so let's get to it and we're gonna show you these simple little things you can do alright first thing is your water hose we need to take and disconnect this from your water spigot if you leave this on through the winter you'll freeze up back into the house here and you'll split your water spigot causing major problems in the spring when you turn your water back on so just connect that and that's all you really need to do save you probably about 300 dollars next spring number two blow out your sprinkler systems you don't blow them out you'll have freeze ups over the winter and lots of breakage throughout your lawn and then you'll have a lot of costly repairs in the spring when you want to turn it back on call a professional they can come blow this out for a minimal charge number three you'll want to do is come and check your weather stripping on your doors all around different spots you can pick this up at your local box stores they will have what you need it's gonna save you a lot of money over the winter in in heating costs without weather stripping you'll lose a lot of heat even in the summer you're gonna lose a lot of AC if you run in your ACS so check your weather stripping if you need to replace it it's simple it's easy and it's very inexpensive it's gonna save you a lot of money this winter number four during the summer we often open our windows and the problem is we forget to latch them when they're shut so go around check your windows that may have been open and make sure you get them lashed because you'll lose a lot of heat over the winter and lose a lot of money number five we want to clean our gutters the reason is is if you don't clean your gutters or get some water in here's things start to freeze up and back up because it's not clean when it backs up and over the winter you can get some snow on the roof or on something you get a warming trend you get a lot of water sure off the roof it's gonna overflow your gutters flow down into the house cause problems I've seen it go into homes before through the windows that way also seen gutters get tore off the house which also causes a lot of problems clean your gutters it will save you a lot of money in the long run number six crawlspace vents every house has crawlspace vents in them and there should be open in the summer and closed in the winters there's a little lever on most of them some way or another that you pull them this way that closes them lock it down what that will do is save you a lot of cold air rushing into your house again saving you money in the summers you'll want to open them back up into the spring so that you have the venting going through and keeping any moisture in your house from groundwater it'll help keep it from building up in your house so close your vents in them in the fall open them in the spring save you a lot of money number seven cracks in your concrete you want to check your driveways or sidewalks for cracks in the concrete and you want to seal them it's over over the winter what happens is water comes into the concrete cracks that freezes and thaws and freezes and thaws and what happens over time it starts to blow out your concrete which long runs gonna cost you a lot of money to replace an average concrete driveway it's probably gotta be around two to three thousand dollars upwards of four to five depending on the size of your driveway so you want to save a lot of money in the long run spend a little bit of money and seal up your cracks number eight locate your furnace check your filter a dirty filter it's gonna cost you a lot of money in the long run it's really hard on your furnace causes wear and tear on your furnace that's needless so check your filters it's recommended you replace them at least every 90 days maybe y'all more often depending on the environment of your house so check them you'll save yourself some money number nine is a recommendation of feeding your lawn you want to winterize your lawn to keep it from having some winter kill so just find a good winterizing feed put it over your lawn going into the winter by spring you'll have a nicer looking lawn number ten a very costly mistake that most people overlook it is draining the gas out of their lawnmower and their weed eater you can do it several different ways you can drain it right out of the tank or you just run them till they quit but if you don't gas will gum up your engine over the winter and come spring and I'll have a very hard time to get the thing started a lot of times people just think that their machine's not working anymore just go buy a new one well if you do this every year it's gonna cost you money Soul Train Nils engines and be prepared for next spring so do you have it the 10 money-saving tips to winterize your home you can either do it yourself a call professional either way get it done and save yourself some money
