household chores with matching exploit her body as her finest video contents, this latest issue of her which is street prank that she dressed as beggar and try to help a ricecake vendor on street alley. But it turns that the vendor are the one who helped her instead even that she intends to reach help for that vendor of the street, I dunno, because she's a beggar and she didn't know the differences of their stand between her and the vendor even she know that both are poor? Duh! If she really understand the struggle of class E people, then live with them atleast 5 days, it will be enough and not that a moment after you filmed it and go back to your comfy life. That was not kind of help literally and what happens is that she's about to criticized by some for promoting and violating anti-mendicancy law of 1978 and after she learned about it? What happened is she didn't even admit she's wrong and trying to silent all who criticize and call out her from the issue, she didn't intent to solve the problem itself due from that warning instead she empower to normalize the unlawful "helping" that she believes. That's the act of Virtue Signal.

And many of YouTube creators and vloggers doing poverty porn in their different agendas, for views and profits and for popularity obcourse for ads recommendations and so much more regards of what they was done wrong before until right now. And lastly...

Poverty Porn with the form of PinoyBaiting.

According to M.A. Buendia's definition tweet for Pinoy Baiting (01/05/20) says there it was the marketing strategy used by creators (particularly foreign video creators) to attract Filipino audiences and followers. Many of this foreign vloggers put some metaphors and hyperbole reaction videos into our very own media artists, natural places and lifestyles involving Philippines in their plotline. It's very effective indeed because of something from Filipinos, thirst for global validation all the way. "So sad."

Many filipino disagrees on this point and says:

"There's nothing wrong about it, to features of what's good in us anyway."

"They helping us by exploiting the reality of people and this society."

"Respect and be respected."

I'm sorry for bursting your bubble there but It won't helping Filipinos but to themselves instead. This is a dose of example...

According to an Australian Doctor and a YouTube creator Adam Smith who advocates against medical misinformation particularly in the Philippines calls out another vlogger (YT) Basel Manadil or people knows him as The Hungry Syrian Wanderer for exploitation for helping and feeding old man suffers for starvation less than a week. And that post says on his video content, the doctor has the point, he didn't lose anything to help but it gain bigtime than he gave to the oldman which only last for couple of days.

(And for me, this is definitely NOT helping to him at all)

The old man has been sick less than a week so he need more like hospitalization first then feeding him. He's homeless also, even he has a shelter or another family who lends help, the only thought you might bring into mind is to offer help from "home for the aged" government organizations if the old man is already homeless. This is all what Basel supposed to do and not filming it. What the poor people lose? Dignity and Respect as a person, an instinct and ability to build themselves as a person just like anybody did. And also what the society sees them it didn' t change at all. They lose alot more than you ever imagine and the creators gaining more than twice (monetary, publicity and a such). So using poor people, exploiting them is never being a help. Even the public call him out for this, guest what, he didn't learn. He didn't accept this corrections, admit his wrongs, he didn't change, because like other vloggers who do virtue signaling, they have a huge number of followers so might they think that all of ideas come into action is right. Basis on people's validation. So sad.

Poverty Porn, why is this a problem?

In this era that multimedia and even social media empowers us there alot of things and people in this world: beauty, amazing places and stories of every person has to be know, to inspire, to elevate others even from a visual processes but some other small groups didn't require to document, to film or expose their state, sensationalize the stories from these people situation especially when involvement of children to earn the public attention upto making a profitable marketing strategy is a form of Poverty Porn. (Sadly it's getting used by Commercial Capital system today)

Some people says that "poverty porn exists because of the poverty." I mean duh! No doubt that and some psychologist or expert has their findings, a pseudo-science related terms and classifications about behavior on whose involve in poverty porn. Or most of the people's opinion about this is just to find who's to blame, marginalized people or media or influencer(s), or privilege people, still they didn't find the cause of this problem.

For me, the problem that why poverty porn is still happening until today is how people digest this issue, they already know that this is a problem and yet they have a poor respond for this issue:

"It's OK to commercialize them, they are politicians, they rich. They can buy anything and get anything as long as you are in influence, even the dignity of the people, it's the poor people's fault anyway blame them because they're still poor" -Fault Finder, Victim Blaming SSOB-

"Beggar, Vendor, Driver, Helper, Farmer, Fishermen, Minimum pay worker, bystander, doesn't matter they're all poor. Their lives? Our entertainment, Blame them on why they keep miserable.

"They are no values and honor for poor people, they're hungry? Give them food. Milking them, take advantage as a payment, don't give a f*ck, blame them for being dumb."

See, these people has their own say about this issue in a terrible way because they misinformed, or just ignorant about people's feelings and significant to this society, even know that they are the one has the problem here. Good thing is every social media platform or apps has the ability to control the news feed informations and commentary algorithms that most of the people using suspicious accounts ranting for. Purging fake news sites and pages and disinformation coming from an politician.

For your information, there are no good in poverty porn, people losing so much more in poverty porn and all the crooks in the top still earning and reigning from poverty porn. This form is not empowering poor people, it makes them vulnerable for exposing their suffering and sensationalized by the one who runs the organization for their agenda and profitable desires.

Most impacts are:

• Exploitation of one's suffering to obtain kindness

• Misrepresents poverty and the poor

• It triggers short term aid instead of long term advocacy

So what can we do to avoid poverty porn?

To communicate humanitarian issues effectively with minding to respect people who photographed.

If you want to help, make sure you have a humanitarian groups/organization such as Unicef, etc. And search more private sectors who has the humanitarian activities and foundation before such as relief operations, charity works for children, help drive associated by some co-sectors from LGU and charismatic foundation.

If you didn't trust from any government sectors for trusting your items for help such as food, shelter needs, cash help, these foundation is just for you.

Be vigilant, especially for social media users has the same advocacy, relentless for spread the message "battle against poverty porn" if you see any from other content creators doing this, make sure to catch every detail of their post, these are the questions that might help you people on what to publish with photos and what is not.

• What do we want to think and feel when they read our message?

• Does your image disrespect or disregard those people who representing or helping?

• What your intentions for sharing the photo?

• If this image helps to tell the whole picture or perpetuate the single perspective of poverty?

• People's consent within this picture(s)

• If you using for publications, are they credible?

We can do our part such as

• Getting the informed consent of all relevant groups (especially when children is involved in this story, they are certain laws and practices about this)

• Protect the privacy of those victims of abuse and exploitation

• Promote respect, dignity and empowerment instead of sympathy and stereotypes.

Even poverty porn is still at hand, we are here to do our part to fight and stop them, to calling out all running politicians in this coming elections and all vloggers who practicing poverty porn contents which is effectively happening today.

As I end this article, remember in this kind of system, for those dense netizens keep blaming poor people because of their state, giving food or exploiting them didn't help, if these influencer(s) do help? This is must they can do:

•Build a Free Institutions as for public education for all poor children and not just scholarships for selected children only

•Give more Job Opportunities for them and every single member of the family, also associated by the LGU/National Government and some private sectors whose willing to help

•If you really want to give directly give them free healthcare and medical assistance which is also associated by the government. Free medicines can do as well. Sadly educational concerns here didn't prioritize because they keep people unemployed ignorant and strive for simple needs so that they use them as their agendas. the problem with many politicians, influential and wealthy people today and even before is that they want Filipinos remain poor and stupid so that they can easily afford them. Yes it's sad but we can do anything to fight this system. So we empower people to vote wisely next election and stop romanticize Filipino Resiliency, held accountable for all leaders and representatives of this nation and most of all, be kind all the time.

It is 2020 cancelled?

When we say 2020 is a promising year according from most of us people, there are expectations, wishes and plans to do to make our lives better but how about to turning this thing out into unexpected disaster.

In this year 2020, there are certain events bringing with nature and human activities that all of us gets our uninvited attention. Yes some of these events has been running from ber-months last year (2019) it has to be rumors or even a fresh hot news but ours (as audience) didn't take it more seriously because it will affect us anyway, so that's why they're don't understand. Some of these events which in the news became the most influential because it will include some celebrities in an situation that related in their daily lives.

In January, these events that I've mention are:

1. The conflict of United States versus Iran, it nearly went to another war, or economic war.

2. Australia bushfires, these natural disaster has brought into broken hearts and tears of the world because we've seen how these bushfires destroyed the greens and living animals there.

Local Government Officials and Units are the one who handle it's situation from their citizens of small town and provincial states in the country, some of them has been stepped up and do the hardcore work. I just can't imagine how they think about that to other people.

There are many filipinos losing their jobs and livelihood even overseas and guess what, the entire govwement officials who assigned in their particular roles didn't perform their jobs well despite of their still paid by taxpayer's money. Those domestic workers has been immediate deported here but there are no any plans and clarificarions about what's going happen next when they're here, aa usual the numbers of unemployed citizens who suffering in the midst of pandemic. Also there are the worst, so many filipino has been arrested not just of disobeying protocols but too many of them outside of the protocols concern. Not to mention that there are many of our government officials has been violated that protocols and no sanctions at all, have you know about a senator who roaming around the entire hospital eventhough that he was covid positive? Or City Mayor who manage to dismissed all patients from hospital to their homes? Or a police officer who throwing a party even in the middle of pandemic? I mean mass gathering? They are the one who judging people for disobeying the protocols but the audacity of them who do so. And about the policemen who murders the war veteran with PTSD in metro manila. There are too many impunity of this government who supposed to aid us in this pandemic but they are the number one violators instead.

The era of incompetence continues from May to June because we will see the real impunity which is these politicians ruin human rights and livelihood of the filipinos. Since from nonesense hearing from that irrelevant and un proven violations of that said companies courtesy from those nincompoops representatives from some local units that 70 of them voting for denied from their franchise renewal which is cost of eleven thousand plus employees but those advertising and multi media companies as well because ABS CBN aa their stable and legitimate client of their company so it sums all of 20,000 overall individuals who has losing their jobs for thar biggest network company closure and take note, it all happening at the middle of the pandemic which is most of the filipinos has the hard time to find their jobs at that time. For me eventbough that I'm not from ABS but that advertising company along west avenue will being affected because one of our lefitimate client was ABS CBN, since this company was signing off, our company will closed down too which is cost of my job as well. And guess what, these scumbags from congress didn't even has a plan to get an alternative jobs for us who lost from their stupendous decisions.

Typhoon Rolly was destroys so many properties and livelihood of the filipinos but the typhoon Ulysees devastated not the city but brings so many human casualties as well. For so many days for need saving and rescuing but the national government didn't listen to them. This global pandemic affected most of people's daily activities such as work places, street jobs and even for educational concerns of the youths, all of them has been focused more ij social media, well obcourse that was the best way of information that they get since they didn't go for their schools during lockdown. I mean their education is not their priority that time because they're find it boring and no actual interaction from professors to students in their schools, no actual learnings and social life which is important and also, no allowances from their parents. As for those faculties, this pandemic affected much of them, not all of them can access for online class, most of them can get their alternative works for their everyday needs, but the passion of teaching has been fading away. Our government did not interested to oversee this problem, which is obviously they was been intended from the start, people didn't send their childred to schools so that they became the large number of morons of the society, and it will beneficial for the corrupt official to put them in the government seats in the future. Yeah, how terrible that is. Now as we can see for all of this, our government that give them they're salaries intendedly kills us slowly and terribly, that's how it works if we seing it today and the worst part of this are most of the people still blind to see it.

We can learn this moral lesson during this global pandemic or we should still blind and drown from our priviledges, because we're not deserving this reality. We need accountability from them, stop romanticising Filipino resilency, we must act now or 2021 has became the same as it is.
