I feel like more people should know about the Filipino phrase bahala na si Batman. quite literally, it means it's up to Batman. on a more figurative level, it means that you're leaving something to God/fate - metaphorically represented by Batman, of course.
big event that you haven't prepared for but you're going anyway? bahala na si Batman. major exams coming up and you haven't reviewed yet? bahala na si Batman. about to do anything remotely risky/luck-based? bahala na si Batman.
anyways, I just think it's hilarious that Batman is now a part of our culture through this saying. is this a thing in other cultures/languages too? let me know!

Thinking about how when my oldest brother took Japanese classes his professor was like your pronunciation is really good 😊 but you need to watch movies that aren't about the Yakuza because you sound like a criminal

DMBJ Updates
There's been a lot of stuff going on in the last two months, so I'll just list the updates below.
Looks like there is a Yucun Biji stage play in the works. (x)
A trailer for the Seven Star Lu Palace animation was released by iQIYI. It will be 3d animation. (x)
Merebear finished translating all of the novels in the main series.
NPSS finished revising Yucun Biji, so hopefully that will be published this year or next. Babu will also be involved (likely creating more of the little comics). Restart Volume 2 is still being revised.
The third book in the Qinling Sacred Tree comic series was published in March.
New: there will be another DMBJ mobile game loosely translated as "Daomu Biji: New Adventure" (盗墓笔记:启程).

a part of adult life you never really realize as a child is the constant need for bowls in so many different sizes. you're always doing something and going "man i wish i had the right size bowl for this" no matter how many bowl sizes you have

The old school lack of transparency on tumblr is amazing because you assume the people you follow must all be equivalent to you and then you see someone write “I brought my youngest to college today” and someone else write “my mom wouldn’t let me listen to Ariana Grande when I was a kid” and then your head explodes

ca. 1763 via Musee McCord Museum
This wedding dress is one of the most outstanding garments in the McCord Museum’s collection. A rare piece, it is one of the few 18th-century silk gowns with a hand-painted floral design to be found in a North American museum. The soft cream silk was handwoven in China, where the floral pattern was handpainted in tones of lavender, blue, yellow, green and brown. This charming dress was worn by Mary Chaloner in Guiseborough, England, when she married Colonel John Hale. The groom had served under Major-General James Wolfe in the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in Quebec, and it was he who brought the news of Wolfe’s death back to George III in England.”
