[...] But the students at the heart of the movement say the reason they began their demonstrations – the pressing need to end Israel’s deadly bombardment of Gaza – risks being lost amid a cacophony of voices and distractions.
“Gaza is why we’re here. Gaza is why we’re doing this,” said Rue, a student at The New School in New York City who asked to only be identified by her first name due to a fear of reprisals. [...]
“As students who are being taught in class about colonialism, about Indigenous rights, about the effect of non-violent protest across history, it would be extremely hypocritical — or it would totally undermine the point of our education — if we didn’t act,” the 25-year-old said.
“At the very least we can show that there was resistance” to what is happening in the Gaza Strip, the student added.
“The horrors in Gaza are really beyond imagining. These small acts of resistance, these are small sacrifices — [they] are nothing compared to what is happening on the ground in Palestine.” [...]

A premature Palestinian baby, who was saved from her mother’s womb after she was killed in an Israeli attack in the Gaza Strip, has died after days in an incubator.
Sabreen al-Rouh Jouda died in a Gaza hospital on Thursday after her health deteriorated and medical teams were unable to save her, said her uncle, Rami al-Sheikh Jouda.
Dr Mohammad Salama, head of the emergency neonatal unit at Emirati Hospital in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, who was caring for the baby girl, also confirmed her death on Friday.
“I and other doctors tried to save her, but she died. For me personally, it was a very difficult and painful day,” Salama told the Reuters news agency. [...]
The girl, who was named Sabreen after her mother, was rescued through a Caesarean section after her mother succumbed to her injuries.
[Sabreen] Al-Sakani [Sr.], who was 30 weeks pregnant, was killed along with her husband and a young daughter. [...]

btw if more of you read orientalism maybe you wouldn’t be demanding palestinians share their trauma with you to prove themselves worthy of your consideration. maybe you would treat us like human beings instead of mascots for suffering to make yourselves feel better about your complicity in our oppression.

Would it be alright if you were to share this evacuation fundraiser on your account? I already have it pinned to my blog, but I don't have many followers, so it's only gotten 5 notes since I've shared it. I don't know the family personally, but my own family is in their city (Edmonton) and I know how expensive it's gotten to establish there. Thank you so much for the help that you provide to others
https://gofund.me/133ed1c5
Hey can you send me a different link to the fundraiser, one that includes actual text? I cannot open the gfm links that have a series of numbers and letters after the slash, it gives me a 502 error.

When I made this post just ten days ago, it was about mass graves discovered at Al Shifa hospital and now we have learned that the same had happened at Nasser hospital in Gaza. The same genocidal pattern: a hospital is put under siege, patients and medical staff are abducted, tortured and buried in mass graves.
But to build on the last point I wanted to bring attention to in the previous post, it is very crucial to also keep in mind is that the Palestinian Civil Defence have reported that Israel had deliberately concealed the identities of those it killed and buried in these mass graves. Close to 400 bodies have been buried in these mass graves, 58% of the recovered bodies have not been identified.
In a press conference, a spokesperson of the civil defence in Gaza said that Israel had intentionally disfigured the bodies postmortem in order to remove any identifying markers such as birthmarks. He also mentioned that they suspect that the bodies have been placed in body bags that expedited the decomposition process, destroying any possibility of them being identified.
One of the main and only ways families have been able to identify the bodies of their loved ones is through the clothes they remember them wearing the last time they saw them. I saw a video of a mother identifying her son by his striped jacket. You can see the grief mixed with relief that she will be able to give her son proper burial.
Remember when months ago I said that to be identified and buried in Gaza has become a luxury? This is very much still the case.

C'mon don't be losers, instead of doing Watcher subscription giveaways just literally buy esims for Gaza or donate to non-profit charities like Care for Gaza, which actually help affected Palestinians and deliver food and other necessities to them. There's also a bunch for Sudan like the one set up by the ICRC. Don't give $6 just for a man to eat expensive shit on camera when that $6 can do so much for an entire nation of starving people.

‼️Please Read. After a discussion with my Cousin we decided to start up a pilot Soup kitchen in Al Hitana Omdurman serving lentil stew fortified with peanut butter to double the available calories in the stew as well as bread.
The kitchen has been running for 3 days now and has served on average 80 people a day, representing 80 households so potentially we’ve been helping 400 people a day.
Over 90% of those who have shown up to the kitchen over the past 3 days have been women and Children and for some it will be the only meal they get that day.
From tomorrow we’d like to scale up to making two 65 litre pots of stew a day which is 160 servings (households).
Currently we’ve purchased enough supplies to run the kitchen at full capacity for two weeks but we’d like to make this a permanent thing and that needs external support.
If you would like to support this project and help this kitchen to continue working, then please donate to this gofundme which will be providing the funding support

So we all know that Tumblr is US-centric. But to what degree? (and can we skew the results of this poll by posting it at a time where they should be asleep?)
Reblog to increase sample size!

Colonizers write about flowers. I tell you about children throwing rocks at Israeli tanks seconds before becoming daisies. I want to be like those poets who care about the moon. Palestinians don’t see the moon from jail cells and prisons. It’s so beautiful, the moon. They’re so beautiful, the flowers.
